Great router at a great price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While ASUS and TP Link are solid brands, their 5GHZ routers leave a lot to be desired. I ended up returning them, and I ended up stumbling across this particular router because it was on sale. Don't let the lower price tag fool you; this is a solid router for the price. I manage to get relatively strong signals throughout most of my brick 2-story 1700 SQ FT home. I manage to get a solid 200MBPS download speed on the 5GHZ band if I'm on the second floor or about one two rooms away from the router. The 5GHZ band suffers naturally due to its shorter wave length if I'm on the other side of the house. The signal strength is excellent and consistent on the 2.4GHZ band, but the speed is a bit lacking at 40MBPS. Still, the 2.4GHZ band is NOT why I purchased this router anyway. The ASUS and TP Link routers I tried were inconsistent and sometimes the 5GHZ Band wouldn't even work on either one. Setup was also the breeze, and I love that you can access your router via your Smartphone. Also, I have this router setup as a hub for hardwired connections and as a wifi extender and it performs this duty excellently. The ASUS and TP Link routers failed miserably in this respect and repeatedly failed to assign IPs correctly when connected to. I highly recommend this router. Especially when its on sale around the low $100 price point!

good router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this router free from Netgear to review. DHCP did not work when I initially hooked up the router. This prevented both wifi and lan connections. I had to use a pin to reset the router before dhcp worked. Not sure why this issue occurred, but it was rather annoying. The overall router itself can only be setup in the horizontal position. This is rather annoying as other routers allow you to stand them up on the side. While the look is very sleek, I would rather have more functionality for positioning. The bootup time is slower compared to most other routers I've used. This isn't a huge issue and does not effect the network performance. The wifi did extend the range from my old router which is nice, and the performance is much more stable. Overall it's a great router and I would recommend it to others.
