Oustanding, reliable performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the N900 along with a new modem for my home after growing tired of renting a slow combo unit from my ISP. My phone was faster on LTE than my supposed 50mbps service, that tested less than 7 in various speed tests. I had purchased this same router for a friend and knew the range was more than what I needed, so purchasing one for my home was a no brainer. Set-up is incredibly easy (even changing your network name/password etc is a breeze) and everything about this router is great. I consistently test 40mbps+ and stream Netflix on my iPad in my backyard no problem. There's two of us in my home with a total of 8 devices (never simultaneously connected) on the network and speed/connectivity is never an issue. We mainly stream movies/music and browse the web but downloads and file transfers are blazingly fast as well. This unit is also used in a home that is about 1300 sq/ft, for those that care. I'd highly recommend this unit for those with a handful of legacy devices or anyone that wants a reliable, is key.strong connection where range

Great product!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 4 year old Lynksys router died. Replaced it with a high end Lynksys and the range was very disappointing. Our house is not huge - but it's made of cinder block which I know is not signal friendly. I use a repeater, but the high end Lynksys barely registered. The Netgear N900's signal is powerful and I have almost no dead spots without using the repeater. With the repeater signal is awesome! Easy to install and connect to all my peripherals. I'm a happy techno camper!

Great fast router, simple, lots of features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router to replace an E1000 (Linksys).. The E1000 had horrible performance. Prior to the E1000 I had several other wireless routers, Linksys WRT54G for example. The E1000 was my first foray into N-band. I've always been a Linksys customer, am a Cisco customer at work... and Netgear never struck me as a contender. I read the review of the WNDR4500 in Maximum PC magazine, and was impressed with what I read. Basically it was the fastest wireless router they'd ever tested. Several issues later the router was still the fastest by far, and still a best pick. The new Linksys reviews came out and didn't hold a candle to this router... so I went to Best Buy and decided to take the plunge. Setup was simple, and in about 15 minutes I was online and had all my pc's and devices connecting. I immediately saw a speed increase on everything from my phones, to my playstation, wii, xbox and computers. The kids were watching Netflix faster too. Then we had some cable issues, and I had to teboot the router a few times. Someone else posted they had an issue here.... with external DNS problems causing the router to fail. Well... in the past with Linksys, the few and far between firmware updates might address something like that. But the only way to know would be to go into the gui, get your current version, then go to the support site, check that version (and your hardware version) download the code if appropriate, and flash it manually. Netgear released a fix for this very issue. Not only did they resolve the issue, but when I logged into the admin GUI, there on the screen was a flashing/highlighted "THERE IS A FIRMWARE UPGRADE AVAILABLE" banner. I clicked the banner, and it basically installed the upgrade right through the GUI. No issues with DNS since! The router is solid as a rock, performance is FAST... and I am VERY happy. I particularly like the screen for connected devices, where I can easily see every device connected, it's MAC and IP, and common name. This is a GREAT router. You really can NOT go wrong with buying it! I will never buy Linksys again. My dad has a WRT400N router from Linksys, and like everyone else who owns one, has a 5Ghz radio on it that won't work. I am recommending he replace the Linksys with Netgear. Of course he's reluctant b/c I used Linksys for so many years, and he is used to them... but he sees our performance too, and is now going to make the switch. GREAT JOB NETGEAR!!!!!

Great router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great router - highly recommended. Used to exclusively use Linksys but my old Linksys didn't work well with our idevices. Also half the time you try to update a Linksys router, the firmware update fails and the router is never the same. This router was easy to setup. Only one hitch. We have a TWC cable modem with VOIP for digital phone. The cable modem has a battery backup and no apparent way to reboot. We had to reboot the modem to get the router to work with it. After figuring this out, everything worked well. We get solid Wifi connections, great gigabit ports. We actually have 8 devices connected to the ports through two switches and have no problems. The web UI works well and the firmware update was quick, effortless and it worked! Recommended without reservation

Product did not work.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I arranged for the Geek Squad to install the router. This one did not work and I had to buy a more expensive one (Apple AirPort) that the technician had on the truck or wait and schedule another appointment. I purchased the AirPort.

DD-WRT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this based on reviews (at BestBuy, but didn't use my rewards card when purchased# and after a few months, the firmware would become corrupt. Re-Flashing would fix the issue for about a month, then back to square one. DD-WRT has the router in the database, but it is listed as WIP 'work in progress'. However, the forum has a member who has created 5 beta's and one stable version #which I am using#. So far the router has not crapped out and the range is incredible. Performance since the upgrade has been significantly better than with the OEM firmware and so far has not resulted in the green flashing power light. Parenthesis in this review are showing up as a Octothorpe ### for some reason.

Product was great when it worked.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really liked the router but the one I had was obviously defective since I had to reboot it several times a day. I took it back and purchased a different unit which works great.

Amazing Wifi speeds!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bumped up my comcast internet speeds to 100mb , and the router i had couldnt give me more than 18mb over wifi, so then i went to bestbuy and bought a $79 dollar netgear (no luck) then a $79 Linksys (no luck) i about given up on being able to get my higher speeds over wifi, UNTIL i explained my situation to one of the sales reps and he explained to me i needed a higher end wireless router. I didnt want to spend $150 on a router, but i am so glad i did !! ive gotten as high as 97MB over my wifi connection and my wireless printer works with NO advanced setup or hassles! (unlike linksys) This router hasOther features i will probably never use, my main concern was a router than can handle my 100mb download speeds. and this router does it with No hassles at all ! plus the range is even better than all the other routers i have tried. I knew this was a serious router when i saw the power cord on this thing!!

Awesome, awesome, awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a superb router. 1st connected it to my FIOS router which had the exact same IP address. Thought I was going to have to disconnect It From FIos router and connect direct to pc. To my surprise the router automatically changed and alerted me it changed the IP address to 10.0.0.1 and switched router to gateway since the FIOS router was DHCP cop. That was too cool. Router is also preconfigured with Wireless ID and password which is on router label. Another cool feature is the iOS print server. It automatically listed all my printers, checked the boxes of printers I wanted, hit apply... Open iPhone went to a photo, hit print and their was my printer. Connecting my NAS, receiver, XBMC, laptops, printers, iPads, iPhones were all automatic. Set most to static IP addresses, again super easy. The Genie configuration software is superb. Linksys charges 30.00 for their junky software. Wired NAS is lightning fast thru this router and that's without jumbo frames. 5ghz range is phenomenal. 2.4 is great also but the 5 is just better. Their a tons of other features I didn't even begin to talk about. This is an awesome router with tons of features and just plain works.

Great Router!!!!!!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far this router has been extremely reliable. I and my two sons game wirelessly on our ps3’s simultaneously without any issues. This router is located on the first floor near the modem where I’m at and my sons rooms are on the other side of the house upstairs. The range is great. Easy setup, seamless integration into our home network. It detected our iTunes servers and set up easily with all of our other devices.
