don't wast your money for outside use

Terrible motion detection. Constantly picking up insects, cars, leaves blowing, but often misses people walking past the camera. You will spend a lot of money replacing batteries. I have already had one camera replaced 3 times, and it still doesn't work properly. Might be ok for inside use, but not outside.

    Great Camera

This little camera was easy to conceal and works great! Easy enough to set up. Would definitely recommend it for basic surveillance. I only used it in a small office so I don't know how it would do outdoors or in a larger area, but I think it would do fine.

    Replacing batteries monthly gets expensive!

I bought this system for my beauty salon. I love how easy it was to set up and use, but I'm replacing the batteries every 3-4 weeks. I've searched for solutions dozens of times online, changed settings, done everything I could find to fix it. Not worth a dozen $2 batteries each month.

    Joke

I purchased a 3 camera set and install was flawless. All cameras worked perfect in their locations for months. Then one day 2 out of the 3 decided that they did not want to connect to the base station. I went back and forth with customer support and got 1 of the 2 defective cameras replaced due to “hardware” issues. Now remember the 2nd defective camera is having the same issue and still no replacement camera for it. I went back and forth with customer support for 3 MONTHS with them telling me to do the same couple of things over and over and get the same outcome. Today they respond back to me and tell me that my camera is now out of its warranty period and that they cannot do anything about it now. I am taking my business elsewhere and i would not even pay someone to purchase these cameras.

    Didnt work right

So, i read the reviews before buying, overall good but unfortunately that wasn't the case for me. Set up was fast, mount was fairly easy but 2 of the cameras in the place i put them only went off every once in awhile. In fairness this could be the signal not being reached to the router, although it says 300 feet and mine was set much much less, maybe 15 feet, and still nothing. The alert zone and the sensitivity did not work for NOTHING. Now i also read about the battery dying fast, in just the testing phase the camera battery went from 98 to 93 in about a day. App also wasn't great, i have an android so maybe its different from the iphone. overall did not like it and i returned it.

Easy to set up for outdoors. Great viewing area. The only drawback I could see was the battery life. Only lasted two days. Not sure what I did wrong, except constantly go live. I used the batteries that came with the package.

Camera definition looks pretty good and pretty easy hookup instructions I use it for a business so I figured you could record at will but only has certain features, for the price you pay for this device you would think It would also have sound. The reason I gave it a 1 star was once your batteries die buying new ones are not cheap. You need four +123 batteries and the price for these are ridiculous, I believe I paid $17 for two of them so every couple months get ready to spend around $40 on new batteries..

    mostly overpriced webcam

the review summary pretty much sums it up. There is at least a 2-5 second delay from the time the motion sensors kick in to the actual recording time. In our short experience with the system thus far and reviews from arlo q&a it is a completely substantiated experience. With that being said, if the motion sensor kicks in and doesn't catch on video what set it off, then what good is the system for security measures? It's pretty much an overpriced webcam system. I would not recommend you rely on this as a security system. At 720p and best video quality it's still not the best i've seen for less money.

    Buyer Beware

I bought this system about 2 1/2 years ago. After about 3 months I added two more cameras. The batteries only last about 2 to 3 weeks if you actually use these as a security measure. The batteries cost about $40.00 for four at a discount retailer. When rechargeables were available, I switched. These proved no better except I only had to recharge them every two weeks. These cameras are supposed to have a 300 foot range. Mine are only about 50 feet from the base. After about 1 1/2 years they just started going offline. Even pushing the resync button does get them up. I have to open the battery case or replace batteries, sometimes every other day. I now have two cameras that died, and won't resync. One would never take an update, it kept going offline during the process, and was 2 feet from the base. I am now down to 2 cameras, one of which goes offline almost every day. I believe the wi fi drivers in the cameras become week over a period of time causing the batteries to be discharged quickly. Everyone says that walls, etc affect the cameras range, but a door and one wall shouldn't account for 250 feet of loss. I spent $700 to $900 on the initial system, two additional cameras, all the regular and rechargeable batteries, extra mounts, and this doesn't include my time for troubleshooting, testing these cameras when they stop working, and changing batteries. For this much money I could have bought a REAL system and had it installed. If you buy these beware. People rate them well, after having them for a few weeks, wait until they get about a year or two old. I'm replacing mine with a NVR system, and definitely not ARLO.

    Not a Security Camera

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Wow, these cameras start out to be cool, but fall flat. These are NOT security cameras. They do not activate when something is in the picture and there is no setting to keep them activated while something in the view. I've owned these for over a year and wish I had returned them. I've complained to Netgear and even signed up as a beta tester. Netgear has been testing new firmware on my cameras for over 6 months and they are still junk. I am going back to hard-wired system. In order for these to be any good you would need three to four cameras watching an area the size of a small bathroom 6'x6', as that's all they pick up. The reliable distance for the camera to even start recording is less than 5 feet, and then by the time it does start, it misses what ever activated the camera in the first place. Don't Buy, don't waste your money, you will regret it. I regret buying these everyday. I wish there was something less than 1 star as that's all these cameras are worth.

Got it home setup appeared to be easy but for some strange reason the cameras kept going offline. I have dealt with this for two weeks and now the batteries are low. There is no way this will last on the market for the price listed.

These cameras are good if you want to check in on your pets from time to time while away from home. The motion detector has a short range and only records up to 2 minutes. The video quality is not worth the money, especially at night!!!The battery life is terrible. I have had one camera on only at night from 11pm to 8am for the past 7 days and the battery percentage is at 68%. . We are going to get a hardware, 1080P security camera. I would not recommend this product if you want to catch thieves.

I'm giving this 5 stars because its exactly what I was looking for it to do for my needs. Thats the key here--having the right expectation. If your expecting a full fledged security system then this isn't the answer for you. I was looking for a simple product with hassle-free setup that I could use to monitor my pets while I'm away from the house. It performs this task rather admirably. If I could have asked for one more thing, it would be that the cameras have a wider field of view. Anyway highly recommend.

Poor video quality - record lag - poor batteries

Pros: wireless Cons: the included batteries lasted 1.5 days, which is WAY below te 4-6 month claim. there was minimal detection when it was in use. AND when it was in use, there was a delay from what was recorded - ie, someone walked into my office, it didn't pick up the motion until the person walked out of my office, which showed the back of the persons' head. Also, the quality of the recordings are way below then what the competition is offering. will be returning the product.

I love it however, costly when it comes to batteries. I just bought new batteries. Only used for 2 days and half and now it's 53% already. I'm gonna be buying batteries every week for almost $30 cost. I wonder if other batteries are better than Panasonic?
