I bought this router because I saw in a review on bestbuy.com that it worked with time warner. When I went I didn't reserve it online so I went browsing through the store and found it last one on the shelf so I grabbed that and a coaxial cable and went home took me a day to activate it because I was kind of a Wee Woo about it. I got it registered with time warner but like an idiot didn't activate it. After a lot of phone calls I thought let me call the number for activation for this router that it says on the computer. took me 2 minutes to set up after that

It is very easy to set up and use. I only gave it 4 stars because of the range. I wished it has a wider range.

Don't buy this garbage!

I usually don't write reviews even if the product is bad, but this time, for the sake of humanity, I have to...
First, I'm not a newbie. I consider myself to be very experienced with computers, I've been a programmer since 1998.
The last time I changed my router was 8 years ago. So I finally decided to go through this somewhat painful process (No internet for several hours, activating, setting up the security settings, firewall etc..). I chose NETGEAR N600 based on the reviews and because it's "all in one" simple solution. What a mistake it was :(
This modem/router kept me frustrated for weeks until I RETURNED IT. The issue was with the Wireless connection, it kept disconnecting all of my devices from the internet in steady intervals of 10 minutes apart. Every 10 minutes I had to Disable the wireless connection on my Mac/iPhone/iPad and enable it back again. Meanwhile the signal was always perfect no issues with that. But the internet connection kept disconnecting.
I've wasted several hours on the phone "support" with NETGEAR and Comcast. NETGEAR recommended me to change the wireless channel from 'auto' to '6' (go figure!), packet size, upgrading the firmware via Comcast and completely resetting the modem/router. Without any success!
Don't waste your money on this fancy packaged garbage.
Instead buy the following:
Zoom - DOCSIS 3.0 High-Speed Cable Modem ($64)
TP-LINK - TL-WR841N ($24)
Flush your router with the DD-WRT (google it) and you've got yourself a $700 router!
Cheers!

Out of the box setup was easy. From the beginning there was latency in connecting to the internet. Netgear customer support (I recommend using online chat because their techs have problems speaking English) instructed to me change the MTU setting in the modem-router. This improved the problem but did not fix it entirely. We have two desktop pcs connected to the modem-router via ethernet. About a week after my initial call to Netgear customer support, one pc would not connect to the internet upon bootup. It could "see" the modem-router but not the internet and was unable to go online. After wasting almost two hours chatting online to Netgear's customer support, I was incorrectly told the modem was working fine and the problem was my pc.After that call, I swapped ethernet connections on the modem and found the non-connection problem moved from one pc to the other. In other words, whatever pc was connected to port 1 worked fine while whatever pc was connected to port 2 would not go online. I then found that if the connector to port 2 was removed and then replugged, the pc connected to the internet and could go online. Obviously there was a problem with port 2. I called Netgear customer support again and it was another terrible experience. It took almost an hour to make the tech understand it was a port problem. The tech finally told me to ship the defective modem to Netgear for a replacement. That would leave me with no internet for a week or two which I find to be unacceptable. Instead, I'll be returning the modem to Best Buy under their Geek Squad protection program and hope to get a replacement that works. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. With all the positive reviews, I thought the Netgear C3700 was the best choice. I could not have been more wrong.

I literally bought this modem/router two days ago. I have Time Warner Cable and did not want to pay $9/month to lease modem/router plus $5 wifi fee. My internet since replacing is HORRIBLE. I feel like people on Best Buy are lying in their reviews. I should have looked a reviews else where because now since googling it other people are complaining about the same issues I'm facing right now; which include latency/lagging, a cap of 100mbs, and wifi drops. I constantly have to reset the router/modem to the point where its no longer making sense. I need my internet connect to be seamless and right now for the past two days its but everything but seamless. Please choose another router not this!!!!

Useless LAN Settings, Useless Support

I swore off buying Netgear years ago, but Time Warner Cable told me I needed a new modem and this was the only one on their compatibility list that was in-stock. I broke my "NO MORE NETGEAR" rule and 24 hours later, I already regret the decision.
First, Netgear support is absolutely useless. I called in once, it went through the voice prompts, rang twice, and hung up on me. Second call connected me to a foreign call center who didn't know the difference between Local Area Network and Wide Area Network. He put me on hold so he could consult his manual and then he hung up on me. I'm currently sitting on-hold for the 3rd call, 15 minutes in, and waiting.
Second, the device comes configured for 192.168.0.1 on the LAN side. There is also a Guest network which I have disabled. My home is already setup with 192.168.2.* (print server, backup server, desktops, laptops, etc etc etc). When I try and change the LAN settings on this Netgear, it tells me there is a LAN overlap with some other network on the router but it won't tell me which network it is. Google search tells me the Guest network is 192.168.2.* and that is where the overlap is. However, the Guest network is disabled. So there is no overlap. Also, there is no way to change the Guest network subnet. Which means I have to spend a few hours completely reconfiguring my entire home network in order to make this piece of junk work. Well the nearest Best Buy is 20 minutes away and I can do the math. 40 minutes to return this brick and get something else (that is NOT Netgear) or 3 hours reconfiguring my home. Which do you think I will choose???
Third, this device has been on the market for 2 years and there is not a single firmware update available. Netgear has put 0 effort into maintaining this product. This LAN subnet conflict is the perfect example of something that can be fixed with a firmware update, but they haven't updated ANYTHING. EVER. AT ALL. NOT ONE SINGLE FIX. If Netgear has abandoned this product line, you shouldn't buy it.
Oh, and I'm now 30 minutes into my 3rd Tech Support call. I've been escalated to a different department who knows what a LAN is, and now I've been disconnected... again...

it's been a week since I started using this modem/router.. I have time warner internet connection of 50mbps. after i started using this product, my wifi was very slow, it sometimes drops to < 1mbps..i called time warner to see if any problem at their end and then realized the closer I am to the router the better speed I get.. more than 15 feet from the router the speed drops to less than 1mbps and keeps on dropping..
this one going back to store.
