    Easy Set Up

I bought this router to replace a Netgear AC1800 which was working perfectly. I could not resist the $100 off sale price at Best Buy. it is imperative that the user download and follow the steps in the Netgear App to get the unit installed quickly and correctly. I already had a Netgear account and the Netgear app on my phone and I pad. I followed the steps in the App and the setup went smoothly. I was up and running in 15 minutes. The one thing they should add to the setup process is that if the wiring is correct and the router does not connect to the internet, reset the modem. I did that and it worked like magic. I renamed the router with my existing router name and used the same password I had on it. Worked like magic. I did not have to reset a single item in my home and I have a garage door opener, refrigerator, two hubs, two televisions, two amazon fire sticks, Two Apple Tv's, a ring doorbell, a house full of smart light bulbs, etc. (Sounds like Best Buy is my second home.) I read complaints about getting the unit set up, but I did not experience any of those issues. Installed easily and so far it works perfectly. I would definately recommend this unit to a friend or family member.

    worthless parental controls (device access)

    Posted .

I had high hopes for this router after replacing a dated basic Linksys router. Since we have more devices now, I expected a more advanced device would have more features, particularly regarding access/parental controls. Other than having a web app, the router controls are antiquated. Access is limited to allow/deny devices with no advanced scheduling. I ended up returning the router and purchased a comparable Linksys model. It has a better user interface, web app and advanced scheduled based on device. I have teenagers and I don't want to constantly monitor the devices. Aside from that, the router itself seems to have good coverage and speed while we had it for a couple of days.

Great WiFi Router for the price

At the lower end of the price spectrum for *reliable* WiFi routers -- this is a great purchase for the price. I was having trouble with my FiOS WiFi reaching my basement from my main level so I was looking to supplement my basement (where my gaming consoles and PC are located) with a more reliable signal and router so I can keep my cabling minimized. After install, I noticed that my phone (because I'm too lazy to change which router I'm connected to) has stayed linked to the Nighthawk and even on the second level or in my back yard I am still able to receive reliable WiFi coverage. I don't know what people are looking for in a WiFi router, but I have consistent connection with very low latency, and my PC (hardwired to router, which is hardwired to FiOS gateway) is obtaining the advertised speeds for my Gig-Speed internet. Very reliable product. I notice most reviews seem to be related to receiving a faulty product, which is common in the tech world, please return the product for a working model and test that model.

After later firmware updates the router has worked very well. The only negative is that rebooting takes a while. Other than that no complaints

Setup was a breeze. We have fios, and literally all you do is unplug the old router from the ont box and plug in the new one So easy. Speeds are now at the speeds I pay for. Router lives up to the hype.

Decent device but missing big feature for parents

    Posted .

So, the netgear website says this has parental controls....but it doesn't. I had the ac1750 prior to this because of the parental control features. This one claims to have it, but it absolutely doesn't. It doesn't even support the Disney one (which is a bogus app by the way). I don't know why this important feature was left off, but this is not a good device for parents. It works well in 3k+ sq ft home, but missing a vital feature for me. Had to return it and got the X6.

Fantastic Black Friday Deal $89! Strong Signal

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Got this on early Black Friday sale yesterday and was a fantastic value at $89! I wanted to get rid of my CenturyLink Fiber "modem/router" combo and no longer lease that equipment. Was able to hook this up and make a few changes to some settings and it works fantastic! Speeds are so much faster coming thru this than they were the leased CL modem/router, which was a Technicolor C2000T. I just upgraded my internet speed from 40MB to 100MB and the C2000T would only kick out around 45BM via wifi and the full 100 via ethernet cable. After hooking up the Nighthawk by itself with said changes my wifi speed is almost at the full 100MB just about every time I test it on speedtest.net. Very happy with this Nighthawk router. Way better than the $100 replacement router that CL sent me (C110Z)which only spit out about 20MB wifi. That one got sent back.

PERFORMANCE This router is FAST and gives me MUCH better signal in my house. I live in a town home that was built in the 1970s and the whole down stairs is encased in cement. To say the least, it’s challenging for wireless. My router is located downstairs in my entertainment center right next to a cement wall. I took some measurements in a previously weak signal area of my home and it got much better with this router.

I love this router. Got during the pre-Black Friday sale for $89. Covers my entire home and even though I have 30+ devices hooked up, everything works smoothly. Super easy to set up and easy to monitor things with the Nighthawk app. I would highly recommend this router.

    Smart Connect Does Not Work

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased a couple of weeks ago. Was easy to set up and very happy with the performance. VERY disappointed that the Smart Connect feature does not work. When Smart Connect is turned on, a couple of my devices that are only 2.4 GHz capable fail to connect. Turn SC off and all is well again. I have the latest firmware, and a call to support resulted in half an hour of difficult to understand English and no solution. Support told me they would submit to their labs for review and assistance and I would hear back. I was given a case number and a few days later I was notified that they appreciated my purchase and the case was closed. I've seen the same issue in various online forums with no solution. Still thinking about returning it.

I upgraded from 40 Mbps to 200 Mbps and my old wifi router was only putting out 40 Mbps max( speed taken from playstation network test). With this one it jumped up to 163 Mbps which is great for gaming

I bought this hoping to increase my wifi connection in my entertainment room that I just set up. My old router was fast but only if you were closer to it. Now everything is faster, farther away, than when I was closer to it. I was skeptical that a new router would give me better range but the price was right to try it. I'm glad I did because my wifi connection is excellent throughout my house now.

Bought this to fight a cyber war against my family only to find out the scheduled blocking per device does not work. Nighthawk AC2400 can block per device, but not on schedule. Recurrent issue on various forums. Otherwise working for a whole week so far.

    NO MORE NETGEAR FOR ME

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Not sure if I will ever purchase another netgear product ever. I bought a netgear AC2400 router to replace an older model and it kept dropping the network all the time while the old model was not doing that. Seriously NOTHING but problems from day 1. The light would flicker for the internet and it would cut out time and time again. Then it quit working so I left it for about a year because it was off warranty and so no tech support. I tried again to fix it after I got an email that their was a firmware update. It worked like it did before - cutting out from time to time. Then another firmware came out - I tried that and it bricked it in the middle of the install - so now it is not working at all. Just the power light and nothing will get it to work. Complete waste of my money. Will go with a google mesh system as netgear made a very faulty product and I hate wasting my money on junk.
