I purchased this because of the great review but I did not consider the battery life only last for 3 mons cost $ $19.95 x how many camera you got. in my case I got 4. So every 3 mons i will spend $79.80 not including tax. for a year you need to spend $239.40 thats a big amount to keep up with this camera. I'm very disappointed due to the cost of this expensive battery. the Quality is by par good, its a fix camera you cant rotate or pan or tilt, no sound and a sort of zoom function but not a full zoom function. This unit is owned by Netgear but its not compatible with Nighthawk Netgear router it will cause you dearly if you have this router. The firmware is causing the arlo not to sync with the router. Trust me I was on that boat and its a nightmare been in conbtact with netgear support for 3 day 3hrs or more trying to solve problem, then I give up cuase i'm like a pingpong ball router say its the arlo and arlo say its the the router and router say its the internet provider and so on. Its a miss!!!! dont buy this first its expensive unit and battery, recording is terrible cant capture the person cause their is recording delay and notice. How i wish i can return this. I bought this last thanks giving. it was working perfectly then i got my netgear nighthawk. the only good side about this unit its wireless.

Have had my system w/5 cameras for 2 months now. Many options to taylor your mode set ups plus the easiest out of box to functional ever. Because of ease for mounting, I was able to relocate cameras several times until perfect coverage of my property. Absolutely love the ability to create modes to choose which cameras motion detectors work for different occasions (eg: All on, At Home, Yard maintenance) when away from home. I have wired system at business, but recommend this for home use. More in depth instructions are available online PDF, eliminating the need for tech support other than product problem, which I've had none.

Arlo HD is an overall decent system. I'll just list pros and cons as I see them. Pros: 1. Completely wireless and can be put/installed anywhere within the base station range 2. Batteries last long, and now you can buy rechargeable ones made by Tenergy specifically for Arlo HD (see arlo web site, they recommend them) 3. Night vision is OK within 8-10 ft. Further away it's problematic. 4. Interface is decent and works both in my Android phone and PC web browser. 5. Free 7-day cloud storage. You can download videos to your phone or computer from the cloud. 6. Magnetic mounts are very convenient. Now Cons: 1. Lag. It takes a few seconds for a camera to wake up and start recording once motion is detected. 2. Android interface is slow and often annoying. Web browser is fast and has no hiccups. 3. Wish night vision worked better at longer distances. 4. Wish there was an option to plug-in power source when available.

I had a Samsung security camera that took me days to set up with multiple calls to Samsung and to my ISP (Cox). I had to set port forwarding on my modem. I also had to buy a Power-Over-Internet router because I did not have power anywhere near the camera. I had to drill a hole in the house to get the internet line out to the camera. It would have been an impossible task for most people to overcome. Now, along comes the Arlo security camera. What a difference. I plugged the box into my modem, sync'd with the camera, downloaded the app, and I am up an running. I can put the camera anywhere because it does not need a power cord or an internet cable. The picture is great. I can now monitor my house in AZ from my other location in VA - instantly on my iPhone. This is fantastic!

I purchased this camera as an addition to my existing Swann surveillance system because I wanted a notification/alert service that my DVR did not offer. I did tons of research and first bought the Samsung smartcam HD. I returned it the next day. This item was SUPER easy to set up and there was no IT headache! I just plugged the "base" into my router, then synced it to the camera and that's it! I downloaded the free app and put it on my desktop and I made some small personal adjustments and it was perfect. **What makes this so great is that it emails a snapshot of whatever or whoever triggers the motion sensor and then emails it to me! So not only can I log into the app and view an actual video clip, but I get instant emails of a snapshot so if it is nothing then I don't have to log in. Most other IP cameras will email a "notification" that says that motion was detected in area X without a picture.

I use this to view deer at my tree stands..I had a trail cam wifi but returned it because it wasn't working the way I liked. I purchased this and it is awesome. I even have an additional camera and will be getting all 5. It is in the woods a good 40-50 yds away and I still have three bars. Awesome..When I purchased it ..it came with defective batteries. I contacted customer service and they sent me 8 new ones.

I received this 3 camera kit as part of NETGEAR's First Look review program. The longest part of the whole installation was to decide where to put the base station and where I would mount the cameras. Everything else was seamless and pain free. The quality of the picture was crisp, and the unit itself was sturdy. The magnet on the camera was super strong and once positioned, did not move an inch. I had a camera directly outside during heavy rain a couple weeks ago, and it worked flawlessly. The videos were able to be pulled up on demand. All in all, the only setback for me was myself. The app, the camera, the whole package just worked as advertised. Best of all, I did not need to run any wires. Period.

My husband and I found the product very user friendly, but one of the cameras did not work, there was no phone number, so we contacted net gear themselves. On hold for over a half hour before someone answered, the gentleman was very helpful but was unable to help with the issue once he narrowed it down, he said they would contact us via email or by phone in 24 to 48 hours, well 72 hours has gone by, no email no phone call, it is packaged up and being returned today.

This is really a good system! I was (still am a little) worried about the battery life but after messing around with coverage zones and the programmable recording "rules" I think battery life will be very manageable. My only regret is that i started with the single camera set up and now that I'm adding cameras that was not a very cost effective way to get into the system. Just go for the 4 camera system it will be the cheapest in the long run...do the math.
