    Meh....I've had better

Was pigeon-holed into this particular modem/router based on the specific needs of Time Warner Cable and a limited time table. This product is average at best, with the Wi-Fi being it's greatest weakness. Modem and router perform as expected for hardware at this price point, and frankly, it's hard to screw that up with today's tech. Biggest gripe is the Wi-Fi, as it has weak in building penetration at best, and reliability is close to nothing. Requires restart regularly to maintain service, despite firmware update and standard maintenance. If you're using it to route to a Linksys radio, go ahead...but if you're looking for whole house wireless from this thing, move along and spend a buck.

    Poor quality, avoid this product

I purchased the NetGear C6300 (May of 2016) to support new internet performance increases in my area and wanted gigabit connectivity for my hard-wired PC's. I was able to achieve 230Mbps on speedtest via direct-connect and wireless N speeds of around 130Mbps (system 40 feet away with N adapter). Setup was easy but the UI was very slow compared to the NetGear it was replacing. So far, so good. On day 2 it stopped working. NetGear (off-shore) support had me exchange it at Best Buy for another unit. Same performance and same slow setup but it worked for a while. Fast forward 5 months and it bricked. Reset would only flash the power button red. NetGear support finally concluded it needed replacement and charged me almost $30 for overnight shipment. Third unit arrived and setup was just as slow. This unit took an hour working with the cable provider to get it initialized for some reason. For the first night it worked fine. The next morning it would not allow for wireless access and it was constantly dropping connectivity to all websites. Resets nor reconfiguration would fix it. I worked with my internet provider to ensure they were having no problems and they could not get access to the modem on their side. Problem is the NetGear product again. I've never had issues in the past with hardware like I have with the C6300. Choice is to get a fourth one sent from NetGear and hope "fourth time is the charm" or just bite the bullet and purchase a different brand. I chose the later and will do a review once I've run it for a while (ASUS RT-AC3100 + ARRIS SB6190 modem). Initial results show similar LAN speeds but the same wireless-N system now tests upwards of 195Mbps which is a nice boost over the C6300.

I read a lot of the bad reviews and some of the good. I have to say it was a snap to setup and get started. I had Comcast which the monthly rental fees stacked up when looking at the two year contract. My signal is faster for wifi gaming through 4 walls and down stairs and playing on an Xbox one. So far I am happy and pleased with my purchase.

Works great wired...Wi-Fi not so much

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

For some unknown reason the Wi-Fi stops working on both bands... sometimes once a day, sometimes 3 times in an hour. The router shows the ssids being broadcast, but no device can see them. The only fix is a power cycle which takes 5-7 mins to complete. I've seen others with similar issues online and tried disabling our devices from using power saving mode on the Wi-Fi adapter, but nothing works. Too bad because otherwise the wired devices work great, speeds are good, little disappointed I can't update the firmware but I understand... overall the Wi-Fi issues are killing me and keeping me from being able to recommend this unit.

    No user-configurable QoS!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Overall I'm generally happy with the C6300 so far, but buyer beware - despite the fact that the packaging and product literature makes reference to "advanced QoS technology" or some such phrase, there is NO provision for any user-configurable QoS settings. I think this is very misleading.

    Do Not Buy

Do not buy this product. Intermittent WiFi and will not allow our Motorola Z to connect to the internet. Apple phones are a little better but we end up using unnecessary cellular data. Had no issues with our Motorola Surfboard. Customer support is a joke- all they care about is registering the product so that they can charge you for support when the warranty runs out and they are hard to understand. Both my Cellular phone and cable providers have been wonderful trying to help us resolve this issue but the problem is not on their end. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NETGEAR PRODUCT AGAIN.

Bought this to replace the router/modem that Time Warner provides (rents!). Great product that handles all of our network needs - TV home theater, 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, laptop, desktop computer, and 2 network printers with no problem.
