Customers are saying

Customers highly value the ease of use, performance, and range of this Dual-Band AC1200 Router with 8 x 4 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. Many appreciate its strong WiFi signal, good coverage, and relatively easy setup process, considering it a good value for the price. While some users noted that the device can get warm, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs this concern for most. The modem's compatibility with various internet providers is also frequently praised.

    Piece of junk

Don't buy this piece of junk. We were getting such sketchy internet in our home and we thought maybe we were going to need a mesh router. We thought the problem was that our home is two stories and maybe the router couldn't reach everywhere. That didn't explain why devices close by didn't work well all the time, however. We finally went back to renting from Xfinity and found out that the problem was the router. Unfortunately, we made this discovery too late to return this device to Best Buy and Netgear does not offer refunds. Good luck to you if you buy it!

This router is not worth the amount it cost. the range on this router is not far at all and the speed is so slow. We pay for 150mbps and the this router decreased it to 50 as soon as we got the new router we were getting 120 download constantly which was a huge improvement

    5-year-old router, still a beast

Bought one of these 5 years ago this month, still works like a CHARM. Android Nighthawk app is fully compatible, only issue I've noticed is that it sometimes doesn't like to show the names of devices connected to wifi. I'm surprised everything else works as well as it does with the new app, given how old the router is. I'm always on the best channel compared to the rest of the neighborhood, and constantly beyond my ISP's advertised speeds. BEAST! NetGear Gateway is VERY easy to work with, and every last nook and cranny can be explored of any network within range, along with settings galore! Security is no issue with this router, along with a multitude of guest network options. 2.4/5G splits work as they should, no fuss assigning traffic on your own network. Plays nice with many devices/connections, no issues with running multiple VPNs. I believe I paid $180 for this originally; a bargain at $140.
