These camera's are awesome. The battery life has been holding for over 60 days now.

My primary concerns when looking for a home security camera system is ease of use, minimal setup, and clarity of picture. This systems fulfilled all 3 needs. The wireless configuration was a time saver for me because I did not want to have to drill holes and run cables throughout the house. My base unit sits centrally on the second floor with each camera being an average of 50' - 75' away on the ground floor and I have not noticed any distortion is picture quality, I can clearly identify faces and objects. It is not as clear as a wired system, but there has to be some compromise for wireless. The setup consisted of plugging the base unit into my router and creating an account. The setup wizard walked me through the rest of identifying cameras and setting up the monitoring/alerting mode. It took me about 15 minutes to complete the process. I can't comment on the life of the batteries as I have only had the equipment for about a month, but Netgear states battery life is about 6 months depending usage. There is a battery monitor in the app UI, so you can monitor battery usage. There is a subscription available to store video recordings beyond the free period (7 days I believe). I have not found a need for this and typically discard videos immediately after viewing. The only issue I have with the system and this is clearly on me because I have not fine tuned it; the sensitivity of the cameras and the frequency of alerting. Out of the box, the cameras are extremely sensitive to motion and trigger constantly, which in turn will affect battery life. This requires a little more attention and time to configure. Additionally there is a schedule that can configured for each camera as well as geo-fencing feature recently announced by Netgear. Additionally, I recommend the Netgear Arlo-Q for internal monitoring since it has two sound and 1080p resolution. It's a great addition to Arlo security suite.
