It's a good unit even thought I am still having internet speed issues. It's probably my Lap Top.

    Never got past Installation

    Posted .

Hate it. The installation guide sucks. Step 1 is to scan the QR code that is not on the box, nor is it on the router itself. If you can't scan the nonexistent QR code, then you must manually set up the router via a phone app. The cables were detected just fine, but the internet never was. Next, was to go to NetGear's router page. Once logged in, I was forced to reset the password. Fine, got that, except... when logging in with the new password, the user Id & password didn't match any more. Nor did the old password. I give up. I'm not calling support as it shouldn't be this difficult to install a simple router. Back to Best Buy it goes.

This wasn't the very best router on the market. There are much better ones these days. I would recommend getting the more tri-ban ones these days

Will not buy again, stopped working just after the 90 day warranty ended. Worked great while it worked. If you buy make sure to buy the extended warranty.

Worst piece of junk I have every purchased. The first one broke 1 year after purchase. I replaced it with the store warranty and paid another $30 for another warranty. Now I was upgraded to 800 Mbps. I am getting 834 Mbps from my modem. But this router? 86 Mbps from 5 feet away. I am going to see if my warranty will allow me to simply return it this time. I will NOT buy this junk again! I am sorry that such a well respected brand has made such a horrible product

    Bad Router, Very Bad Router

Picked the router up this evening. Attempted to connect to the internet using the genie and the advanced setups over a dozen times. Would not recognize signal coming from modem. I plug the modem back into the computer no problem. Plug it into this paperweight and I get nothing. I've spent the last 2.5 hours attempting to do something that should take 10 minutes at the most. I do not recommend this router. I do not recommend the setup program. I do not recommend netgear because they can't even bother to put a technical support phone number into any of the literature that came with the router. I am returning post haste tomorrow and getting a different brand.

    Not Easy

The directions on installing aren't for older persons such as myself. A little too technical. But after a lot of reading and a few "experiments" I finally managed to get it installed but still not sure if it's working properly.

    Check the Serial Number

I bought this router in July of 2019 from my local Office Depot. Got it brand new in a box... or so I thought. I started having issue with it and when I went to support I was told that I had bought a refurbished router. So I called Office Depot and verified they do not sell refurbished products, I checked the description on the website and it doesn't list it as refurbished. At this point I would be leary of buying anything Netgear as you might not be getting a new product in the box but something refurbished.

    Worst purchase decision

Our old router went out and decided to go with this one because of its great reviews online and 'Best Seller' on the box. After 2 days of being on the phone with Netgear customer support and our internet provider, it was determined that the Netgear router was bad. The Netgear customer support reps changed the IP address repeatedly then would say 'wait 30 minutes and you can log on to the internet. So we returned it, bought a different brand and was up and running in 20 minutes.

    UNRELIABLE!

I bought three of these routers and within the first 6 months, port #2 failed on two out of three of them. Customer support was basically worthless. I was told that I would have to pay $17 each to get sent REBUILT replacements and send mine back. I researched it further and there are over 800 hits on the internet of either port 2 or port 3 failing - clearly a design related issued or manufacturing flaw. Netgear does not stand behind their products. Don't waste your time or money. I gave it one star because zero was not allowed.

Customer Service = We don't want to hear from you

Bought this router, set it up and it didn't work. So, I went through all of Netgear's contact info on their papers and web site. They make it almost impossible to contact them. Finally after many dead ends and many offers to "buy" customer support, I was given a contact number. It took about 30mins on hold. The person was nice but after another 45 mins of no answers she told me to take it back for a refund. BestBuy was great on the refund. I bought a Linksys router in its place and it connected on first try, it works great.

    Worst WiFi Possible

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The WiFi does not get out of 1 room. An older 2 bedroom condo, no metal in the walls. A lower-priced D-Link in the living room gives outstanding WiFi performance to both bedrooms. It was bought because this Netgear router could not get 1 room away. Netgear tech support was useless. I am finally being forced to replace this router as it failed security checks. I am working from home (COVID-19) connecting to government networks. Netgear can't handle it.

    Buyer Beware!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this router a little over 3 months ago, and it went out already. Didn't think I needed to purchase the extra warranty from best buy cause it claims to have a one year manufacture warranty...boy way I wrong! Netgear's customer support is HORRIBLE! They want to charge me 89.99 to replace the modem because their technical support warranty is only 3 months and I have to purchase additional tech support to check and see if the modem works or not. I am extremely mad that I paid $130 for a modem that worked for 3 months...BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND!!!

    Poor Setup Instructions and Failed

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This thing took forever to set up with confusing instructions. There are 3 different sets of user names/passwords that need to be created but the directions don't have you set these up in a logical order. When I finally did get it to work, I unplugged it to move it and never could get it to work again is spite of carefully rereading and following the setup instructions. I made an attempt at using netgear online support but that was also unclear. I returned for another brand (linksys) which was very simple to set up.

Purchased and 8 months later, the device failed. All of the Kings hourses and all of the Kings men can't get this router to work ever again. Netgears website isn't friendly, Getting Technical Support is unheard of since the site is looking for you to sign-up for contractural support after the 90 day period. I purchased an ASUS and never looked back

This project is a useless, and basically doesn't work. It is so bad, we had to change our cellular data plans because it dropped our internet connection so frequently that our wireless devices flipped to cellular and exceeded our allocated cellular data every month we have had the misfortune of owning this device. We spent HOURS with customer service trying to resolve connections problems and accomplished zero. DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE. IT WILL DRIVE YOU INSANE!!!!
