Many appreciate the improved range and signal strength, as well as the generally positive setup experience. While some find the device larger than expected, the overwhelmingly positive feedback points to a generally well-received product. A few users noted occasional connection issues, but these were infrequent.

Horrible experience, after 3 tries with 3 different modems we still couldn’t get a consistent Wi-Fi connection coming from this gateway router. I finally just exchanged it for the Motorola compatible one and it works great. Don’t buy this model. I refused to buy Netgear after this.

This didn’t last us a year. We actually are renting thru the cable provider because in our experience modems don’t last long.

Product itself works as it should, but when I had to call technical support the day after I purchased the product, they charged me $49.99 before they would even attempt to help me connect and when they couldn't figure out what the problem was, they didn't refund the $49.99 and let me with a "too bad, we don't know what is wrong" type of response. Not at all helpful. Would not recommend this product, or any Netgear product, for this reason.

Drops multiple times a day requiring restarts. When it's up, it is very fast and works fine for streaming 4K etc. But... so annoying to have to restart it regularly. Ridiculous.

I regret this purchase very much. Ever since installing this modem/router, our internet keeps disconnecting every few minutes. It’s annoying, especially now that we have to work from home. Maybe we got a defective unit. Haven’t been able to return it due to Coronavirus quarantine, I’m in the percentage at risk and can’t go to the store. Very disappointed.

I bought a new computer at my local Best Buy store. I told the sales guy that I wanted a new router and router to replace the crap Spectrum rents to me. So he sold me this one. When the Geek Squad came to install everything, he told me I could not use this because I have a land line with VOIP and I had to keep the Spectrum rental for that purpose. I suppose if I didn't still have a landline I could have used it. But, for now I have to keep renting from Spectrum.

I use to buy only Netgear. On this one I had issue on setup and even though is was purchase 2 days prior, Netgear was IMPOSSIBLE to deal with. After hours on the phone I ended up returning the item and purchasing another brand. It was plug & play and I was up and running in 20 minutes. No more Netgear for me. They only support their product for 90 days?!?!

Vast improvement over my old cable modem/router

Initially I planned to purchase a high end Asus router as I have used them at work and in the past and they have great -- but the other day Comcast upgraded my area to 100 meg service, and that caused my circa 2010 UBee modem to completely choke. Usually I shy away from integrated modem/routers, but I also had an aging Netgear N150 router in my home theatre by the cable modem -- the reviews on this unit looked good, so for about the price of the Asus AC-68 "router only" I was going for -- I was able to get both a decently spec'd router and a *high end* cable modem with 16 bonded channels (most are 4 or 8) -- which will future proof this thing for up to 600+ megs, should Comcast upgrade my speed over the next few years. Setup was a breeze -- Netgear has partnered with Comcast to where all their MAC addresses are in their database. You simply turn it on, connect over WiFi and a Comcast sign-in window appears -- you log in, and it automatically scans for the MAC address, and swaps your old with the new. Absolutely painless -- but they do get a slight ding here: This process set my modem up with the "old" speed of 50 megs and a very slow 1 meg upload... I had to call in to support, and they told me that they had to create a "billing slot" and that although the automated system activates the modem, it doesn't swap it onto my billing side, and that has to be manually done... That said, he said it'd be no problem to take care of this for me, and he did so... ...and WOW... I am blown away. Once this thing was provisioned, I now am enjoying 125/15 meg service consistently. I have never had a modem that actually delivers MORE than the cable company promises (100 megs in my case), and this thing is pulling down 125 consistently -- reading online, the 16 channel bonding basically ensures that there are clean channels that can be used and it can eek out every last bit of speed that your provider allows -- and I must admit, it's working quite well. One other plus: the lights on this unit are not obtrusive; it has all the usual status lights, but they are all small, uniform green, and are mostly steady with the occasional slow blink. Since the modem is near the home theatre this is a welcome change... my old UBee modem had garish blue and green lights that were large and blinked in all sorts of ways. So overall, I am quite impressed... it is a bit pricey -- but when comparing the cost of a high end AC1750 router and a 16 channel cable modem, it's about the same price, all in one package. I'm knocking a star off due to the automated system not provisioning my account correctly (so make sure and check your speed and call in if it seems too slow) The only next test will be longevity... hopefully I get years of service. That's the problem with all-in-one's: if the modem goes out first I'll have an extra large brick of a router, and if the router goes out first I'll have an extra large brick of a modem -- which will either mean buying the whole shebang again, or buying a modem and/or router when the time comes which defeats the purpose... But overall, I'd recommend it At the fees Comcast charges for a wireless gateway, it'll pay for itself in under 2 years -- and is fast enough that provided the longevity is there, shouldn't go obsolete for a good 5-8 years.
