I can have the cameras right next to the hub and it still tells me that my signal is very poor. Tried everything and nothing seems to work. Would never buy again and wish I would have got the protection plan so I could have returned it. Do not buy.

Solid Wireless Camera Set, Motion Detection OK

I bought this set because the setup seemed easy, which it was. The whole system was up and running within 30 minutes, and I mounted all the cameras with aftermarket mounts within an hour. Getting them to pick up motion early enough to trigger the camera isn't the easiest, it took me about a week to get them good enough. There is about a 5 second delay when you watch, FYI. At $400 for 4 cameras this is a good deal.

Not a fan. Unable to adjust so we are pinged constantly be cars driving by, yet when people approach the door we seem to only get pic of their back. Waste of $300! Try something else!!!

Frequently the cameras loose connection. Horrible slow compared to Dropcam. I liked the wireless until it turned into a nightmare. HAVENT had it a year and 1 camera has already stopped working. Do yourself a favor and buy the dropcam.

This product did not work well for me. I had a lot of blank pictures. Probably because it was too slow to take the picture. The batteries are very expensive also. I quit trying to use it.

    Battery Disaster

Each camera requires 4 batteries each. Odd size batteries, which means expensive. Manual says batteries last up to 2 months. One set died within a week. Another set lasted maybe 3 weeks. Extremely expensive option. I returned the whole set.

Great product but with a caution

The system was very easy to setup but I immediately noticed that one of the cameras had a magenta hue to it. I called Netgear technical support and they had me email some information for their technical staff to evaluate. They came back and said yes, this was defective hardware and they agreed to replace the camera. The sent me an RMA authorization and instructions which included ME having to pay shipping back to Netgear, AND pay for the replacement return if I wanted it expedited. Had I known this in advance I would've boxed it back up and returned it to the store for a replacement. My exchanges with Netgear customer support were thoroughly unsatisfactory with nothing but "canned answers" and no consideration for the fact that this was a defective product "out-of-the-box". I expected better from a company like Netgear, so while I very much like the product itself, I caution against expecting anything from their customer support.

    Overall good security cameras

Arlo HD is an overall decent system. I'll just list pros and cons as I see them. Pros: 1. Completely wireless and can be put/installed anywhere within the base station range 2. Batteries last long, and now you can buy rechargeable ones made by Tenergy specifically for Arlo HD (see arlo web site, they recommend them) 3. Night vision is OK within 8-10 ft. Further away it's problematic. 4. Interface is decent and works both in my Android phone and PC web browser. 5. Free 7-day cloud storage. You can download videos to your phone or computer from the cloud. 6. Magnetic mounts are very convenient. Now Cons: 1. Lag. It takes a few seconds for a camera to wake up and start recording once motion is detected. 2. Android interface is slow and often annoying. Web browser is fast and has no hiccups. 3. Wish night vision worked better at longer distances. 4. Wish there was an option to plug-in power source when available.

nice cameras - but too much of a delay between when motion and cameras start - you actually miss what just happened had to return them and go with a live feed camera that is on all the time

    Amazing Picture Quality

I didn't want to run wires for cameras and I wanted good picture quality. Well these fit the bill in my opinion. I put one on my porch opposite of the sensor light and it picks up a great image of anyone walking up to my door. I have it setup to capture all motion and it will email me directly when it picks up motion. The android and apple apps are good as well. The setup was very easy! I need the adjust and filter out the movement on the street. Battery life seems to be good but only time will tell!

security & a peace of mind

The package came to my home and I immediately installed the Arlo Wire-Free Security System with 3 HD Cameras (VMS3330). The total time needed for the install was about 1 hour. After the three cameras were successfully activated, deciding on the placement of the cameras for the best vantage points took some time. Changing the parameters on arming, disarming, and schedule for the system was very simple and straightforward. Reporting of the alerts came quickly to my cell phone and replaying the videos on my cell & PC. I especially enjoyed the HD video. It provided me with a peace of mind, like a breath of fresh air, that my home has much improved monitoring & the security is assured. I believe the product is worth it, and the performance has met my expectations.

    Lacking

This system would be good for someone that is only interested in a one camera system that is at their front door, or something like that. If you want something that records all the time this isn't for you. There are flaws with the system I could not overlook. It will only record when it detects motion, and only then for the amount of time you have it set for, which is 10 to 120 seconds. If you have it set for 10 seconds in order to save cloud space (that's one of the other problems) once the 10 seconds have passed it stops recording even if motion continues. There is a lag of about 10 seconds before it will start recording again, during which time whatever is happening is lost. Now about the cloud, only 1 gig is free. If you need more than that you have to pay, because setting it up to record to your own hard drive is not supported. Most other systems that come with hard drives come with 1 terabyte, that is a huge difference. The motion detection is also not very good. the camera mounted over my garage would record almost every car driving down my street, but not a car pulling into the driveway. Customer support says the motion detection works best side to side as opposed to straight on. There is also a couple seconds of lag from when the camera detects motion before it starts to record. For an example of how this is a problem I mounted a camera by my front door to record as people walk up to the house. The camera had a view all the way down a 20 foot long sidewalk heading out to the driveway and the garage. As a person would clear the side of the garage, they were clearly visible, but yet the camera would not record until the person was one step from the door, and almost completely out of range for the camera. It would end up with about half a view of their head, and then they'd be out of frame as they stood at the door. All of these recording problems were with the cameras set their highest sensitivity. When I'd drop it to anything below 80 percent it wouldn't record at all. I had the 4 camera system which came with four magnet mounts (not secure at all for outdoor use) and one hard mount. If you want more hard mounts they're $20 each. It kind of feels like being nickled and dimed for a system that isn't all that cheap to begin with. Also the cameras do not appear to very outdoors friendly, even though they claim to be all weather. On paper the arlo looks really good but in practice I was rather disappointed.

This was a very really simple preparation and install. Choose where you want them to go, attach the magnet and start viewing. Day vision perfect and can watch live on my ipad or iphone. Night vision also good when placed near a lighted area. Probably not going to see much when placed in a darkened spot. I can also watch any recorded video immediately after taken. Push notifications are best because you can wind up with a million email notices if you have activity near the cameras.
