This rounter was easy to install and so far we've had no trouble whatsoever! The Netgear router we had before was horrible. But this Netgear router is wonderful!!! It's more higher powered and does the trick!

Some people may not have a hard time with set up, but in my case, it was not just follow what appears to be easy directions...I had to contact assistance multiple times and I finally got lucky (on the 3rd time), I got someone that was fluent English, easier to understand, knowledgeable AND knew how to navigate Windows 8. After 2 hours on the phone AND after she actually had to gain remote access, it is finally working. Works great and not a single problem since. Range is great throughout the house...approximate furthest distance from router is 50 feet to basement bedroom.

    Excellent Router

This is an excellent router. It was very easy to set up, and the Netgear app is nice as well (free). There have been a few times I've had to reset the router, and since I am extremely lazy, I did it right from the app. Dual USB inputs are nice, as you can back up your files wirelessly to each drive for redundancy. I wish they were USB 3.0 though. My only complaint is that they are USB 2.0, and not 3.0.

So far so good. I've added several wireless products in my house and my old router kept kicking me off the network. I wanted a more powerful router that can handle more traffic. Would have given it 5 starts but I've only had the new router about 2 weeks.....so far it works well. Easy to setup.

    Best router ever bought

I usually don't write reviews but I had to one this one. I own a two story house and the previous netgear wireless router was not cutting it. I was eyeing the N750 but never made the purchase. I bought this one because of the gigabit wired, I am a online gamer, and the extended wireless range. I have not had to reset this thing once. My wife and I love this thing for everything that it is. No more having to reset the router because of a lack of signal.

Decent Router, 5g a little sketchy

The Good: Netgear did a lot of things right with the firmware: Relatively easy to navigate, easy to set up but very customizable for a home network environment, and firmware is easy to update. Additionally, The 2.4ghz wireless N has a great range and is very reliable. Extras: The built-in USB port is great for hooking up a Hard Drive or Flash drive, but don't expect quick wireless transfer speeds (more an issue with WiFi in general than this device). I have plugged in multiple brands and the router reads all of them. The router comes with software to allow you to access the files externally however, I've never set it up as I have other means. The Bad: 5G: For as nice as the 2.4ghz Wireless N network is, the 5ghz Wireless N network is equally as bad. Router has to be rebooted daily for devices connected to 5G to function normally; if not, the network speeds drop so significantly that the internet is unusable. This happens on every device, even one with the USB Wifi adapter counterpart to this model, the WNDA4100 N900. This didn't start right away but started happening more and more often about 3 months into ownership. Additionally, the signal strength of the 5G has always been terrible at best; when less than 10ft away with no interference (nothing in the way, no other 5ghz devices) the 5G fluctuates between 3-4 bars (out of 5) in strength and because of this, has slower speeds than the regular 2.4ghz making it completely worthless. Firmware Updates: While I like the layout of the firmware and it's overall usability, there hasn't been a firmware update in over a year which would be my only hope to fix the issue with 5g. Other Notes: I received this router for free during a company event and as such wasn't able to return it. It is still a vast improvement over the draft-N router I had previously but still lacks the quality and reliability I look for in a router. *On a positive note, it does look like DD-WRT is available for this router so I may give that a try to see if it fixes my 5g issues. TLDR: For basic home use this router gets the job done easy to work with; as long as you don't want to use 5g.

Netgear has certainly worked hard on making the setup and installation process easier. I like the software and the one minor glitch I ran into was easily solved by the wizard. I also like the preset security settings. This was literally a 10 minute process. Gotta love that. The speed is good. My only complaint is that wireless range still doesn't quite reach my upper level from the basement. Admittedly, this is a long way but it would have been nice to be able to ditch my AP. So far, I'm impressed with the product.

Hard time for Setup but works Good Now

I bought this back in November and for the first 2 months I literally had to reboot the router every morning after there was no use of the internet from overnight. I spent hours upon hours reading about the issue until finally I came across someone reporting the issue and saying that when they changed the firmware it was fixed. I ended up reverting the firmware to an older version than the one that was pre-loaded and it fixed everything like magic. Havent had an issue with it now for the last 3 months. Works awsome and has increased my internet speeds to laptop wireless from about 8-10 megs to 12-14 megs.

Pricey router but good so far

I picked this up from Best Buy a few days ago because I got sick of my Cisco Linksys WRT310N V2 losing bandwidth speed everyday forcing a reboot. So far, I am liking this device. I have connected a USB HD and mapped a drive to it but have yet to test it out fully. The router's genie software it uses is about par with other routers I've had. The only thing that I have to say that is a minus was that I couldn't get out to the internet at first unless I used a static IP on my devices with a manual DNS entry using 8.8.8.8. The router's DHCP just couldn't connect to any DNS with the default IP of the router. The other routers I've owned never had this issue. The quick fix I found was to go into the router and manually enter the DNS IP which I mentioned (any DNS really) replacing the default router's IP. After that, DHCP clients connect fine. This was recommended to me by one of BB's employees. He said he is a professional gamer on the side and has been using this router for a while and has yet to have to reboot it. He said he uses the same ISP that I do and it works great with them. Some routers just don't seem to work well with certain ISP's he stated. So far, it's been stable. Little pricey but hopefully it'll be around for a long time.

Took 10 minutes to set up great user interface and app. Also suggest 5Ghz band for my Blu-ray player. The app for my iPhone is great it allows me to see what my network is doing from anywhere and did I say easy setup. I purchased Apple airport extreme and the express would only connect to my iPad but could see all my other devices after a week of trying I returned to Best Buy and purchased the Netgear N900. I highly suggest this and will purchase the Netgear Universal Wi-Fi Wireles-N Dual band USB adapter to connect my Denon AVR-1912 receiver that requires an Ethernet adapter. Will update when installed.

We bought this after the installation of our cable modem to handle our iPhones (2), an iPad (1), a Wii, and a laptop computer. Up to this point the router seems to work great for our use... We have a 2 story home and the router is located in the basement behind a LCD TV and all of our wireless devices still have a great signal upstairs and outside! I have not taken the time to do so yet, but I believe we will be able to have our printer connectedd directly to the router so that we can print from our wireless devices? We'll see? At this point though we are completely satisfied with our purchase.

I bought this router after the brains in my Linksys E3000 got scrambled by a lightning strike near my home. And before the Linksys, I owned a Netgear router and loved it. It lasted approximately a decade. The N900 is simple to install, user friendly, and has a wide array of configuration parameters & features. It performs extremely well with my wired and wireless endpoints (laptops, desktop PCs, wireless printer, home server, etc.). Although I don't have highly technical benchmark results, I see speed & performance improvements over my previous router. The only area I don't see a noticable difference is the wireless range. But considering my large 2-story home, I still get the coverage I need from the N900. The only aspects I am not so impressed with is the footprint & price. The router stands a little over 10" tall and 7" deep, with no ability to wall mount it. Also, the router is a bit pricey. Other than that, this product performs extremely well as a residential or home-office router and even supports bridging (if you want added coverage). I don't see myself going back to a Cisco/Linksys product anytime soon - if ever. I'm very happy with my Netgear N900.

I had Problems with the Guest Account, kept dropping off, with my other Router Cisco. This one is so much faster and the Guest Account works like it is supposed too. I am running Gigabyte speed and I have a USB hard drive hooked up to my Router. I get my files and programs from that hard drive. Wow I love the Gigabyte speed.

This router was exactly what I was hoping for with a premium router. I've been using the AT&T wireless gateway since my previous router died. I've had so many problems that it's been kept as 100% default since it won't keep settings; but I digress. The Netgear has been up an running for only a few hours, but I'm seeing great performance on all of my devices. The only thing left to make sure of is that it keeps working over time. Great product so far.

Great for a large house to enhance the signal

I have a large house and there were a few areas that the signal strength was very poor, now every room in the house and the deck is covered and works well. I looked at the N600 but decided that since we have laptops, I-pads and phones we definitely needed the extra signal. No problem with any of the devices now.

I wanted a router that supported both 2.4 GB and 5GB at the same time. My old router supported both but only one or the other at any time. The N900 came up right away, no problem and both bands worked at the same time. I tested both and printed a test file on my wireless printer. No problem. Next day I needed to print something. I turned the printer on but I couldn't print. Turned the printer off and on a couple of times and still it still wouldn't print. I disconnected the N900 and re-connected my old router. I was then able to print. Next day I re-connected N900. Printed with no trouble. Then shut off printer and turned it on. Didn't work. Contacted Netgear support via chat. It said I'd be connected in 11 minutes. A few minutes later it predicted 30 seconds, then jumped back to 9 minutes. When I got connected, the agent said the problem had never been seen before and had no solution. I went back to my old router and returned the N900 to BestBuy.

I went to the Best Buy in South Beach to pick up this router. Since adding phone service to my xfinity acct my old router,a Belkin n+150, the phone being in use will drop my wifi signal so I was looking at another Belkin but passed.Didn't want to go to Linksys because of past customer support and service issues so I looked and researched Netgear. I talked to them and explained my situation and as I figured they said I would definitely need a DualBand router. And I chose the n900. Let me tell you when I went to pick it up ,K(i DIDN'T get his full name)was real helpful and honest as well as everybody there because I'm a regular)and even he said this is the best on the market now.As for me,the router is gorgeous but the performance is better on download and upload speeds.Setup for me was less than 10 minutes. I also chose it specifically because not only it's compatible w/Windows but Linux too.My first Netgear router and no issues so far. I will let you know in a week.Thank you to the guys and gals at Best Buy on Miami Beach.

Upgraded to this router when my old router stopped working. Unlike my previous router, I have had no drop issues. Furthermore, the range is excellent. I have good coverage through out the house. It also allows me to add on a harddrive, making it into a network drive. Adding a printer makes it available to all of my devices including iPads. My printer did not have this capability before.
