Much greater range than two competitors unit i tried. Easy to setup and lots of extra features. Not using any streaming video with this unit yet. Works with iPhones, iPads, windows laptops and two windows PCs. Lots of other wifi units within 200 feet and it works with no problems.

Got this when it first came out. I have had several routers and this is by far the best one. Easy setup, great range, and excellent speed. Many times we have 3 iPads, 2 iPhones, and a wireless desktop all connected and streaming at the same time with no slowdown or loss of range. In addition we maybe using Skype too.

this is one of the best home router/firewall/wireless devices out there. Firmware is solid and I didn't find any bugs at all. It took 20 minutes to setup with lots of custom settings. Works just as advertised and super easy to configure. Very fast speeds. Great Netgear website where you will find all of your answers re custom features. I was a Cisco/Linksys fan for years, but not anymore. Netgear is producing Best In Class products and I'm very happy with this product.

    Poor connectivity

Setup was a breeze. Literally plug it in and use the pre-supplied password and there's nothing else you have to configure to start using your wireless network. Unfortunately, the wireless performance is poor, and that is being generous. I bought the Netgear N900 to replace my Buffalo router N300 that had just died. To make it clear, my internet connection and wireless router are upstairs.I mostly use wireless devices downstairs. My TV is downstairs. I had almost zero connectivity issues over three years watching Netflix with the Buffalo router. But the TV won't connect to the Netgear N900 at all due to low signal strength. That's right, it cannot connect to the network, whereas before I was watching movies. I also have a Kindle that was happy with the Buffalo router. By contrast, the Kindle the has one bar when connected to the Netgear . I downloaded a WiFi analyzer app and signal strength hovered around a disappointing -91dBm. Even worse, I can see the neighbor's WiFi one house over, and that signal is at -93dBm. What a disappointment! This router is barely better than glomming onto the neighbor's router. I had to stand at the base of the stairs about 25 feet away to get any decent signal. So that is what I mean by disappointing performance. The only semi-bright spot is that my iPad gets stronger reception on the 5GHz band. But it suffers a lot of dropped network connections. If there are no walls between your router and the device you want to use, this might be ok. Otherwise prepare to buy an antenna or a signal booster in addition.

I had a linksys/cisco e4200 before. It had the flashing light syndrome and would just lose connectivity for about 45 seconds and then come back on line. It was under warranty so I purchased this Netgear. It was easy to set up. Linked right up with my Cable modem. Coverage is good within the house and have been up for days without incident. Web interface is easy to navigate with helpful instructions. All in all, a great router.

I have 6 PCs, 2 iPhones, 1 iPad, 3 iPod Touches, 3 PS3s and a Wii all connected to this router. At any given time I might have Hulu, Netflix, online games such as WoW, and SWTOR going at the same time. No hiccups whatsoever. I am very pleased with this router. It has been up and running for about 6 weeks now and no problems so far.

This was one of two wireless routers tested and recommended by my cable provider. We get a good signal on both levels of the house and haven't needed to reboot it in the two months we've been using it. This is the first router I've purchased (had Uverse previously) so I don't know if this is a common feature, but I liked how easy the included software makes it to set up a guest network for when my in-laws visit.

This router is great for those who watch movies online or do alot of online gaming. For example, my one son will be playing Diablo III while my other son is playing on his computer across from him COD. Both have said this is an improvement over the other router we had in the past and I can even share WiFi with my downstairs neighbor and not have any signal loss. Currently using Fairpoint 7mb DSL, can't imagine what it would be like with a cable broadband usage. Great price and worth the investment for those using it for entertainment or gaming experiences.

The installation and set up couldn't be easier. It pretty much sets itself up for you. We've got many wireless devices linked to it (printer, PCs, iPads, iPhones, Apple TV, Roku, etc.). We had no troubles connecting our devices. The signal of the router is powerful, strong in areas of our home where our previous router could not reach. The dual band signal works wonderfully with our Apple TV - no more annoying starts and stops while watching online videos on our TV. Our old Roku is not able to see the 5 GB network, so it uses the more crowded 2.5 band. We plugged a 32 GB thumbdrive into the router's USB port and had no trouble making it accessible to our devices for easy file sharing. The router is a perfect solution for our needs.

I am a novice network guy and was a little concerned about setting it up. And when I saw how small the installation manual was, I was quite nervous. But, it truly was "plug and play". I am even using my it for my iPhone. It is much faster and has more coverage than my old Linksys unit. This is my first time using any NetGear product and I am very very pleased with it.

I had to buy serveral routers before i got it right. I had 2 Belkins before i wise up. acttually, i bought serveral Netgears to get the right mix, i got a 600 and 750, both worked great, but i wanted more power, the 900N was an easy set-up, fast, no drops, and and a very powerful router

Been using this router for a several months now with absolutely zero dropped connections. It has a strong signal throughout our 2500 sqft house and enough speed for my wife and I to stream Netflix without problems. Decided against the newer AC routers as none of our devices would reap any benefit at this point (and they cost quite a bit more).

I was trying to find the best router on the market for my home and I think I found it. Very fast wireless speeds and extremely easy set up and monitoring tools. I would suggest this solution for homes and businesses both. Its a little pricey but after I hooked it all up it was well worth the money.

Best Router Available but too many issues

I bought this router 5 days ago. Up and running in minutes. It was easy to get all of my devices connected. It was not until a couple of days of using this router that the problems started becoming very noticeable. This router has been continuously dropping the internet connection. There is a firmware update coming sometime in the future that hopefully will fix the issue - I am using the latest firmware that is pubically available (version 70). For now, I am having a dozen or more dropped internet connections daily, requiring resetting of the router which takes about 2 minutes every time. It really is annoying when trying to download any large files from the internet such as movies from itunes and having to restart the download multiple times until your are successful of getting the file downloaded between internet dropped connections. My netgear router that is 5 years old never had problems like this. The following WNDR4500 forum on Netgear's own website shows the frustration that users are experiencing with this same issue. http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=72198

This is a great product and I have been using it for about one year and a half now. Has given no problem and have never had to unplug or reset for any reason. Installation was pretty annoying so I just decided to Plug n Use and had no problems. Worked my way up to configuring it over time. Finally has a great range, it covers my whole house and then some.

    Amazing Router

I have had this router and the WAN port just recently died, so I think this review can be considered extensive since I used the router until it was not functional anymore. Okay so this was my first Netgear router and I got it for the QoS feature, which was kind of a new feature then. This router was the most stable router I have ever owned. Keep in mind that I have Comcast 50 Mbps package. I NEVER had to troubleshoot the router or power cycle it, with the exception of when my Comcast service goes down in the middle of the night for maintenance. This router also has amazing range reach the total opposite corner in my house. I have my router in the corner of my basement, yes I know that is not the best spot for it but it is what it is. Anyways, I am able to get full bars on all my devices two stories up in my bedroom which is also on the other side of the house. Also the 5GHz band can also reach my bedroom, for some reason all my past duel band router could not reach nearly as far. This router not only is an amazing performer, it is also stylish, personal opinion. I like the clear base and the way it stands up. Long story short, this router is definitely worth the money.

Easy Installation & Good Wireless Range

I bought this product since my old router began to need bouncing every other day. The installation was quite easy, and its wireless capability (especially 2.4GHz network) can be used in the other corner of our apartment, which was not possible with our older router. The 5GHz band doesn't have such range, but it is superfast, which I like.
