Constant connection drops
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this modem/router for over six months. The wifi range is great but the actual connection is very poor. It is also constantly dropping connection on online games and other online applications. Would not recommend. I contact Netgear fora replacement and the one they sent out does the same thing, even more often. Not a defective product purchased originally, just bad quality over all. And they will not provide refunds.

Unreliable Wifi service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Frequent disconnect with Wifi. Test laptop will disconnect from Wifi but when plugged into Modem, connection works. This happens on multiple devices to confirm that the problem is with the Wifi function of this modem. Got a replacement from NetGear, after a few days, same problem. I bought this from reading all the stellar review and it having close to 5 stars. Not in my experience.

Better than Cable provided modem router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had trouble getting consistent wifi reception with any of the 6 Brighthouse provided modem routers in various spots in the house. Tired of the monthly rental fees for subpar service so I did a lot of research and decided on this one. It is on the approved Brighthouse list of modem routers. It was easy for me to connect all of the electronics with a push of a button. Now I'm getting consistent reception and no dropped wifi signals or resets necessary. Problem solved.

It works, but not well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you set it and forget it... and don't care about any admin settings this may work for you. However, this Netgear 6300 has a kludge way of setting access times for devices. Basically it is all or nothing. I had an Actiontec C1900A with CenturyStink and you could set access times individually per device using MAC addresses. You could turn off access to the kids devices at 8 pm and the wife's laptop at 11 pm. The Netgear 6300 has no such feature. Only a blanket setting for days of the week for ALL devices. Additionally the time on my modem is set incorrectly, and unlike the documentation claims, there is NO place to change the modems time, so even the blanket settings for access don't work correctly. I'm also getting many dropped connections for no good reason. Things will be working great for a while then nothing. Constant restarting, even a reset did nothing to fix this ailing device. Why all the positive reviews? I'm not sure. Most likely this will be going back to the store. For this price it should do what you want.

Has Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For some reason this does not allow a few of my devices to connect without waiting a very long time. YouTube, Netflix, Pandora and other sites have an awful time connecting. On these devices I need to go to mobile data to connect then switch to wifi once launched or just start the connection and wait a good 30 or more seconds before an icon shows up , for example on youtube one or two thumbnails show up and maybe 20 seconds later the next one shows up or not at all. same with the app store. Netgear could not resolve issue. The problem is with my Samsung note 5, Kindle HD 8, and Vizio TV. These are 3 entirely different devices. No one can resolve this so if you have these devices you may want to look elsewhere. For the devices I have that work it is terrific except I need to reboot atleast once a week or the connection gets pretty slow.

Great Modem, Router needs tweaking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1 ) Your firmware has to be updated thru your ISP, however TWC will not push the firmware upgrade to you because it is YOUR modem and not the one they provide! 2) The modem is giving me 35 to 38 mbps download speeds, which is higher than my 30 mpbs plan. The upload speeds are very inconsistent. 3) My Samsung Galaxy S5 has wifi upload issues (only with this unit), always sayings it's connected but it just spins and doesn't upload, never fully connects which makes it hard to stream anything or even watch videos or look at pics. The iphone 5s has no problems with the wifi. 4) Netgear sent me a replacement unit, and I am still having the same issues with the wifi. I have been going back and forth with Netgear and TWC trying to resolve this, constantly having to change the channel to get the wif to work properly. My 9 year D-Link router worked better than this router. 5) I have my modem/router properly placed and on the main floor and the only time the wifi works as it should is when you're in the same room, and that applies to both the 2.4Ghz and the 5.0Ghz. Overall, this purchase was a huge mistake, it's been 3 months and it is too late to get a refund. I would not recommend this unit if you are a TWC customer. Spend the $200 and get a separate modem and router. The combo unit is flawed and I feel the router will break before the modem and I will have to replace both because it is a combo unit.

Great/Not good for Zito Media
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product! Fast connection! The following connections were pushing the modem with zero issues; 3 each Laptop (college labs running) / 1 each Xbox one live running (COD/ZOMBIES no lag)/ 1 ea Netflix movie (no buffing) playing all at once. The only negative experience was a darn firm wire update that happened over night. The update made the modem not compatable to my ISP. So, I called "Netgear" customer service (horrible verbal communication) and the blaming game began between the ISP and Netgear. Thanks God for Best Buy customer service!!! Purchased the Arris AC1900 and that was horrible!!! It was acting like the rental equipment i got from zito, slow connections, everything was lagging tot he point it automatically re-started the modem. You can imagine the frustration! Currently trying out the Netgear Model C7000, no issues in the last 30 min of use. lol I hope my experience helps you chose a modem that will work for you! FYI.. pay with Credit Card, it was the only way Best Buy was able to help me. I would of been out of luck if i would have paid cash!
