For the price I'm happy
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this router because my previous setup was unable to reach the 400mbps download / 20mbps upload I upgraded to. This router gets 400-460/20-24 consistently. But one issue I ran into that had me scratching my head for a while was while "Traffic Meter" was enabled the router was only able to manager 250-270mbps download. Disabling the feature brought speeds up by 200mbps, I wouldn't think monitoring how much data passes through should have such an impact on the throughput so I hope netgear sorts this out in future firmware releases. I have the RAX20 connected to a Nighthawk Mesh X6S Tri-Band Extender and have had great results. I'm not sure what the expected throughput is for AC transfers but I get 270mbps on the 5Ghz network. I was hoping for faster but I'm assuming my laptop is the bottleneck here. The WNIC in my laptop is a RTL8821CE (Wifi 5 / AC) so I have no input on how the Wifi 6 (AX) performs.

Router Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced an old Belkin router with the Netgear AX1800. Immediately my internet speed, steadiness & coverage throughout the house improved. I only wish I'd done it sooner.

Router stopped working
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately like others this didn't even last a day. It worked great for the few hours that it did but after it kept on cutting out and rebooting itself and then just stopped working and connecting. I even tried resetting it with a paperclip and it wouldn't even do that. It got stuck on these two lights most of the time. I've only ever had to return one item in my time of buying things and this will be the second its unfortunate that it didn't work properly since I recently got gigabit internet.

Great speed. Great range.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t normally take the time to write reviews but I felt it was necessary, especially considering for those looking to purchase this as there’s not much information on it yet. First, setup is super easy. Can be done from your phone, or PC. After getting it setup I tested range and speed after connecting all devices. I must say I’m impressed. I only have the 100mbps plan from spectrum but consistently averaged around 117mbps. Never came close to that on my old modem/router combo. Yes it was aged and outdated. However I purchased many routers. Different brands, different models. None were acceptable. Returned them all. While I had a decent speed I had the same range problem. With my bedroom being at the far end of where my router is placed I’d be lucky to get 10mbps. Netflix and Hulu were a nightmare trying to watch. Constantly buffering or losing connection. With all failed attempts I gave up. That is until WiFi 6 routers started hitting the market. Being a Netgear fan and not wanting one that looked like a space ship I decided to give it a shot once this entry level router was released. Very impressed so far. Even with multiple devices connected and being used I managed to still pull around 110mbps in the far bedroom. Finally I found a router with great speed and range. So far my iPhone 11 Pro is my only device that supports WiFi 6. I do plan on upgrading the WiFi card in my 2019 ThinkPad for future use. Overall I’m satisfied and very pleased. My only complaint is the price, but that’s expected with new technology. So if you’re looking for an entry level WiFi 6 router with a traditional design this is the one. Highly recommend.

Seems to keep up with the demands of the household
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our family relies heavily on the internet connection in the home. My 14yr old is constantly playing games on his high powered " Gamers Laptop" my 10yr old is often on her tablet and my 8yrs old is often on his tablet or playing his switch online or while they stream movies from Netflix in thier bedroom. All the while my wife will be streaming movies on our 4k samsung 75" TV and it never flops , maybe once in a while it will drop out but I dont think that's the routers issue but more of the service providers issue. The router is good , not so great as we get to the back of the house but I plan to remedy that with an extender soon. I didn't give 5 full stars due to the distance limitations. As our old router would freeze up occasionally before it finally died but at least it threw a good strong signal throughout the house, and it cost about $100 )less than the one I am reviewing. Happy over all and would recommend to others for sure

Super Router!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using this router in combo with default Arris TM1602 modem supplied by Spectrum Internet and the WiFi signal is being pushed to all corners of our home at max speed. Product promoted as being for 1,300 square-foot area, but our place is 2,200 square feet and coverage is superb. Easy set-up with Netgear mobile app. TV at other end of house able to stream well through Roku Ultra.

Great wireless router, Wifi 6 shines :-)
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had an Asus wifi router previously for the past 5-6 years, and of late it had started dropping signal for various devices in our home, having all 4 LAN ports occupied by my PC and 3 consoles, the wifi utilized by 2 smartphones, a wireless printer, and Amazon Echo, and periodically 2 laptops. The laptops in particular seemed to be losing signal or not connecting altogether multiple times a week, such that I figured it's time to upgrade. This router has been an excellent fit for us, especially enjoying the new throughput capabilities of WIFI 6 such that our devices almost never drop signal or disconnect; every now and then this has happened, but incredibly rarely and easily fixable by rebooting the router. Speeds seem solid and consistent across all devices as well, whether wire or wireless, especially impressed with the 5Ghz performance. Highly recommend this router!

Small AX Router that Packs a Punch!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wanted an inexpensive entry AX router to replace my existing AC router (Asus RT-AC86U) and to use until WiFi 6 enters Final Draft down the line and purchase a beefier AX router then. The Netgear RAX 20 is perfect for small to medium homes as mentioned in the product description. Small footprint compared to today’s gigantic routers but don’t let the size fool you. This little things is blazing fast (getting 420+ down speed on a 400 plan) and streaming on multiple platforms with no issue. Performs noticeably better than my Asus AC router mentioned above. Setup is also fairly easy using the Netgear app but can be a little frustrating as it takes some time to get going. Personally I prefer doing it the old fashioned way via network cable, PC/laptop and a browser. You can also personalize the router settings to your liking through the “advanced features” tab. Keep in mind that if you have a large home or a 2-story home then you’d probably be better off selecting a different AX router like the Netgear RAX 80 or RAX200 model because of the increased range required to reach further corners. But for small/medium places this router gets it done -especially for under $200!

Easy set up and stable signal.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When a very old (and until now, trouble free) Netgear router finally bit the dust, I knew I had to buy this brand again. Netgear products have always served me well. This router is a breeze to set up, but you do need to have a smart phone (and their app) to do so. I was up and running in minutes. It has improved WIFI signal distance over the previous router, and has been very stable. I'd say it's a very good buy in a mid-priced router.

Solved my problem
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After repeated calls to my internet provider, Fiber 100 mps that speed tests with a wireless device at single digit speeds like 3 mps. I upgraded my service to 500 mps and achieved a blazing 20-30 mps. I walked in to Best Buy and the sales person recommended the Netgear RAX20 router and stay with my provided modem. After setup (super easy with the smartphone app) I speed tested my Macbook Air wireless 150-200 mps! The whole house is moving at a very acceptable speed!

Boosted Speed and Range
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is amazing! But there are a couple shortfalls. Firstly, this router nearly doubled my speed! I went from getting 50-70Mbps to 120-150Mbps! So that is awesome! Second, I have noticed a range improvement which is also nice. The app is nice to have as well but it’s very slow and seems a little lacking in my opinion. Now for a couple cons. For one, I’ve noticed that a couple devices (mainly my Visio TV) have issues randomly losing connection but then promptly regaining it. Not sure if this is a firmware issue with the router or TV. And lastly, I find it very annoying that router doesn’t automatically turn on when power is restored, from say a storm knocking out the power. Maybe there’s a setting somewhere to enable but his but I have yet to find it. But overall I really enjoy this router and hope that some future updates make things better. I also haven’t used the VPN feature but I think it’s very cool and sounds exciting.

Don’t pass on this one.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Get a mesh system they said…. After a month of my mesh system I had to go back to a Netgear wireless route. This one has all the umph you need. Plenty of ports to connect the things that aren’t wireless and most importantly, it will run all of your older equipment that requires a 2.8ghz signal. As a bonus feature it’s a easy to install and the app for it is wonderful.

Excellent router, aside from 1 fixable problem
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got it on sale for $99, and at that price it was hard to pass up. I needed a new router as my current spectrum router didn’t allow the user to make adjustments to the settings due to “simplicity sake” or some dumb excuse (spectrum probably doesn’t want the end user to see their backend data). So I picked this one up. During the setup, I encountered an error where I could never actually connect to the internet. Upon a quick google search I learned that sometimes this router ships with bad firmware and needs to be updated. After I did that the router works flawlessly. I’m getting 450-500 download on the 5G band with my iPhone 11 (a few feet from the router) which is pretty good for my gigabit connection. Wired is obviously much faster, as this does have gigabit LAN. Signal strength is excellent too, as when I go into my living room about 60 feet away the speed only drops into the 300’s. The web portal is very simple and easy to navigate which is always nice. It also is able to be controlled via the Nighthawk app on your phone, but I opted to skip that as I don’t really need it. Though the app did work great when I used it. Would definitely recommend this router IF you have WiFi 6 compatible devices (iPhone 11 for example) and if you have a fast internet connection (really anything above 100 mbps). Also the lights may be a bit bright, but you can always cover them with masking tape to dim them a bunch.
