I purchased this product in order to stream cable TV out 250 foot into my yard. It has improved some signal areas, yet I still have dead spots. Netgear support has been poor. They will offer you tech support ONLY on the current item. When I needed them to tell me how to change the channel on the Netgear router I purchased 15 months ago they refused! I will be replacing this entire setup with a more powerful WiFi, and it will NOT be the Netgear brand.

Poor wifi reception, old Linksys E1000 did better.

I'm at a location that has a hot spot and I use an old E1000 router flashed with DD-WRT as a repeater bridge, modified with external antennas, and it works very well. I decided to give this EX6200 a shot to see if I could get an even stronger signal due to having "700mw" amplifiers. To my disappointment, I was unable to make the EX6200 bridge out to the Ethernet ports to my PC. It just doesn't work. It turns out that this extender only attaches to another router via WIFI only and not the Ethernet ports. I decided to flash DD-WRT on the EX6200 and it allowed me to do what I wanted, HOWEVER the signal reception was POOR, no better than Netgear's stock firmware. WIth my old E1000, I would get a link to the hotspot at about -62, that is pretty decent. With the Netgear, it was far worse. I was getting in the -70's. That is very bad. The speed was also pathetic. Do yourselves a favor and steer clear of this thing. You are better off paying a little more and getting a R7000 Netgear router and flashing it to DD-WRT, then set it up as a repeater bridge. It will work far better and faster than the ex6200.

I purchased this to upgrade a WN2500RP to get AC speeds. Connecting to a Netgear R6200v2 AC router. In default configuration, can't even get devices to attach to it. Turned on "FastLane" and devices attached but the uplink speed maxed out at 54mbps. This product is slower than the WN2500RP in both normal and "FastLane" modes. I have 30 years of experience in I.T. I've never been more frustrated with a piece of networking gear. My R6200 router works great. The WN2500RP produces fair speeds but Apple products do not connect to Netflix through it. AC speeds and iPhone compatibility was the reason I tried to upgrade. Returning this product in the morning.

WORST WIFI RELATED PRODUCT EVER!

So I read all the reviews and things looked well. Then i installed it. At first it would work ok for a couple hours and then completely lock up and start dropping packets. Then Netgear released a firmware update, & I thought I might be saved. Sadly the firmware update was even worse then the initial software, After the update the 2.4ghz band would just drop out completely and Ping times would spike and you couldn't access the device without power-cycling it. I've had DD-WRT overclocked routers run better then this. This device is awful and really wish I could get my money refunded. Do not buy this.
