Decided to go look at home security cameras for some sense of security in an apartment. With the apartments, the cameras have to be wireless and I preferred a cloud backup, just in case an intruder smashes the lens. Arlo gives a free 7 day backup up to 1GB. There are paid subscriptions for longer backups and more space, but 1GB is enough for me. The app works with apple for sure, not sure about any other type of phone or windows. Pros: - Easy Set-Up. Took me about 5 minutes to hook up. If you can follow the directions, you'll be good to go. Only about 7 steps. -From the website or app, I can rename the cameras, give priorities, adjust the motion sensing up or down, choose the recorded length of video. You can set it to record anything from 10 seconds to 2 minutes, or manually record as long as you like. - The picture quality is pretty good. My apartment is generally pretty dark, so the camera records in night mode most of the time. - Installation only requires a screw (provided) and the half ball base. - Alerts. The app with alert you when motion is detected and will email you the video. Now the Cons: - Batteries. These cameras don't have rechargeable batteries. They use 4 CR123 per camera. - Audio. No audio going to or from the cameras, but I'm ok with that. - Motion Sensors. I have this camera inside. With 2 dogs, the cameras are always going off. But I'm it will not record the doors opening, only when the human is about 5 steps inside. I'm moving this outside to the doors where there is less movement and getting the arlo q that has 24/7 recording (but is inside only).

For the price and portability and free cloud services, it's not bad but there are much better cameras if you just have time to research.

Battery does not have a long lifespan. So we'd have to change or charge it often like every 2 weeks.

Shipping: Fast and reliable 2-day shipping Set-up: Simple enough for a tech-unsavvy doctorate student to set-up. The wireless feature helps a lot! Cameras/Video Quality: Very good quality and cute looking. The only thing is that I wish it was 1080p and a black color option to be less conspicuous. Very home-friendly and can sit on any flat surface, but not sure if it's possible to adhere the cameras to rough/odd angled walls. App: Works well and easy to connect to connect system. Overall: Definitely a great upgrade from my previous security camera system. Disclaimer: I was part of a select group of individuals selected to test and review the system for free.

Portability and ease of installation are big pluses. Significantly delayed filming a minus as it occasionally fails to catch bandits.
