Could Not Setup Product

I am proficient in setting up wireless devices, routers, and extenders. However, this extender failed miserably. The Netgear Genie would not operate correctly on either my iPhone 5S or my HP laptop. I talked on the phone with NetGear support for 45 minutes (they force you to register for the product before helping you). They too were unable to help, as the NetGear Genie would not open on my laptop and would freeze on the 5Ghz router setup through my iPhone. They suggested I return it and buy another of the same router. Yeah... right.
Extremely disappointed. I will be returning this product and will not be buying any NetGear products in the future. Wasted several hours of my time and obviously Netgear customer support was no help.

Easy to setup

This was extremely easy to set up with my AC1200 Netgear DSL wifi modem. The only problem is that, after 5 days, the 2.4GHz band no longer allows me to access the internet. I can access via the 5GHz band and according to the admin page, I am fully connected with no issues on either band, however, the led on the front and my connection say otherwise.

Needed a product to make the wifi in our house stronger between floors and this definitely does the trick. Easy to set up and consistent.

Poor customer support

Netgear does not answer their customer support telephone line, nor do they do respond to email requests for customer support.
They just sent an email notifying me of a firmware update. They require that you input the product model number, but the model number is not printed on the unit. Fortunately I still had the box, so was able to input the model number, but then was instructed to follow a several step process to install the update, including writing down all of the changes I had made to the default setting on the unit. Am I really supposed to remember this information several months later? The update process should be simpler than this! I would not recommend purchasing a Netgear product since in my opinion, there is no customer support. Look for another product.

With my android phone, I have to turn off WiFi then turn it back on when downloads stall. Better speed and signal than cheaper products but link isn't reliable with phone. I haven't tried same tests with computer yet.

Did not cover all rooms in my house and I needed to get a stronger router, also couldn’t handle the increased speeds when you have really fast internet. If you are running 50mps and have a smaller space it is good.

The setup time was very fast, however I couldn't keep one of the bands to "stay alive" when I moved the extender to another room. A couple of back and forths with the easy-to-access support team and it was money. I'm happy with the purchase.

Netgear is awful, 2nd one different model

Awful interference, very poor customer service - should of listened to my gut when I decided to purchase another Netgear. First one I had about 1.5 years and it is dead. This one has poor reception - my Asus router gets 33 mbs on the third floor on a 50 mb service. When this operated it at best got 10-14 mbs. Stay away from Netgear and buy another product as I did.

Stopped working in under two years

This extender worked fine until two days ago, when it stopped being able to connect to *some* websites, but not all. Very strange. I scoured the internet for troubleshooting, did multiple factory resets and power cycles, to no avail.
I also can't connect to the Netgear admin genie at mywifiext.net (Netgear's local URL to access the admin) *at all*. Which is the primary way I'd trouble shoot the extender further, according to multiple sources online and Netgear's own support community.
I have the extender right next to the router, and it connects to the router successfully. But all devices connected to the extender have the same problem with not being able to connect to some websites. I also noticed the devices are being assigned a 169.245.x.x IP instead of the standard 198.162.x.x, so it seems like some DCHP connection issue is the culprit.
It's possible the issue is with my router, but I've done full factory resets and updated the firmware on that as well. So I contacted Netgear support and they were just terrible. Tried to upsell me on a $90 extended warranty plan just to receive more technical support. So even if it's not an issue with the extender, the fact that Netgear's customer service is so abominable forces me to give a 1 star. I will never buy from this company again.

Garbage

I had a Netgear extender for years that worked perfectly. I had to purchase a new router which the old extender did not work with, so I bought this newer model. It drops the internet all the time and it is extremely frustrating . This is a piece of garbage. I am buying a new extender but it won't be a Netgear.

it really did not extend the range of my 4 year Comcast router....I followed the instructions and gave it some time but it might as well not even be there. I already threw the box away so I cant return it....normally I would give it to someone but this thing actually does nothing as far as I can tell

It's a very easy to set up compared to other Internet boosters. But when I actually logged onto the network it was so slow that it wouldn't load Google chrome or anything on my laptop. So in the End I took it back because it didn't work at all.

Great signal/no bandwidth

purchased this product to extend my network. While my wifi signal was indeed boosted, the actual bandwidth was significantly reduced. Overall not what I wanted to achieve. Testing the original modem yielded 12+ MBPS on wifi and hard wired is around 50 mbps This product yielded <1mbps bandwidth. Was kind of like being back on dial up! I realize wireless doesn't yield same results as wired but it should be better than this. I tried to use support but couldn't get through so I returned the product. My reduced signal on my TWC wireless modem while a lower signal, produced better bandwidth.
