Great product, but difficult set-up

I just moved and got this modem/router combination product for my new place. I have Xfinity/Comcast and upon plugging in this product, I was faced with so many issues to get it set up. I am typically pretty good with technology, so by no means should this have been a difficult set-up. I called Xfinity several times to try to get it to work, but they told me to call Netgear, which has no applicable customer service that I could talk to immediately. Reading the manual provided by Netgear for this product, it says that if you encounter an issue, contact the internet service provider. This was all very roundabout and got me nowhere. I spent hours upon hours on the phone with my internet service provider. The only way that I got this modem/router to work and actually give me internet access was by contacting a friend who is a tech-guru.
Since then, I have had no issues with this as a router. The initial set-up was a nightmare though. I would recommend this product to others, but would also recommend that if you encounter any issues during set-up, have a friend handy who knows their way around technology.

Good product. Two built in wifi routers. Cannot change the given password or is screws up the network. Range is excellent. Once it's set up and going it works good.

I recently upgraded to this modem/router 2-1 device. At the time I was in the market for a new router, it was the only 2-1 that was reviewed well in generic consumer and critic reviews. It meets the needs of my multi-device home and with the multiple frequencies it provides (2.4 gHz and 5gHz) mobile devices won't hog all the resources. It stands vertical and is slightly smaller than a Nintendo wii, so it is very space economical. In addition since it is a viable modem/router combo, it is electrical outlet friendly by only taking one slot. Worth owning, and if you are a cable internet subscriber, it will at least pay for itself in about a year with "modem rental fees" alone.

Switched from DSL to cable, so had to buy a compatible router. Rather than paying the Cable company every month, I got a reliable one. I read the reviews and decided to get this. It hasn't given me any issues and is very reliable. I recommend.

Given you have a compatible ISP provider, setup was simple without the need of calling ISP customer service. Router user interface is complex enough to get what you want out of the device for a reliable connection and network. Unit is very compact and can be kept on work surface, in a closet, or even in drawer/cabinet and take up no more space than an ink-pens length and a the size of a toothpick in width. Not wall-mountable, although I have modified my unit to make wall-mounting possible.
Though it is not detailed in the manual nor anywhere on Netgear's site for this specific modem/router unit, THERE IS A RESET BUTTON on the unit located on the bottom between the two legs. To be clear, this is different from the power button which is located on the rear of the unit. The power button can not be held down for any period of time to reset the unit to factory settings. You will know its location by identifying a CIRCLE amongst the pattern of rectangles on the underside of the unit. You will need to use a pen or other fine-point object to access and press the button.

Best Router for the price. I am a Comcast user and I was using the rented router from Xfinity for more than 1.5 years and I chose to buy this. It's very simple to setup. I didn't configure anything. I just plugged the COAX cable from my old device to the new device. It just worked. Easy to setup the router settings as well. I am using the performance internet and this is working perfectly for the speed.

I bought this unit for me and my girlfriend's tiny apartment, where a traditional modem and a separate router would take up too much space (not to mention that the modem my girlfriend had is not compatible with our ISP). While our plan is 25Mbps down/5Mpbs up, it feels FAR faster with such decent equipment. While it lacks 802.11ac and a few fancier features, the unit wins hands down.
Now I only wish that the router manufacturers could build these with support for digital voice! Only reason I can use this is because I lack home phone....

Since I cut the cord with cable I only use an Antenna and Roku for watching TV. This helped me not have to buy two boxes. It works fine. I have a 972 sq. ft. house. It reaches from the living room back to the bedroom for the wireless printer.

We recently switched internet providers and needed a new router. This one is a fantastic choice and we had no problems with installation or getting everything up and running. Even with a large house and large demands we have had no issues

Router has decent range, good signal on first floor of my house. I still need a signal extender on the first floor to have 4 bars on the family room. Though the family is far from the location of the router.

This router works great for surfing the internet and streaming. Great value for the price. No need to spend $200+ for the top-tier products, this mid-tier modem is fast enough for all my streaming needs.

For the price, it's a very good buy which cuts the need to rent modem from your internet provider. Setup is really easy. Signal doesn't drop as much as it used to with Motorola modem&router I had before

PROS
Very fast download and upload speeds. Easy setup. Supported by major cable service providers. Excellent wireless throughput at 5GHz.
CONS
Expensive. Average 2.4GHz throughput. Little granular network control.
BOTTOM LINE
Netgear's C3700 Cable Modem Router is the only modem/router combo we've tested that makes adding a dedicated wireless router unnecessary for most users.

This will pay for itself in one year. My ISP charges a monthly rental to use their low quality modem. I finally bought my own and decided to get the one that included the router for wireless connections. So far the device seems to work well.
