Excellent but there's a trick!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to extend that range of my modem/router device (the dual band Motorola/Arris SBG6782). Because there is a dual band broadcast, I have two WiFi networks: lan24 and lan50. When I set up the EX6100, the default mode was to extend these existing lans by adding new WiFi networks, using the names lan24_ext and lan50_ext. This had the consequence of leaving me with four WiFi networks, a very unwieldy situation, since each portable device (iPhone or iPad) needs to be assigned to a single local area network. In my home, this meant constantly reassigning the devices principal network name as I walked around. This complex arrangement was annoying, and just didn't work for my needs. But Netgear helped me on the phone -- they showed me that it is easy to keep only the original lan names, and have the EX6100 simply rebroadcast them (extend them) into a new area. This is ideal, as it provides me with greatly extended range while using only my two original lan names. Yay!, it all works just like I expected!
