Total Junk..1/3 the range of my broken router

The quality control on this product is apparently pathetic. Once it was setup with a simple change of Broadcast ID and network key (which was easy I'll admit) I checked the thru put and range. My computer 6 feet away went from 5 bars full strength to 2 bars with this router. Needless to say the computer out in the shop 100 feet away didn't even see it. Speed of thru put seemed what it should be. I took it and a second one back then purchased a decent Asus router. Though at four times the cost. I guess you get what you pay for.

Weak product, great customer service so far.

Have had this for over a month. Had issues logging into the Netgear Genie for adjusting the internet settings. After that, had issues with internet speed especially in our bedroom which is 20 feet away. After lots of emails and two long phone calls (very courteous people both times), I am being sent the next level up modem/router. Great customer service so far, but just issues with a super weak signal in a one bedroom apartment (by the modem/router I can get 29mbps and I am only paying for 25, but in the bedroom, it drops to 6 and the lowest was 0.9. Will keep you posted on the next modem/router.

The unit's wifi router failed after one year.

The unit started to drop wifi connections after about 12 months. I can recycle the power and the wifi will work again but it would disconnect several hours later. When the disconnect was as often as every two to three hours, I disable the wifi router and connect a old spare router that I have laying around. The setup works again. It means the cable modem is still working but the router failed.

I purchased this device 5 weeks ago, on the same day I signed up for Comcast service. It took Comcast 4 weeks to bury a line from their box on the corner a whopping 50 feet to the house. That time frame put me out of the 14 day return period for Best Buy. I have used this thing for a week and while wired it rocks but I bought it for WiFi capability. Wired I get 177 to 180 Mbps consistently. Wireless is another story altogether. Sitting on the same shelf less than 2 feet away from the router, the first speed test I did got 7 Mbps. I did another speed test, this time on dslreports.com and FAILED both bufferbloat and speed with a whopping 1.7 Mbps. Now, I am out the $100 for the modem and will have to purchase another. Rest assured, it will not be a Netgear product nor will it be from Best Buy. Forget recommending to a friend, I wouldn't recommend it to an enemy.

    Do not purchase this product

I would never recommend this product to anyone. The router is very faulty and keeps restarting itself very frequently and it doesn't stop with that IT ALSO RESET's ITSELF TO FACTORY SETTINGS AUTOMATICALLY (happens at least once in every two days, So if you have configured the router good luck you have to go through all the hard work of configuring it back again). Poor Wifi speeds. I have a 50 Mbps Internet connection and this router gives 20 Mbps speed when using WIFI and 50 Mbps only when connected by a lan cable.

It worked great for 3 weeks, then it stopped sending out a wifi signal. I called NETGEAR and thier customer service was horrible, broken English and they kept telling me to restart the modem (like I already have not done that already?!) They then told me it is broken and to replace it. So I did and lo and behold not sending out a wifi signal. I had Comcast replace all the cables and they could do no more. NETGEAR have a faulty product. All these 5 star reviews baffles me. Just wait a few more days and it will stop broadcasting a wifi signal. For the record, I work in I.T and know my tech. This is a faulty model. Having to call NETGEAR again alone is worth me not getting anymore of thier products. BEWARE.

    Warranty ridiculous

My router buy 6 months, still under manufacturer warranty. Unfortunately, it can not connect to internet, I call Netgear technical support to fix the problem and they said my router has software issue so I have to pay $150 to fix it . For the hardware warranty is 1 years, software for 90 days.....dear sir or madam of Netgear, customers can not mess up the software router, it not like a computer so the way you deny to fix the manufacturer defects is ridiculous........don't ever buy any Netgear products again.

An unknown device hacked into this modem and was sending me to fake pages when I would access a vendor website and ask for billing info AND SSN. I discovered the unknown device on Netgear Genie but could not remove it. I called Netgear support and they wouldn't remove it without me purchasing a $139 a year protection plan. I didn't pay that much for the modem. STAY AWAY from Netgear.

Don't purchase this modem/router if you use Time Warner or Comcast. Go to the Netgear forums and read the multitude of problems you will be getting yourself into. My wifi drops continually, all day long. I can't even use this device as a router.

After 6 months, it stopped working with a solid red led light. I tried to contact customer service about a fix and they wouldn't do anything unless I paid for a service! I won't make this mistake again! Beware netgear products!

I've had this modem for about a 18 months, and the Wifi no long works. The modem reboots when I click on the ADVANCED tab in the modem's web server page. One of the ethernet ports also does not work (and may never have).
