Many appreciate the router's reliable coverage and its suitability for streaming. While some find the router's size a bit large, the majority of negative feedback focuses on minor issues such as occasional lag and bright lights.

    Not good support from Netgear

When I had the expert plug in my router, it produced one third of the expected speed. Net-gear walked me through some tests and agreed and then told me I had to wait a day before I did anything because it might start working. HA HA. I waited and then called back because it still did not work. ETC. It is now over a month and I still do not have a replacement router. I am on phone call, to Net-gear support, number 5 with nothing except they agree it needs to be replaced and they want to charge me to replace it. One representative wanted more to replace it then it cost new.

Even though you set it up to auto-renew ip addresses, still had to restart the router every day or every other day because it would never reissue dhcp. Dropped this router like it drops it's signal.

This router is crap. You have to restart it every week. It does not distribute speed properly. It’s huge. Not reliable at all. NetGear no longer makes good network devices.

First bestbuy won't exchange or refund this item. It is still under warranty but Netgear makes me go through troubleshoot ($89) with a technician for a fee. Netgear said if the product does not work after troubleshooting, they will refund $89 and replace the item. After one hour long troubleshooting over the phone, they decided to replace my item. My credit card charge is still pending. Overall experience for this product is really really bad.

Junk router with extra “bloat ware”

Keeps dropping connection to internet. PS5 says wrong Wi-Fi password when returning from rest mode. Roku and TVs are constantly dropping connection and I’ve had to restart this router more times than I care to count in just the short week I’ve owned it. I switch to an asus gaming laptop and magically all my issues went away. It’s probably due to bad firmware from what I read and it can be fixed with a roll back but why should I have to do that, it should work correctly out of the box!

Sold-out in-box services to Disney for a fee

I bought this router because it has parental controls for my kids' devices. I had it all set up to limit access, and then they upgrade the firmware with a pay-to-use service from Disney (yeah, the company so good at protecting children that the world has to live with Britney, Miley, and Lindsay). The service was IN THE BOX WHEN I BOUGHT IT, and now I have to pay Disney a subscription fee for the same services (yes, some of the original/basic options are now in the pay-to-use service). Searching other routers now.

Bought this thinking it would go hand in hand with the Spectrum 400mbps internet I have. I have 20 devices that are connected via WiFi (smart bulbs, Echos, Smart TVs, laptops, a few gaming systems, phones, and a tablet). There's usually no more than 5 devices running off WiFi at one time, with basic loads such as watching Netflix (4k), video meetings, and simple web browsing. This router couldn't handle any of that. If you're looking for a router and you've got a similar setup at home, skip this router. I decided to go $100 more and bought the ASUS gaming router.

I bought this router because of its high reviews. We have had a lot of instability, and after hours on the phone with Netgear running diagnostics, Netgear is replacing it. Hopefully the next one will be better.
