    Amazing cameras, simply/easy to use!

I would definitely recommend getting this camera system! Setting it up was incredibly easy. At first my cameras wouldn't sync with the main station but that's because I didn't read the directions carefully (my bad!). You don't hold the sync button down on the base station, just tap it once. When it starts blinking, then you hit the sync button on the camera just once (don't hold it down). I was able to find that out on the Arlo community boards (which are incredibly helpful and you can find them through the app). The video quality is amazing. You can see SO much of each room! We don't have kids yet but I can see how perfect the Arlo camera system would be for kids. The app is also very easy to use - I love how I can check in on my home at anytime from anywhere. The fact that the cameras are wire-free is awesome. Please note, I received this Arlo camera system for free through the NETGEAR Friends & Family program.

I live in Las Vegas and recently received these cameras for review by Netgear. I have been watching this product since, November '15, because I desired a better solution than remoting into my laptop using the built-in webcam, to keep an eye on my home. I needed a wireless, power-independent and aesthetically pleasing solution. I didn't want to deal with running wire, or the HOA architects. These cameras and base station are comparable with professional automation systems, but one third the price. The system was exceptionally easy to install, all I had to do is mount, press the sync button on both the cameras and the base station; they synced with Netgear's cloud, and I was ready to go. I loved the magnetic ball mount, but the compound between the joint seemed brittle, like I could scratch it off easily if I tried. All-in-all the interface is responsive, considering it is purely web based. One can watch passively, continuously record, or run a schedule for motion detection. Sensitivity settings can be adjusted; though I will suggest Netgear programs a way to select a region for motion detection. The mobile app on both Android and iOS are well suited. I live in a 2000 sq.ft, 3 floor home, and get perfect reception all the way up to my roof-top deck, without interference from the myriad of a wireless devices I have throughout my home. This is a high quality, simplicity oriented system, and I would recommend it anyone interested in a home surveillance system.

Easy to set up but not helpful

I was looking for cameras that were easy to set up and not too expensive, and when these went on sale for Black Friday, I jumped on them. I was happy to not have to tear up my house by drilling holes for cable since this uses wifi, and I appreciated that there is free cloud storage for a week and longer if you want to pay. It was simple to synch the camera with the base station to activate it and the resolution seems good. Now for the issues. While this was offered at a decent price for two cameras, I had to buy the mounting units separately because the ones included attach with magnets, so anybody can just grab them and run. I guess I'll have to get skins since they are for outdoor use, too. I also bought a plug-in cord designed for Arlo since the batteries are expensive and from what I read, have to be replaced frequently. Luckily, I have an outlet on the porch where I mounted it. I am not happy that I will frequently have to climb up and replace the batteries when I mount the other one. The major issue I have with this product is that it does not have the option to make it stop recording when motion stops. You can only set it to record for a set amount of time up to 120 seconds once it detects motion. I don't want to wear out the batteries by having it run a long time every time somebody walks by, but I don't want it to stop if the kids are vandalizing my property, which happens often. I guess it's my fault for not researching the products more thoroughly, but I didn't think anybody would design a product that lacked such a basic feature. This will end up costing me more than a wired device that would have been a lot more useful.

Purchased thinking it was a wireless camera system. All it is able to do is just monitor when motion is present.

I have the VueZone cameras and this is far superior. The night vision is excellent and the HD video is super. I just wish I could have gotten a better deal being a VueZone member. No rebates for loyal customers from NetGear

    Not reliable

We purchased the Netgear Arlo wireless surveillance system based on the positive reviews and simply for the convenience factor. We installed all four cameras and initially we were impressed with how simple it was to install and use. Great quality images. We downloaded the app and in a matter of days we were constantly being booted out of the camera, we would leave home and get around the corner and already be booted out of the system. Constant searching for network and buffering. We have a brand new Internet cable that was installed by our cable company, a more expensive speedy Internet package and the Arlo base was literally next to our Internet modem and wifi router and the cameras at the front of our house very close to these as well. Within a week two cameras had dead batteries. FYI apparently batteries need to be replaced every 4-6 months, they are lithium ion batteries which are not cheap (ranging from $3-$10 a peice) and each camera takes 4 batteries each. 16 batteries x 4 = 64 batteries per year @ minimum $3 each = $200/year minimum on batteries. It also says that non name brand batteries aren't recommend and rechargables aren't the best option. Convenient? Maybe to install but have fun getting up on a ladder to change $200 worth of batteries each year! The batteries will drain faster in cold weather. We returned this and bought a wired system. We will pay an electrician what we would have spent on batteries for the first year or two to wire it. The system we bought is wired and wifi...bonus! Swann.

The product was easy to set up and the image is great. I like the fact that the product is wireless. I was told that I will have to replace the batteries every 5-6 weeks setting the camera's up with motion detection. If the camera's were set up to record continuously the batteries would last 2 weeks.

I got this camera kit as part of NETGEAR's review program. Easy set-up & user friendly interface on iOS apps. I am very happy with the video quality. This is my first home security camera and I must say that it gives me peace of mind whenever I am not home. I can view live feed on my phone and gets email notification when it detect any motion.

These camera's are easy to set up and use. They can be installed almost anywhere and moved to different locations. Still learning how to use them but but can be used day and night. Motion sensors can capture movement and sound. Viewing form mobile phone is excellent. Changing batteries may be expensive. Received Arlo Wire-Free Security System with 3 HD Cameras from NETGEAR as part of a review and test program.
