    Poor-don't waste your money

I have had these cameras for 4 months now and have spent untold hours trying to get them to work properly. They are easy to install but in the 4 camera set, one did not work right out of the box and it took weeks of jumping through hoops to get a replacement from Netgear. As others have mentioned, motion detection kick in is so delayed that it renders the cameras to essentially be useless. UNACCEPTABLE for a product that costs this much. Netgear should be ashamed. This system provides absolutely zero security because of its flaws, so it should not be purchased for that purpose.

    Very easy setup, bonus accessories

Note: The best buy version has about $25 worth of extra accessories: 6 magnetic mounts instead of 4 and 1 outdoor adjustable mount. You should check the box to ensure it says it has this as the Best Buy website doesn't say it. Honestly, it takes longer to open the packaging (they screw in the cameras to hard to open plastic holders to avoid theft in the store). The setup is very simple (plug in Ethernet to base station, power on, press synch button on both base and cameras). Everything else is on the website or app. Camera quality day and night is good (not cell phone quality but better than most). Haven't had it long enough to test battery life.

    Great with a few complaints

Quality is great. Notifications are timely. They make it really easy to quickly view the recording (Looks like it gets uploaded to AWS and you don't have to be logged in to view it...just need to have the link. So keep that in mind if you have these inside the house). An absolute breeze to set up. Only complaint, and maybe these options exist and I just don't see it, is regarding their web interface. I wish it had a "Turn this camera off" feature. This would have come in handy when I had some workers in the backyard. I would also like to see multiple recording schedules as an option. For example, I'd like to flip to a vacation schedule that records 24/7 instead of my normal schedule that only records during working hours and overnight. One thing to keep in mind is this is an internet dependent device. So, if a bad guy cuts your internet first, no recording is going to happen if your base station is attached said internet. If this is a concern, might look into routers with 4G failover capabilities.

    Great system so far

Cameras have a very clear image, easy to setup, only had for a week now but so far I like them very well. Only thing I would change would be to add a setting to allow users to set a distance away from the camera before the motion activation would be allowed to start. Right now if a bug goes in front of the camera they turn on.

Do not use double stick tape as instructed if using outdoors, it doesn't hold. But very easy mount "if" using indoors. Great picture quality. Wish you could arm & disarm each camera separately. Lags in time & I have a have to refresh the cameras while watching.

This is by far the simplest video security system I have ever setup. I would recommend it to anyone looks for a general home surveillance system, however, if you are looking for something with much more customization features or specifics, this isn't something you're going to want. With Arlo being such a new product from Netgear, they are already pumping out firmware updates and software feature in the few weeks i have owned this, so there are many things to look forward too from Netgear. This is for someone that wants very basic video screening and if you stick with the 1GB free service, you wont be able to look back very far if you have (5) cameras constantly hitting motion record. Because this is a record-to-cloud ONLY system, there is also about a 3 second delay from when it senses motion, to the time it starts recording to the cloud, so again, not a very evasive security system if your wanting to grab every frame from your specified motion detecting schedule.

    A battery life

I've had my Arlo system for about two years and can now say this system is not the greatest in price and ease. It all has to do with how long the battery will last for and how much they cost. I have a four camera system I run on medium settings on my front door & one in my backyard. The other two are in the middle and based on differnet uses the one that gets used the most I have to change the batteries every 5 months and the others around 7 months. They each take two batteries 4 of them cost around $20 dollars at best buy. After a year for each camera you're looking at $40 dollars. I would recommend the pro cameras they last longer without a battery change.

Purchased this brand of camera based on a friend that had it and loved it for his outside areas. It mounted and set up pretty easily - works great after you test the sensitivity level a few times depending on where you mount the camera. We use it mostly for our front porch and driveway area to keep an eye on our cars and who comes to the door. Still figuring out the adjustment to catch the road - if we adjust the sensitivity to catch the road it captures all the wasps and flying bugs and goes off all the time. But still happy with what we are getting.

Camera is a poor camera for property protection. Camera's night vision is very poor over 20 ft. Camera cannot be mounted in a tree like they advertise unless the tree is leafless because the camera records based on motion, and every time the leaves move, the camera records. Software is not intuitive. Camera batteries are low after two weeks, and the batteries are 123 batteries which are expensive and hard to find. This camera is for recording indoors.

    Not reliable

Bought this to be able to monitor my home live anytime needed plus record with motion detect. Hooked everything up and everything worked find for 2 hours. Had it on my Desktop PC and 2 smartphones and a tablet "in which you can only sign in on only ONE device at time". Notice that my PC starting saying the system is offline couldn't get a live feed or anything. Had 3 green sold lights which means everything is working normally. Grabbed my smartphone and everything was working great, did some trouble shooting and they blame my firewall in which I have no I'm not a computer wiz and not going to miss around with that. So ok working on my smartphones and tablet so I can live with that. Here's where things went bad...Time for bed, have camera watching my bike I decided to leave out since I'm riding again the next day. I hear a noise at 1am, keep in mind that everything is working fine at 11pm, grab my tablet, hit the arlo button and NOTHING...YOUR SYSTEM IS OFFLINE...I jump out of bed steaming hot now to check on my bike and take a look at the base station and all 3 green lights are solid green meaning everything is working fine? Tried everything from restarting my phones and tablet to rebooting my router to resetting the arlo system, in which everytime the led lights indicated that everything was operating as it should...power on, cameras good, Internet connection good...Trouble shooted till 5am this morning to no prevail...finally said to heII with it and went to bed. Just woke up at 9:20 am and check my phone and it's working??? I didn't pay 499.99 for surveillance whenever it takes the notion to give it to me...I paid 499.99 for surveillance whenever I take the notion to use it...I have no idea what happen around my house between the hours of 1am to 6am when I needed motion detection plus live feed the most...packing this system back up now and will be returning

    Awesome Camera

Great camera, at first I was a little disappointed since I kept losing connection between the cameras. All I had to do was re-synced them again, it took me a few hours after playing with the system to get the hang of it. Now, I love it. I can leave the house and know exactly what's going on. I love the different features and creating your own rules with the motion sensors. I think net-gear did an outstanding job with this one. I plan on ordering another camera for the yard.

    DO NOT BUY ARLO

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought the whole Arlo system (4 cameras and the base station) in September, 2015. At the time, I owned 2 NEST cameras. I wanted to put cameras where there was no power, so I opted for Arlo. BAD CHOICE. My total cost of ownership so far is this: Purchase price = $534.93 including tax On Line Storage (Needed to look at history) = $159.43 Battery replacements costs (in just over 5 months) = 103.22 Total for under 6 months = $797.58 I have one of the 4 cameras that now will not sync with the base. Arlo support is useless, it is just on line forums and a chat. I tried 4 remedies recommended by the forums and 1 recommended by the chat, none worked. I demanded a new camera. The NetGear (they own Arlo) agent said I had to supply a photo of serial number, proof of purchase and shipping address. After I did all that, they said I had to try one more remedy, which will require me to go purchase a micro USB cable. I wish I had never spent this money. I could have spent half this much and run power to where I want the NEST cameras. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

    Rapid Consumption of Batteries

I purchased 2 of these cameras for the purpose of watching my puppies when I am away from home. At first I was happy with the quality of the pictures, but the motion detection has a delay which often misses part of the action I am trying to review (which dog is having "accidents"). But my greatest disappointment is the rapid consumption of batteries. Each camera takes 4 of the expensive short batteries, and they only last about 3 weeks. I've adjusted all the settings and have not gotten more time for the batteries. I can't afford new batteries every 2 or three weeks, so I have ceased using the cameras. A very, very disappointed buyer.

I have many connected IoT devices. The Arlo is simple to connect and simple to use. So much better than Nest and Smartthings. day and night vision works pretty good. Get email and mobile alerts on motion detection and it saves the video! very cool. And the magnetic mount is awesome. Have not used long enough to know how battery performs. Gonna buy some more for around the house.

    Outstanding Video Quality...Easy to use

I couldn't be happier with the Arlo System. The setup took me about 15 to 20 minutes. The instructions couldn't have been more straight forward. I have the basic (Free) cloud storage. Since the system allows you to download videos that might be important, I don't know why you'd need more than the seven day storage for home use. The video quality at both day and night is incredible. The apps to access the system from my phone, tablet and computer have worked flawlessly. I am able to look in at any or all cameras at any point in time. If motion activates a camera, I am notified via an email on my phone, tablet and computer and can see what is going on instantly. Furthermore, if someone does enter our home when we aren't there, I could call the authorities and tell them what the intruders look like and where they are located in my home. If we are not able to be reached on a phone or the internet due to be off the grid...maybe while flying...we are able to forward the notifications to other family or friends so that they could monitor things during the windows of us being off the grid. We don't have our system up while we are in the house. Therefore, our batteries are now at 5 plus months and still show a full charge. We activate the system when leaving the house of sleeping. The charge status and wifi strength of each camera is shown on your phone, tablet or computer. I like having control of us calling authorities if needed...rather than having to rely upon a third party to make that determination. Additionally, limiting those who know our patterns to ourselves is a plus too. Do you really want a "monitoring" company to know when you are home or not? This system works great for us...and might be an option you should consider too.

I got the 4 camera pack from best buy. I wasn't very sure and had planned to return after 2 week review. it has been 3 months and boy i am keeping it. Funny thing, you start looking at other products and start comparing after buying something..human nature i guess. I am yet to find a comparable product. you guys got it totally right. I love the fact that it is 100% wire-free. I have used for 3 months and batteries are just 10% depleted. One suggestion...use it as intended. This is not for recording 24x7. it is 'motion sensed recording' only and keep it at 10 second video intervals. you dont need any more.

caveat: I have only owned this camera for less than 24 hours. The set up was incredibly easy. After 15 minutes, it was up and running. Both the iPhone app and the website are easy to use as well. It records motion well (although so far it is only my dog!).

Let me start by saying what is most important I had the hardest time finding information I saw some people saying dvr there are USB ports on the back I still don't know what they are for. There is no manual that come it's the box. They advertise as a baby monitor which is the number one reason I bought it. So after installing they system no sound. What the heck so I searched in the forms yep no sound capability. Stop pack it back to the store I go for a refund. I also noticed that on the Best Buy site under features it's listed 130deg field of view. Right on the box it says 110deg I really do like the concept but no sound is a deal breaker Also said there was digital pan and tilt did not see that feature other than the ability to move around the image once zoomed I am really disappointed that it's so hard to find the information I was looking for. Just put a dam manual in the box. But since I was unable to see the image with light I can not give my opinion on the quality but in low light the image was good Also there is about a 2sec delay in the video feed
