    Dead On Arrival

I had hoped this would be a good experience. I bought the four camera system, planning to install it on a construction site. I decided to try setting it up at home first. I'm glad I did. I connected the base unit to my router, plugged it in and turned on the power switch. The unit flashed all of the LEDs, then flashed the power LED in amber and then flashes repeatedly in green from that point on. No other signs of life. I looked on line and found how to do a factory reset. I performed that, but it appeared to have no effect at all on the unit, it just flashes a green power LED. I called support and ran through all of this again. The tech actually asked me if I had a spare 12 volt power supply I could try. Oddly, I did have a 12 volt 2 amp power supply I had purchased for an IR illuminator! I tried it, but that did not help. My case needed to be escalated. To do that I had to forward my proof of purchase (BestBuy receipt) and a photo of my serial number along with my case number to [email protected]. Can we make this hard for consumers? Ok, let's do that! Now I'm pretty sure this thing is Dead On Arrival. I will wait for a few hours to see if I get a call from 2nd level tech support (really? For an apparent DOA?). If I don't get a call back, I'll drive this to Best Buy tomorrow and return it. I'm not sure I have the desire to try this again. I've purchased seven Dropcams and only had one DOA there. The rest all set up in a matter of minutes.

    Great for Indoor use

I have only used this camera indoors , so that's my only experience. Set-up was easy. There is a bit of a learning curve with camera placement ad customization. For example you can record up to 2 minutes, but it is a 10 sec default. Would have been nice to know that before having to search the info out on the community. You can also adjust the motion sensitivity etc. I am excited that they now offer a camera with sound!

    Helped bust bad pet sitter

We purchased two of these cameras to check on our cat sitter while we were out of town for a long 3-day weekend & put 1 in LR & 1 in upstairs office facing hallway.. Using the motion detector function we clearly saw on our phone in both real & recorded time that she fed the 3 cats twice a day and that was it for $50/day. She sat messing w/her phone while they were eating, didn't play with them, didn't clean the litter box until the last day, no fresh water, & forgot at least one of them in a room alone with the door closed after feeding & left for 10 hrs. Our neighbor called as we were getting off the plane back home to say our front door was wide open inside the screen door & were we home yet (NO) so he pulled it closed. We saw her messing with the door on a recording, but it cut off right before she opened it. She swore she never touched the front door only the back but we have it on a recording. Never using her again & she works at our vet!! Thank you new wireless cameras!! We never would have known otherwise about her 10 min visits that were supposed to be 1/2 hr. Only drawback to cameras is about 10-15 second delay in real time.

These are purely eye candy and do not function well or correctly what so ever. Support, software, functionality and quality are just garbage. The batteries don not work in cold weather either so garage or outside is out of the question in colder areas. Batteries are not cheap and when you do need to change them, which is pain, you must re position all cameras all over. Netgear is not the name I thought it was and will NEVER buy another product from them ever again.

    What happened to the batteries

The big downfall with the Arlo wireless camera is the battery life. We bought two camera's, the skins, the mounts and everything else to make a nice security system for our home. We can't trust them while we travel the battery life is only about 5 days, the need to be rebooted about once a week. I have to been to our local Best Buy and talked with them many times concerning this matter. The last young man I talked to said that Arlo had some trouble with some of the camera's going through batteries to quickly and suggested I work with them. If and that is a IF you can or could ever get ahold of the Arlo people it would be a miracle. So here we sit we are senior citizens who have invested over $500.00 on a system that is when it works but that is not very often. Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated as the batteries are costing us a fortune and we purchased this as we thought it would be so nice to have not only while at home but also traveling. I think it has been big drain on our budget and patience. Thank you for any help you can give us.

    Excellent cameras!

By far the best wireless cameras on the market. The picture quality is far better than any other system I've tried. The most important thing to me is that they are 100% wireless. They don't need to be plugged into a wall outlet as they run on batteries. Battery life seems to be good so far. I love the mounting system in that everything is magnetic. It's repositionable but yet very sturdy and reliable. The app is also very user friendly. I would highly recommend this product!!

    Do Not Buy

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

DO NOT BUY!! I owned the product for 6 months. It went offline every few days, requiring me to take it down, remove the battery and put the battery back in to get it online again. Out of 180 days, it was offline approximately 150 days. I spent $80 on batteries even though it was rarely recording. Arlo acknowledged the problem and agreed to replace. Promised they’d ship new camera, called after agreed upon date I was to receive, hadn’t shipped. Then they said they’d replace if I sent my camera back first. Sent my camera in the original box with all components and instructions. They shipped me a camera, no mount, no cords, no instructions, no box. Completely useless. Spent 3 hours and 8 minutes on phone one day, am now on the phone again for an hour and a half, no resolution. Horrible service!

Theft in my house and I can't see the recordings!!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I asked customer service about the missing recordings, I saw the alert in my phone and the image but I can't see the recording. Customer service sent all the recording of that day that I can see except for the ones that I missed. Very poor customer service. They told me that they are going to escalate the problem but they keep me sending emails telling me that the issue is important for them and asking me if they can help me with something else. I spoke with them and I told them that I need this recording because somebody robe some Christmas presents from my house and I need to see the recordings, (this is not the only one that I miss so far ) sometimes I can't see some of the videos from other days either. So, I think that I need to get other cameras because these cameras are not good and I have the feeling that the customer service is not taking seriously my request. The Name of the person that is taking my case is Jose from Technical support - NETGEAR® Today is January 31,2016 and I have the problem 45 days ago.

    Good product, terrible support

Purchased product in store. One camera did not work correctly at night (infra red did not work). I opened a ticket with Netgear and it took them 4 days to determine I needed a replacement camera. So they told me to ship the old one back and I will get a new one sent to me once they received it. They told me I was responsible for shipping costs even though they acknowledged they sold a faulty product. Great system otherwise, TERRIBLE SUPPORT. I can't recommend the product because of the support.

The Arlo setup was a breeze - plug the base unit into the router, join the cameras, done. I put the Arlo app on my iPhone and I get motion alerts in near real-time. Motion sensitivity and recording time are configurable. Video quality is decent. Manually controlled live recording is available. The Arlo website is minimal and relatively easy to use - it does what it needs to.

    Battery Life is Horrible

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased this on Black Friday and it's 2 days later and the batteries depleted to 2 bars (3 bars = full battery#. The set comes with 16 batteries #each camera requires 4) it would be extremely expensive to purchase batteries, especially at the rate these depleted. BTW I chose the "balanced" option which saves battery life. Very frustrated with this purchase and will be returning for another system.

I bought these a couple yrs ago they were nice for 2 weeks until I realized you have to buy new batteries every couple of weeks and they are expensive not to mention 16 batteries total. I then bought rechargeable ones on Ebay, once per week I have to charge each one just to keep them running. On top of the huge job of keeping these charged 1 of the cameras stopped picking up motion after a few months so it became useless pretty expensive for a non-working camera. I keep trying to get the other 3 to sync up to the base but when I get one to sync it knocks the 3rd one off, I can't get 3 working cameras and I paid for 4. Pretty bad deal for the price but when they work they are nice I just didn't think I'd get half the product and a 3rd job.

RUN OUT OF BATTERY IN 3 MONTHS

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The battery runs out(dead) a week short of its 3rd month of installation. I suspect that the plants leaves movements have triggered the cam causing it to almost always on recording mode and drianed the juice dead. Avoid focusing this cam on plants/leaves that moves even on light breeze. Or even near pets. That said, i still wonder why the camera records few seconds too slow and only runs for 10 seconds, not good coz you only catch the end part of the action. Dont know if recoding time length can be tweaked at all up to 20 second, and to start recoding with in one second of motion detection and not after 5 seconds later. This is a real users review

This system is a joke. I have no confidence in it. It's offline almost all the time. It needs to be rebooted very 3 days. Battery life is beyond bad 3 weeks max. Tech support is in some third world country and is no help. That is if you can find the number to call and have 40 mins to wait before speaking to somebody. Don't walk but run from this garbag system.
