    Horrible Product

It worked great for 3 months, but recently the signal strength dropped dramatically. Use to get 25-30 mbps 25ft away, now I only get 3mbps. Did a distance test, i get 25mpbs sitting in front of the product, drops to 15mbps 8ft away... I would not recommend this product.. now I need to find a replacement until wont be buying a netgear product again. Bad investment.

Great product overall. Sometimes the wifi doesn't pick up very well but that may be due to the faulty wireless connection.

Don’t buy if you have comcast

This device is a cable modem + Router . I must say it works good as a modem but works very poor as a wifi router. I tested this device thoroughly with xfinity 75 MBPS connection. Speed over wired LAN is good and reaches upto 89 MBPS max. But speed over WIFI cannot even cross above 40 on 5GHz channel. Speed on 2.4 GHz is even poor. I followed up with netgear technical team, they suggested me some settings like changing wifi channel, changing MTU size but nothing helps. My verdict - DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE as this device fails to deliver the speed it promises. Here are my testing results : Over Wired LAN : IPV4 / IPV6 --> 89 MBPS Over WiFI (5GHZ ) : IPV4 - 15 MBPS IPV6 - 89 MPBS Over WIFI (2.4 GHz) : IPV4 - 5 MBPS IPV6 - 13 MPBS I am ready to accept this challenge. Anyone using this device on comcast or TWC, share your wifi speed test results. If you guys still don't beleive me, please check Netgear forums for number of complaints on this device. One of the worst in the market

This is one of the worst cable modem access points in the market especially for Comcast. It's keep dropping the connectivity and has the lack of manual upgrade. The latest upgrade is one of the worst ones and it's pushed by ISP which is Comcast. Netgear does not help at all and will keep send me back to the service provider. Lack of support and poor menus and functions. There are many threads and forums and people complaining about this modem. Terrible Product

    Posted .

The wireless signal consistently drops and shows you as connected to the internet, but you are not. My wife and i struggled for many months with Netgear support and our internet carrier with countless tech support tickets, and there is no resolution other than to 'restart' your modem, ridiculous! After reaching our whits end we reached out to Best Buy to do a exchange, but we were past our 45 day exchange/return window. The product is total junk, i have my original receipt, I wanted to exchange for the Motorola Surfboard which is more expensive, but totally worth the money, but Best Buy wouldn't let me. So now i'm stuck with this paper weight that needs constant hand holding. I'm within my 1yr Manufacture warranty with Netgear, but i'm outside the 'free' 90 day technical support/contact they give you. How do you return a pile of junk when you have to pay to talk to someone at Netgear? This is just all around terrible customer service from both Netgear and Best Buy. Stand behind the products you sell Best Buy, and make this right. Allow me to exchange for the better equipment on the money you've already collected from me.

    Not compatible with internet package

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this because it says it's compatible with Cox, it is compatible but with only one package I have the ultimate package which is 300mbps and everything on this box says it'll run 300+ but it's only compatable with the 150mbps service they offer. Little side note they should put on here. SO WARNING NOT COMPATABLE WITH 300MBPS SERVICE ONLY 150 IF YOU HAVE COX CABLE.

    Does not work with VPN

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was really impressed by this product initially however when I tried to use it with VPN it worked with IPSEC but not with PPTP (windows vpn). I checked the manually and it says it supports PPTP passthrough but when I called support they admitted that this functionality was in fact not working. In some future release it will be fixed... well maybe. I gave it a low rating because this days modem/router should be able to do parental controls (I use open DNS) and vpn.

    Works, but not really

In laws own this and they were asking me if I can help speed up there internet. It was recommended to them by a Best Buy sales/store rep. No one should be recommending this in my opinion. Wired connection works as should. Got 175 down on a 200 mbs plan. Problem starts with the WiFi. It is Probably fine as modem only but WiFi on this is terrible. Standing right next to it you can’t get above 25 mbs download. Better off buying a cheaper modem and separate WiFi router as you’ll have to end up getting another WiFi router if you want better speed. Will have to disable the WiFi setting on this and buy another router for them. My recommendations. Never buy combo modem and router and if you just have to then stay away from this one - unless you are ok with < 30 mbs download speeds.
