    Good Router

Fist off I received this router through the Netgear Friends and Family test and review program. The router is easy to setup though I would skip the genie app and just manage it through the routers web interface. You can do a very quick default setup through the genie app., but to do any detailed configuration you will need to use the web interface. I would have like the 5G and the 2.5G wireless networks to be on the same SSID. It is kind of nice to see both of these networks to choose from but it would be nice if I did not have to choose. The wireless range is what I expected. It coves most of the house without an issue. I was going to test out directly attaching storage to the router but the netgear NAS I have does not have the correct USB connection. Both devices had a Standard-A configuration and I did not have a cable that had type A on both sides. That was disappointing but not Netgears fault. Overall a good solid router.

Bought this on Black Friday 2015 for 89.99. It was well worth the price and is excellent. Currently play Xbox one, have a roku streaming in bedroom, game on the laptop, and surf the web on my tablet and phone. No hiccups and works perfectly.

After changing my Internet service, I needed a new router. I checked several reviews and my provider recommended that I purchase Netgear. This is a great router and the price was right! I've had no problems and it was very easy to set up!

    Nice upgrade but not perfect

    Posted .

I bought this to use as a wireless access point, so I can't really comment on the features as a router. As an AP, it works very well. I immediately went from a 133mbps connection (using my old netgear wireless-N AP) to 860 mbps on the 5 GHz channel. Similar throughput to the old AP with the 2.4 GHz channel. However, the guest network ability as well as the much more granular access control as well as other features make this a nice upgrade. The one thing that is annoying (being the very first day I'm using this product) is that when you use it as a wireless access point, regardless of your true connectivity, the Netgear Genie shows you as not having Internet connectivity. Even when all of the indicator LEDs are white, showing good connection. I had to chat with support about this issue to confirm that it is normal, because it is not covered in any documentation, nor is it covered in their knowledgebase.

This router is fantastic. It looks great, extremely easy to install, and has good speeds. We have three Xbox Ones in my apartment, and it handles all three with zero lag. Would buy this router if I was looking for one again.
