Keeps us connected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this and had it Geek Squad installed which went very well. We have a two level, 4000sf home and wanted good coverage through out. It seems to work well with laptops but not as strongly with my smartphone. This could be due to wrong settings on my phone, not really sure. Our computers all work well and fast with this router. Consider it a good buy for the money.

GREAT RANGE, GREAT SPEED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had another brand of router that would always get hung up when watching netflix. With this NETGEAR the whole family can use it. We can stream 2 HD TV, 2 laptops, ipods, and 1 ipod. Simply amazing speed which makes dad happy. -dad

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this Wireless N router for a while now and can confirm it's quality in range and operation, and durability. The Best router I have owned and very easy to reset if needed, do to power outage or loss of providers connection. As well... it is very easy on the eyes, and space saving. I have 2 computers and the cell phone working at the same time without loss of speed or drop out.

DISGUSTED!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router to replace an older cheaper unit because I wanted more speed and range. Setup was easy, but then the problems began. The first thing I noticed was that the range was actually less than on my old router. When I took my laptop to the kitchen (about 35 feet away) the signal was so weak that it was almost unusable. My older cheaper router worked perfectly for this. Then I tried to connect my 2 almost new Samsung Smart TV's. They would not connect at all. Again, the older cheaper router had no problem. After an hour of trying to figure it out myself I called Netgear. I spent over an hour on the phone with a tech who had me try a number of things with no success. He finally told me that in order to help me further I would have to buy a service plan for $200. WHAT!!!??? I disconnected the thing, reconnected my old unit and took it back to Best Buy for a refund. This was my first and last experience with Netgear!

This is a sweet router.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter has Playstation, we have 5 computers (4 Wi-Fi connected), use wi-fi for our smart phones, use Netflix, Wi-Fi Printer, etc. My last Netgear router was a 2006 version and it still worked after 6 years of continuous use (just needed rebooted several times a week, printer would drop off). But I had to use a low security setting with the old router, WPA-PSK (TKIP), in order for some of my computers to connect. With this N900 I was able to set the new router on the best security setting WPA2-PSK(AES). Thought for sure our old 2006 Windows XP Media Center edition computer would not work with the best security setting, but it does and the Wi-Fi signal strength went from weak with the old router to excellent with the N900. Netgear Rocks.

Wnd4500 needs Daily Reboot - Add it to the List!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The netgear router was easy to setup. I had it connected within 20 minutes for both wired and wireless networks. When connected it works fine. The range is very disappointing. Not much better than my old 2008 netgear FVS318v3. The main problem with this router is not it will not stay connected to the internet after a period of inactivity! Every day I have to re-boot the router. This has been happening for the last 5 days. I have the latest firmware 1.0.0.7 but still having the issue. If you research the issue, you will see this is a common problem. Netgear Tech support has been useless. On the phone over 45 minutes. The only thing they told me was to return it! Buyer be warned!

Effortless installation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The instructions accompanying the product were quite brief for complex product, but installation was almost effortless. I added the range extender for good measure, and installation took only a minute or two.

When it works its great.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it's working it has great speed even with up to 8 devices connected. Nice phone and PC app. Documentation for advanced setup is pretty much useless or non existent. Setting up many features are by trial and error. My biggest issue, it has to be rebooted sometimes as much as 3 times a day to get internet back. To much hassle. Will be scrapping this unit for something more reliable.

Not very plug-n-play;many conflicts & poor support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not a novice when it comes to computers and electronics. I've learned a lot by trial and error over the years. I upgraded from a perfectly fine working Linksys wireless G router to an N router since I now have many more wireless electronics in my house. First, I bought a Belkin, which was not very fast. In addition, the combination of the Belkin and my BlackBerry software caused another program's update to freeze my computer, so one of them had to go. I bought this top of the line Netgear. In the past 48 hours, I have spent about 24 of them trying to stay connected. Well, I am connected, but my computers and electronics still don't seem to want to work. First, everything was fine, and then I did the "push to connect" with my BlackBerry and everything stopped working (except the BlackBerry connection). The following morning, I spoke with Netgear, and the rep had me change many settings on the router (with it hardwired). Things seemed fine, I left for a few hours, came back, and couldn't get connected again. (Oh - and in the meantime, my BluRay is also "connected" to the internet, but can't find the server...). I called Netgear again. The woman wanted to assign a NEW case number (even though I had just spoken with someone about the same issues earlier that day). She wanted me to do the same steps - which infuriated me. I asked to speak with a supervisor. She transferred me to a level 2 tech rep, who said that he couldn't help me unless I paid for it. He transferred me back to a level one rep, who I couldn't hear, disconnected me, and didn't call me back. Still couldn't reach a supervisor or someone who could help. I tried calling the Netgear corporate office. I GOT VOICEMAIL (during business hours)! I left a message almost 24 hours ago and no return call. Unbelievably HORRIBLE service and terrible first impression for a company selling an expensive piece of equipment that I can't get to work properly - or reach someone to help me. I am likely going back to Linksys. It's too bad because I think this router could offer more, but if I can't get it to work, then it's useless.

Good Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this router about 7 weeks ago to replace an aging DSL Modem/Router. I live in a 3500 sq. ft house, and this router performs well from end-to-end. I would recommend if you need good range and aren't worried about paying a bit more up front.

Great in 2000sqft home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We own a duplex and us this for both sides. We have about13 total items that are used with this item. 3 iPhones, 4 game systems and 6 computers. Two of the computer are used with on line gaming. Work flawless !!! Put one pc on 2.5ghz (will have to turn it up to 450mbps) the other on 5ghz runs online games great. If you only have 5 or 6 items this maybe over kill.

definitely easy to use and worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, basically, I was looking for a new router so as to increase the reach of my wireless network. A friend suggested the N900. While I do wish it was a little bit cheaper, it did work exactly as I wanted. Plus, it was relatively easy to install.

Very nice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fastest wireless I have used yet. Prior to this I had the linksys E4200 v1. This router blows it clear out of the water. Amazingly consistent fast speeds. 12 devices connected to this router.

Good for the First Year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After having repeated issues with routers dying on me thanks to the Florida heat and sand, I invested my money into the Netgear router. I thought that based on the positive reviews it would be a reliable router and it was- for the first year. I purchased the router March 30th of 2012; by May of 2013 we lost all wireless reception in our house. When my husband contacted the manufacturer he was told that his software had expired and he would have to pay to get them to fix it. What appears to have actually happened is that the router password expires without prompting you to change it and your whole wireless network goes down without warning. My husband was able to fix this problem on his own, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. In the future my money won't be spent on Netgear products.

Decent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a very large all brick home and the router does a better job than the standard ISP product and slightly better than the one-step-down product of the same brand but it doesn't impress me as much as I expected. Once I get out of this ridiculous house, perhaps it will meet my expectations.

Great router for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router replaced the free one my cable company gave me (which turned out to be worth the price I paid for it). It's fast, it connects quickly to the home network, and the dual bands are great for speeding things up.
