I bought this extender and hoped that the results were not typical from different products from years before. Setup up was a breeze press one button and done. My home has three levels with the router being in the basement the wifi signal was fair for all rooms directly above where I have the router. Now that the Wi-Fi extender is in place I have an excellent signal which even reaches the utmost ranges of my home and allows me to utilize all my smart devices

I purchased an expensive new desktop, and put it in our back bedroom. Our house is about 1350 sq feet, but the weak modem from Time Warner didn't reach. No signal at all! I was Really hoping I hadn't wasted all that money on a computer I couldn't use online, where I needed to use it.
Purchased this extender. The setup is Very easy. Push a button on this, and on our modem, and it joined. Went to my computer, and wha la! Full bars on the connection. What a relief! This thing works great!!
Our XBox, Netflix, and tablet now has 5 bars as well. Great quality, and easy setup! So happy with this purchase.

I purchased this extender about an hour ago. Took maybe 10 minutes to set it up and wow!!!! The router is upstairs and was adequate but with the extender the signal increased from 24 mgps to 114 mbps. What a big difference and now in the backyard the signal is also strong. The ease of setup is amazing!!!

Did not fix my problem. But it works.

Let me explain. This did not solve my wifi issues. But I believe my problems to have been the fault of my cable company. Please understand, this product may be amazing. And maybe I just did not know how to use it. But when connected to the extension networks the wifi did NOT work or it would work SLOW and then drop out. Please take this review with a grain of salt. I am giving 5 stars because I do not know whether this products works or not and will offer the benefit of the doubt.

Comcast customer. I had a Netgear N300 previously, but wanted something faster. I had bought a Belkin AC1200, but the wireless connection had annoying delays. Web pages would take 5-10 seconds to load. Replaced it with Netgear AC1200 and no delay. Setup/Configuration very easy. Netgear RULEZ, Belkin DROOLZ.

I purchased this range extender since my TV does not have Wi-Fi but does have an Ethernet connection. This gave me four Gigabyte network connections for my TV, Roku, AVR, and NAS Drive. Setup was as simple as pressing the WPS button and then plugging in the devices. I can stream HD video and loss-less music without any latency. Great product for the money.

Amazing Repeater and Easy Setup

I originally had a DD-WRT Linksys repeater that after 8 years finally stopped working. I researched for a few days and decided to get the NETGEAR - AC1200. Took me 5 minutes to setup, was able to Hard Wire my server and connect all phones with no issues.

Great AC Extender-Gigabit ports

Have owned 3 extenders and just upgraded from the belkin 600 extender. Was waiting for the next generation AC extender to upgrade. This thing is great!!. It connects all the way to the other side of a 3600sq ft house and connects at the full 866 mbps to my Cisco EA6500 AC1750. That is plain amazing. I have a visio smart tv, denon 3313, blueray player, apple tv and a surveillance laptop connected to the gigabit ports. Still handles the traffic great. And with my Dell M18xR2 and my new intel 7260 AC card the laptop connects at 705 to 866mbps consistently. Highly recommend this extender. It is exceptional and connects at full speed at ridiculous range from the router. Buy one! PS mine seems to like the upper channels of the 5.0 MHz band....,mine is set for 80mhz width, channels 149 to 153 and uses four channels. But check the signals in your area with say ssider to avoid channel overlap. Great extender.

Never Buy Anything Netgear-Tech Support is Abysmal
Posted .

Even if you were luckier than me and you purchased one that actually works, you will want to avoid anything Netgear makes *in case* something goes wrong. Why? They have THE WORST technical support possible. I spent nearly the entire day with their overseas call center where the reps on the phone were not allowed to diverge from their script. I know this because I spoke to no less than 5 people on the phone and they word for word said the same thing over and over again. Only after we repeatedly failed at the same sequence of resetting the extender were they willing to escalate to level II support. I suspect the hardware was just fine and that there was a software issue with setup, but because this was not a part of their script it didn't matter. Nevertheless, I missed their call back for level II support and went right back into the cue where they refused to put me through. Instead, I went through the sequence again at their insistence only to be told finally at 4pm that the unit appeared to be defective and that I would have to exchange for a new one. I responded, yes I will return this product and no I will not be exchanging. I got the Linksys AC1200 Max instead and it was a dream. My extender was up and running in 5 mins--plus it was almost $30 cheaper!! Save yourself some heartache and never buy anything from Netgear, extender or otherwise.

Very impressed by this wi-fi range extender. We have a Netgear Nighthawk X6 R8000 router which was great inside the house, however, we were trying to get a signal outside the house. We live in the country so there are no other networks to cause interference. After hooking up the range extender, we were able to pull a signal and stream Netflix 150' away, inside a camper. We can also get a signal in a pole shed 160' away. Very impressed the signal was able to be picked up in the pole shed since it is metal. I would highly recommend this Netgear range extender for anyone trying to improve their signal outside the house, worked for us!

Better than LYNKSYS RE6500

Bought this range extender after trying out the LYNKSYS RE6500 that had issue with dropping signal to my Galaxy Note 10.1 continuously. Not only did this range extender eliminate this problem, but also gave me better signal and range than the RE6500 when matched to my ASUS RT-AC66R router and all wireless systems using AC 5G. Another nice feature of this extender is that it uses the same security key as the router automatically when I set up both bands using WPS. Higher in price but well worth it.

I set this up quickly using WPS syncing. That was a good start. You put the AC1200 next to your Wi-Fi router to establish the sync and then move the AC1200 to it's place as a relay. My 100 Mbps Comcast throughput turned into 2-3 Mbps throughput. The other thing that it does is create two new SSIDs by adding _2EXT and _5EXT after your SSIDs. So when you are downstairs you have to link to MyWiFi (or whatever your SSID is) and then when you go upstairs you have to switch to MyWiFi_2EXT. That's nuts. It has great signal strength but it did a lousy job of truly extending my Wi-Fi network.
I returned it and bought a Lynksys RE6500. The setup was easier because you don't have to put it next to your Wi-Fi router first. I put it in exactly the same place as I did the Netgear device. Wow! 50 Mbps first time. It has a site survey mode that you can use to test signal strength relative to your Wi-Fi router. Presumably you can use this to find a better place for the extender. I'll play with that some day but for now 50 Mbps is just fine. And no goofy EXT SSIDs. You just have to use your original one. And it is $20 cheaper.

After reading several reviews of range extenders, I had some doubts about being able to set up my purchase. This AC1200 range extender was as easy as it gets. I just followed the instructions in the quick set up guide and used the WPS from my router to activate both bands in a few minutes. I wired by DVD player to one of the ports and then changed the settings on my DVD to match. I was able to see both extended bands as available on my iPhone and the range I was hoping for was greatly improved.

I live in a building apt in the 3 rd floor and my neighbor lives on the 1st floor and he gave me his internet password but the signal was weak . I read my reviews about the netgear Ac 1200 and went to Best Buy and purchased it. I installed it in 5 minutes very easy and did not have to bother my neighbor for anything . Now I play online gaming with my PS3 and for hours and not once that I get offline. I love this extender because it was easier then I thought to install and it shows me if the signal is weak .

I found myself in a bit of a pickle when it came to internet. My location for all of my devices was detached from the house that contained the modem. I didn't even know there were extenders, before this I was using the netgear wifi USB adapter and getting nothing close to what I should, which is fair considering it's not what it's particularly used for.
Anyway I went to Best Buy locally and checked their modem/wifi section and found the extender. It was on sale so I decided to give it a try.
Our households internet speeds are 200 down, 12 up to the modem. With the extender with about 30 to 40 feet between me and the modem and two walls I am getting 115 down and 11 up. I would say that's working pretty well considering without it the most I was getting was 30 up, and that was rare, more often it was 10-15 down.
So I would definitely recommend this.
