Wonderful Extender, but DON'T UPGRADE FIRMWARE!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Like others who have written here and on Netgear forums, this is an excellent WiFi & Hotspot extender! Grabs signals from hundreds of feet away and throws them even further out for very wide coverage (at commendable rebroadcasting speeds, to boot). However, DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE when Netgear prompts you! The newest update (Sep 2018 - 1.0.1.78) will more than likely cause you to experience frustrating intermittent issues with your router connection and bring you to tears. Just take it out of the box, setup the unit as instructed and don't listen to anything else the Netgear homepage tells you. This has been a huge issue for so many customers and as of Jan 2019, Netgear has yet to pull the upgrade for fixing. Disappointing actions from a normally well-regarded company who makes pretty great tech. Other than that, this is an EXCELLENT WiFi & Mobile Hotspot range extender!

      Hi Mike3299,

Wireless routers, access points, and adapters send and receive radio wave signals through antennas. To optimize your wireless range, we suggest checking this resource: "Improving wireless range: Overview" To find this resource, one of many others, please login to MyNETGEAR and click support.

Please let us know if this resolved your issue by updating your review. Best Wi-Fi Range Extender on the market!

    Posted .

This has to be the best Wi-Fi Range Extender on the market. I've had two other high priced range extenders and this model blows both of them away. Not only has my Wi-Fi signal improved from my last extender, it is as strong all around my house as it is from the router. Also, I don't have to unplug and restart this model as I had to do with my other extenders. I was very skeptical to buy this model after purchasing the last extenders, but I can only say to pay the extra money and purchase this model as you will be glad you did.

    Great Extensive Coverage

Great extender for the living room all the way to the garage and side of the house as all my hardware is located in the master bedroom. Haven't experienced any lag and/or slow speeds but I do make sure to get my software updated and a good power cycle once in awhile does the trick. Easy setup with straight forward admin access.

Owned the NETGEAR - AC1200 Dual-Band Wireless-AC Range Extender and while helped some I still had signal issues on 2nd floor on the end of the house away from the router (Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200). Read a number of favorable reviews and took the plunge. As with the previous unit, set up was a breeze. No more signal strength issues anywhere in the house. Problem solved.

I read the reviews online and was a bit skeptic about the whole thing, but I went ahead and got it and it works like a charm. My modem does have the GRS or whatever the button is called so the whole pairing took less than 2 minutes. I set it downstairs where I was getting half the bars and now it's full bars, no "buffering" "internet connection lost" anymore. Strongly recommend it.

    Easy and Effective Wi-Fi

This couldn't be any easier to set up - out of the box, and sync with your existing router. Then off it goes to balnket your house in wi-fi without having to set up additional networks or passwords. It supports wi-fi through thick lath and plaster walls in my one story house, well as all the way to my backyard and pool.
