I purchased the item when it was on sale so I got it for ~110 dollars (elsewhere was being sold for 175). It works well to extend my 2 and 5GHZ signals. The item is a bit bulky as it is the same save as my wireless router and so it is not easy to hide out of sight especially since it will be located in most people's home hallways. The setup does require some knowledge of how to setup WIFI as its setup is similar to setting up a wireless router. I have yet to get it to work as a hub for a hard drive or printer (it is advertised that it can support an external hard drive or printer as a network drive or printer). It was much easier setting up the router I have (ASUS) as a hub for both an external hard drive and printer than with this product. In summary, it is great for extended your WIFI signals (2 and 5 GHZ) but is a bit bulky and is not easy to get it to support add-ons such as a printer or external hard drive

I was going to purchase the cheaper wifi booster, but didn't want to take a chance. So, I paid a bit extra for this one. I really have no mode of comparison, since this is the first wifi extender I have purchased. Therefore, I do not know how it compares to the other ones. But, I can tell you that when I itt in my room which is 3 rooms away from the router, I am able to get an excellent signal withl 5 bars on my laptop. I was unable to get up to 1 bar prior to purchasing this extender. My kids are also very happy, because they get an excellent signal while in their rooms, where they were only getting 2 or 3 bars prior. We have an old house with some very thick cement and plaster walls, so it's a big surprise to get such great wifi.

My wife had to work from home for two weeks. The WiFi connection was weak in the dinning room. The Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 was easy to install and delivered a strong signal to the dinning room.

In pretty much any case, if you do not know what brand of a technological equipment you should buy, look at Netgear. The Netgear Nighthawk series (both routers and wi-fi extenders) are great and this is one of the best things you can buy if you need your wi-fi to reach further than your base modem/router can do. We have AT&T U-Verse and their modem (AT&T forces you to rent their modems) does not reach my bedroom upstairs. Our house is 2,640 sq feet and for whatever reason the AT&T modem reaches the top of our stairs with around 86 mbs out of our 100 mbs package, but the step after our doorway it drops to below 1 mbs. Needless to say this was not acceptable so my wife and I bought this wi-fi extender. It works great. We set the extender in our living room which is right below our room (coincidentally the living room has no problem getting 100 mbs) and with this extender our room now gets around 60 mbs at any given time. If your internet package includes speeds up to 100mbs or whatever it may be you will not get your maximum speeds at all times regardless, but the extender will dilute that a bit more no matter what you do. The Nighthawk extender does the best job I have ever experienced of keeping that dilution to a minimum and maintaining speeds for the additional reach. In short, if you need an extender, do not hesitate to spend the extra cash on this one as it will handle all your needs and give you top performance. If the extender lasts half as long as my old Nighthawk router (both functioning length of time and how well its specs hold up over the years compared to newer models), then you can count on this for 3-5 years easy barring any major technological breakthroughs.

We really liked the extension we got with this router. We get internet service all over the house.
