    Netgear Smart Connect feature broken

Netgear smart connect setting configures both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz network with same SSID/password. When you enable this feature your 2.4Ghz devices will not connect. If you have a mixture of 5 and 2.4 devices you will have to setup those as separate networks (thereby bypassing the broken "smart connect" feature/selling point). This problem is widely discussed within Netgear support forums but so far Netgear has not addressed.

This internet security was bad - I was hacked

I was hacked due to a vulnerability in the Netgear back door. Thanks to naming all of my appliances on the router, I was able to identify and remove the offender immediately. However, after heavy research I found out Netgear is/was having major issues with this back door hacking. I got rid of this, and went with a more robust mesh router in my house, and am much happier with my new purchase.

    Complete Junk

The router wants you to use an app that tracks a lot of data so that may turn some people off immediately. Second, the app installation process ran a firmware upgrade that not only bricked the router it also caused my cable modem to stop functioning. After dealing with tech support twice, who are nearing impossible to understand, I was told to mail the router back. It turned out they don't pay shipping to replace broken product despite their technical support diagnosing the issue as a hardware failure and it being well within the warranty period. Would recommend you avoid.

    Unreliable and slow

Replaced an older Netgear router with this, it is always dropping internet connection on both wired and wireless. Hardwired connections are slower than the 4 year old router it replaced. Even with 200 mbps from my modem it won’t stream a short YouTube video without buffering, and watching a movie on Netflix is like someone is always hitting pause. Really dissapointing performance.

Looks Great on Paper, but Paper Lies

I purchased this router to use as a wireless bridge. I attempted to set it up using the directions provided in the manual only to discover that the manual is incorrect. Updating the firmware did not help and the phone support agents were less than useless. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this router because of the lack of correct information and lack of support provided.

When I realized that this route has no Parental Control it was to late to return it. I'm so disappointed.
