Kept losing network connection at my office

My computer system at my office is hard wired to a switch then into the router. This kept dropping our server connection (LAN) and our internet connection (WAN). After fighting with it for more than 3 months, I replaced it with another brand.

    no more server clutter

i bought 2 of these guys to get rid of alot of other equipment, 2 switches 2 servers and 2 AP units. while i know i lost protection from active malware and virus scanning i can install malwarebytes for that. anyways on to the review. the units will handle a fair amount of traffic, i had 12 youtube streams running with 2 other pc's and phone and a tablet on stream 13 we had a hiccup but it still handled the traffic nicely. the signal is strong for a medium to small home or APT. at 50% power output i get signal out to back gate then it drops, which is what i want because my neighbors will not be leaching. initial setup is very simple. plug it in turn it on press and hold WPS button on your device and it will connect. sadly that was not enough for me. i am not a simple person. if you try to hide the networks by not broadcasting you will have issues. one issue is netgear tells you your net work will not work and you MUST broadcast the SSID. WRONG! here is the fix and how to. connect cable to a lan port and login into router. uncheck broadcast boxes for both sides 2.5 and 5 ghz. select apply you will get error message click ok. now from your device you must manually connect to the network via wireless by entering the network ssid and security. you may get a screen that has a message about router login failure. go to browser history and delete all the pages that you have accessed for the router or just clear the history for last hour. login again. you should now be in router start page with hidden network(s). if you have another router and to save time i would transfer the SSID and passwords from there to this one. no need reprogram all those devices and machines. if you are worried about loosing printer(s) no need to worry, remember when you setup printer the network info is stored by the pc NOT the router.

My PC which is hardwired into my modem has a download speed of 321.98 mbps. Meanwhile, my netgear router can't maintain a connection with my smartphone or TV without needing multiple resets a day. ASUS here I come, you get what you pay for.

I have Comcast, and had an older Linksys router. I pay for the 150 Meg internet, and I was lucky if I was getting 15 Megs right next to my old router, and it was almost inoperable across my house. Bought this, and the signal is fantastic. I actually get 175 Megs on the 5ghz channel, and have a strong 90 or so throughout my 2400 square foot home. Even have about 60 Megs in my garage and back yard. The range and speed output is top notch, and well worth paying the extra money for.

This router sucks. You cannot set the same SSID up and use "smart connect" to just between the 2.4 & 5 ghz bands. Lesser routers from other brands do it flawlessly. I had to step up to the R7000v2 the get the feature.

Bought it in the end of March, firmware update failed and the router is no longer usable, and, apparently, support is no longer available. For the price of it, it should be. Won't purchase anything from Netgear again.

I received the R6400 through Netgear as part of their test and review program. I am a NOT an expert with IT, but know enough to be dangerous. A few things: First, the setup was very easy. Plug and go basically. I installed on the otherside of my cable modem. The connection between the two has not presented any issues. Features/Performance: I downloaded the app which enables me to make changes and manage the router very easy. The router has definitely met my expectations.
