Avoid this brand! No support after 90 days!

Owned for 11 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We have had this machine for 1 year and suddenly we are experiencing constant interruption of WiFi. We tried adjusting settings, resetting router, power cycling the network, and making sure that firmware is up to date. Still has not fixed the issue. Tried calling Netgear and they want to charge me $130 to troubleshoot. The warranty for assistance is only good for 90 days. I would recommend getting another brand because they do not stand by their products. Also the Nighthawk app is garbage.

Now on a dedicated modem and router and getting 500+Mbps on WiFi), but otherwise, it works well as a modem and wired router.

Nightmare

I usually love Netgear, but the lights on the thing are like a an airport landing strip. The back part to plug in the Ethernet lines is not easy either hope you have small hands. Also, I have a Motorola and was told that I needed a new modem/router for 1000 Mbps as my Motorola wont give me that speed. Meanwhile, my Motorola gives me speeds way above this unit. Maybe I got a dud? I wont know because I cant go into the store due to Coronavirus. Overall between the lights, Ethernet ports and the poor operation I would not recommend this product.

malfunctioned within two weeks

Called Netgear and they said it was broken and that I needed a new one. Very disappointed.

Not the best for the price

buggy and stupid config option.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.it is impossible to add a wifi printer shared by devices on the guest network and keep the guest network separate from the local network (ie, the guest network cannot access local network). This is caused by the option: Allow guests to see each other and access the local network. If you have to allow devices on the guest network to access the wifi printer, you lost the security (ie, devices on guest network can access important data on local network) STUPID DESIGN!!

NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!

Constantly dropping, glitching out. I have tried different settings, placement, and nothing helps. There are settings to manually change the channel to a less congested one but every time I change it, and apply the setting, it randomly chooses a new channel that is not the one I selected.

Didn’t last a year, Netgear doesn’t honor warranty

Netgear support refused to help or offer warranty, just tried to get me to pay hundreds of dollars for extended coverage which is highly disrespectful after I spent $400 on this thing.

Not New and Doesn't Work

However, when I went to set it up, it did not have the factory settings The security questions were already set. I did a factory reset and set it up. I now know why it was returned. The WIFI doesn't work. It continuously drops devices and does not push data. I will return it and get another in hopes that it just a problem with this unit.

And this super fast one is not all that super fast. I've had it for almost 6 months. Biggest waste of $ for me in the last year. I want my Linksys back so bad after using this junk. It appears all their equipment is being dumbed down to plug and play with very limited control of advanced settings. Not buying shiny new ever again, old faithful is better.

Stopped workin in half a year

So if you dont want to get yourself into frustration like I did, please do yourself a favor and use the $400 in other better places.

slow wifi connection

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am constantly getting slow wifi speed, 20 to 60 Mbps download , on wired ethernet getting 800 to 900 Mbps. xfinity checked my line and no problem.spoke to netgear tech support. not able to resolved issue,changed to multiple channel. same wifi speed,did a factory reset with tech support,same wifi speed.per tech support, they can't do anything more on there side.

Don't touch it

Cost us 3 weeks of time, 2 separate technician trips and over $50 in billing and a lot of frustration. Malfunctioning from the beginning. Return back to Best Buy. Swithch to twice cheaper Motorola and have super strong signal since then. I cannot rate this junk.
