Was promising, but in the end had to buy a Linksys

I purchased this wireless router to replace a functioning Linksys that I was handing down to my parents since their bottom of the line Trendnet was constantly locking up. Setup of the Netgear was easy and the administration tools were nice and easy to use. However quickly after I installed this I noticed a few things including the range on my garage door opener substantially decreased. Also the 5ghz band seemed unreliable and caused the router to eventually provide no throughput after 24 hours or so, the only way around this was to turn off the 5ghz band (which was one of the main reasons I picked this model). Also the router seemed to lose connectivity to the cable modem, requiring a reboot every day or so. After a two weeks of dealing with the rest of the family complaining about "the internet" I decided to return this and go with what I always found to be a reliable brand: Linksys - picked the EA6200 router and all these issues are resolved.

Nice upgrade in the dual band router family

Netgear is hands down the easiest router to install for a home network. I replaced a 3700 dual band router in about 20 minutes. Like a lot of contemporary products the 4500 does not come with an install disc. If you're going to install this product make sure you have a reliable, fast internet connection before you start. My 4500 is connected to a cable modem (also relatively new) and the gain in wireless speed is noticeable.

Best router I've ever had. Flawlessly links computers, printers (including one that is USB only), Blu-Ray player, and probably anything else that I will ever have.

    100% Junk

100% junk, after 1 to 2 hours Wi-Fi single drops (2.4 and 5) all lights go out then come back on, called Tech support and after several adjustments it worked for about 2 hours then same thing all over again exchanged routers 3 times with same results, Tech support now tells me my house wiring is bad and to call a electrician just so happens I am a electrician, I explained to them I upgraded from the N 300 and never had a problem for almost 4 years with that router and using same wall outlet and UPS and Cat 5 wires, another trip to the store and bought the NETGEAR WNDR4500 N900 Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router, guess what folks same results worked for about hour and a half and back on the phone with tech support, they tell me it is a hardware issue.. Also tried the same 4 routers while using a UPS so I knew line voltage was not the issue, so now using the old N 300 and no issues what so ever for over a week now, when the N 300 dies I will not ever buy Netgear junk again and suggest the same to you save your money and headaches

I bought this Router almost 1 year ago and so far no complaints at all which is great. I have 2 iPhones, 1 iPad, 1 galaxy Tab 3, 1 desktop, 1 laptop, wireless printer, roku, Apple TV & a 500gb hard drive attached to the router and all of the devices are running without any issues. Great wifi signal on both bandwidths and really good wifi speeds. Net gear makes solid products.

The router works flawlessly and is a great choice for heavy game users or home use however if you plan on utilizing it for business or to access your files from remote locations you would be better to get a router with VPN capabilities and the ability to install DD-WRT technology.

Great router that we updated to. Two smart televisions, two laptops, two smartphones, two rokus, two Wi-Fi printers, one Wi-Fi Blu-ray player, one tablet, one VOIP phone, one Wi-Fi external server, and one wired computer for work. The router is able to handle all this traffic without any issue.

Overall I woul suggest this unit over the 600n. I burned one out in 8 days replaced with this unit and love it. I have put multplie at client sites as secure AP's and repeating AP's. Once locked down and once you turn on the guest network it is a great unit.

Google "Netgear flashing green power light". I had multiple firmware issues with this N900 wireless router. The last one was so bad I couldn't factory reset the device essentially turning it into a brick. I won't buy Netgear products again.

Cannot DHCP and Static IP at same time

Setup of router was very easy. Used to Linksys web interface and had no problems adjusting to this one. After all was setup by devices would connect to the network but could not get internet access. Figured out that you cannot use Static IP with basic configuration...so I used the DHCP reservation settings like manual recommended. After I got done with my pc it worked, but then I realized that I was going to have to go and manually reconfigure every static IP'ed device on my network and the router to make it work. After some research I found that the only way to get static IP to work is to turn off DHCP! So you can't have a fully functional network that has both DHCP'ed and static IP'ed devices. Returned it.

My old Netgear died. I replaced it with this one. Once I got it home it took minutes to setup. After initial setup I was able to then put my old router setup (names, password, etc) in and it picked up all of the devices that the old router had. (Printer, 2 laptops, 3 phones, kindle, iPad, Wii, etc).

    Needs to be constantly reset

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

When the device works I can surf the web quickly and easily. No problems when looking up videos or downloading music. Biggest complaint is that I need to reset the device every 12 hours. The device gives no warnings or any sign that it disconnects from the internet, but turning it off and then on again always solves the problem. Only after owning the device for a few weeks did I realized that it must be done every 12 hours. I feel that for the amount I paid I should not be having the daily problems that I'm having with it.
