I purchased this router after an identical router was hit by a power surge. I have 3 desktop computers, two wireless computers, two wireless printers, two iPhones, an iPad, a CaptionCall telephone and a DirecTV receiver all connected to this router (12 devices in total). Everything works quickly all the time.

My previous router was a Netgear N600. I worked great for about 6 months, then started having problems. The N600 needed to be reset about 2 times daily for lost connections. I have had the N900 now for about 2 months and have not had to reset it once. Very strong signal on all devices. It has been an outstanding router.

When my last router died my tech advisor recommended Netgate and I'm glad he did. I'm getting great reception throughout my apartment with no service interruptions.

I ordered this on sale at an excellent discount/great price for a dual band router (2.4 GHz and 5GHz). It was to replace a much older Netgear router that had a lower bandwidth and less range/too weak of a signal in some parts of the house. I read in other reviews that this Netgear router has good range, and it does. It provides a strong signal everywhere in the house. I also like the ease and range of configuration options available in the software interface (that you can use on your computer) provided with the router. I'm comfortable with tech, but setting up a router and connecting it to all the various wireless devices in one's home can sometimes be a bit of a pain. I found this router to be easy, and it's working great.

Smooth install with no problems. This router was recommended and was priced the same as other places, but is a bit higher than other similar routers available online. I stuck with this to be able to return/get support immediately at BB vs waiting on emails, shipping, etc. if need be. Dual band is great and helps with bandwidth distribution. Capability, speed, and dual band has helped with previous problems although I think there is still a pretty hard limitation due to TW service limitations. Overall satisfied with the product so far but make sure your ISP is delivering service truly capable of utilizing the features of this router.

    A+ router for multiple devices

Prior to purchasing the NETGEAR - N900 Dual Band Wireless-N Router, we had a 9+ year old Linksys wireless router. I think time and technology had taken it's toll on the old router. We chose the NETGEAR - N900 Dual Band Wireless-N Router based upon features and the Best Buy reviews. We wanted an up-to-date router than could handle the multiple devices we have connected to it. At the time of purchase, we had the following devices connected wirelessly to the internet: 2 iPhones, iPad, Kindle, two laptops, Amazon TV Stick, Blue-ray Player, two 'baby' cameras, and a printer. Set-up was super easy following the instructions included. Once set-up was complete, I was able to connect every back to our network using 2.4G or 5G (depending on the device). The newer items, like the iPhone and iPad, connected to the 5G signal. The older items connected to the 2.4G signal. The printer connected via a USB jack (since the printer was nearby). The best thing I like about the NETGEAR - N900 Dual Band Wireless-N Router is using the Netgear Genie APP for i-devices. I am able to monitor the network, see and share connections, and turn on/off a additional guest network. With a quick visual glance, I can also tell if our ISP (rhymes with Komcast) is down or not. The router has been installed for a month and we have had zero issues (related to our home network). So far, the NETGEAR - N900 Dual Band Wireless-N Router has been great and I expect it to continue to be great for many more years.

I've had this router up and running for about 1.5 months now, broadcasting wireless on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies. Everything has worked great with no need to power cycle the router or my SurfBoard cable modem as of yet. Everything I own connects wireless, total of maybe 7-15 devices at any given time across both frequencies. I haven't seen any drops or had any odd behavior, though I did take the time to use a wifi analyzer app and change the default channels on which the router broadcasts (for both 2.4 and 5 GHz). You'll be surprised what a difference that makes. I pair this router with a Linksys USB wireless adapter and I pull ~50mbps on speed tests (over wireless N). Before changing the defualt channels, I was only seeing ~15-20mbps. Huge difference, I recommend you give it a try! As far as the gigE ports, I haven't had much of a chance to test those, though my cable modem connects at 1 gbps to the router. I assume the ports work as advertised. All in all I'm very pleased with the purchase. I've always bought Linksys routers in the past and I'm happy I wasn't disappointed with the switch to Netgear.

Bought this to replace my tired old Netgear, which was failing badly. After installing the new N900, it was like night and day difference. Good signal strength all over the house, and outside. And good speed at 450+450 Mbps. Installation was a breeze: open a browser, answer a couple questions, done. Like that the pre-assigned password is an easy to remember pair of two words, and a 3-digit number; not just a string of random characters.

The Best Router Ever For Under $100!

I replaced a 45 day old Belkin AC750 that stopped working (I originally replaced a 7 year old Netgear router that was working fine, but became outmoded). Best Buy accepted the return no problem. I researched routers this time around, and bought the Netgear N900 and this router blows away the Belkin... faster, better "Genie" setup software, and two USB ports so connecting my two printers was a breeze. The Belkin was not allowing me to connect two printers "easily," and I could never get the HP 1102 to connect actually. Netgear offers a USB Control Center software tool to download, to help find and connect more than one printer, to more than one computer. Installation was just too easy, and the printers remained connected the next day and every time I turn them on. There was no mysterious loss of connection, like I experienced with the Belkin. I also use a wireless DVD player with Internet connection and streaming YouTube and Netflix is faster too. Both the Belkin and the Netgear produced a good 60 mbps connection using speedtest.net, but the family and I just felt that the Belkin connection speeds were slower... you know you can tell when it's slower! But this Netgear N900 is blazing fast - you just cannot imagine and we are so happy to finally be enjoying the blazing speeds we are paying for each month. The only "negative," but I won't deduct a star for this because it's too stupid to mention, but the size of the router is a whopping 10" x 6" -- kid you not! I read it was the size of a small laptop, and that user was right! But heck, apparently size does matter in this case, because this router rocks!!! Buy this router and you won't be sorry!

    Netgear – N900 Dual Band Wireless-N Router

I have been using this router for around one month now and have found not one thing to complain about. This router is a replacement for a previous older Netgear model that was prior to WPS being enacted (yes it was that old). It had served me well until recently when I had to reboot is many times a day for any Wi-Fi connected devices. As I said I have had this up and running for around a month and have not had to touch it other than via the Netgear Genie software to enable devices to connect to my network (I like my network to be secure). Initial setup was fairly straight forwards and did not take that long and I split my devices between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to even out the load. As far as the Wi-Fi signal goes I have found it to be fairly powerful. Despite some reviews stating that this router has a limited range I have found that not to be the case in my situation. My router is located near the front of my house and took my iPad to the rear of my backyard with the signal passing through 2 walls and about 80 to 90 feet and still achieved over 20Mbps which is the maximum download speed with my provider. I also like the Netgear Genie software as it allowed me to see and quickly change the channel I was broadcasting on as it conflicted with a neighbor. So, to sum things up this router is easy to setup, is reliable and has an excellent range and I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend.

The setup is pretty straight forward. I skipped the setup wizard and did a manual setup. After it was setup, it found a firmware update which I let run. The dual band works great with devices that can see the 5GHz band using that over the slower one. It's been reliable and has good range, reaching the floor above without a problem.

The Netgear N900 Dual Band Wireless-N Router (with 5 port Gigabit Ethernet Switch) proves to be a great performer with excellent range. This router had served me well for over a year before it had an unfortunate demise due to electrical problems in the house. Best Buy quickly covered me on the warranty though and replaced it with a new one. Same great features and performance and now it includes the Genie application making setup and configuration a breeze. There are two bands - one for a/b/g and the other for n. Both bands have a "guest" account - so it is really like having 4 separate hotspots, two for yourself and 2 to share with guests in your home/office that have no access to your internal network. Fast and reliable.

Replace a Linksys E3000 (with DD-WRT) because of connectivity issues with another router (as a bridge) and range issues. The user interface is easy to use (I used the web interface NOT the disk program) and have had no connectivity issue with all our network peripherals hooked up. I have 2 box 360's, 1 PS3, 2 iPads, 2 Macbooks, 2 iMacs, 3 Droid phones, 2 iPods, NAS server and various other home theatre equipment with no problems. I am using Time Warner Extreme Internet so that helps keep a fast connection with all our stuff. The range is great considering we live in a two story house. No issues on range with getting the signal upstairs on the other side of the house with the router on the first floor on the other end of the house. The previous router had dead spots. The internal antenna strength so far is solid. Matter in fact my son gets the signal on his iPod 2 houses down at the bus stop. The second router we have is a bridge (Linksys) and it connects great with this Netgear router. Have not used the parental controls yet. The price is the only think I can think of the complain about. This is only because I cannot think of anything else that I could find wrong with it. It is not much cheaper than the new AC band but nothing in our house was that format so I could not see spending $20.00 more for that format. Otherwise very good router with good range and speed even in a larger house.

Strong signal, easy to hookup. 5G is twice as fast. I get 100mps at times on my iPhone 6. My iPhone sometimes drops to slower frequency signal and I have to reset phone to faster frequency. Don't know if it's the router or the phone that causes that. Otherwise this gear is great!
