    DO NOT BUY

DO NOT BUY!!! We bought this router 1 year and 1 month ago for $350 and today we had a minor power outage (that we didn’t even notice) but the router completely lost power to it. The part of the cord that goes into the router does have power coming to it but the router doesn’t turn on. We had this issue twice already. When we bought it the first time it stopped working in a couple of days so we thought it was a defect and just replaced it (also we installed power surge protection outlet just in case). Today it happened again and when I called to customer support they said they can help me troubleshoot it but if troubleshooting will help they will charge me $160 for 2 years customer support service. They also said that because it’s 1 year over hardware warranty they will not do anything about it and I need to go and buy another $350 router. I am never buying anything Netgear in my life again and posting this review everywhere under this product!

Great product. The combined cable modem and wireless router not only solidified my Internet connection but improved my in house WIFI performance.

    Spotty and unreliable

Been problematic since I purchased it, which is terrible due to the price tag. I have spectrum with 450 MBS, I’m running a TV 2 iPhones, A LAPTOP and AN XBOX SERIES X. I constantly drop out of 4K, WiFi drops from phones, and the laptop. I’ve had spectrum out to address any issues to no resolve. I’ll be returning this for a different modem and router. (Not combo)

    Such a disappointment

This is such a disappointment. This device started out great. But soon became a laggy nightmare. It first started with a laggy interface. When I first set it up the interface was ok. It wasn't lightening fast but acceptable. Then the nightmare surfaced. DHCP issues everywhere. It popped up at random. Things that were connected w/o issue suddenly got an address from the router but no data. Reboot usually fixed the issue but it was just temporary. Then the nightmare part 2 surfaced. WiFi connection drops. Again, randomly, wifi connections would just stop for certain things. It got so bad I actually logged in and watched the logs and the wifi radio would reset every 3-5 min for no reason. That was it for me. Thankfully BestBuy took this raging piece of trash back (almost 3 mo to the day). They gave me store credit but that was fine with me. After surfing some forums and talking to some BestBuy staff I bought a cable modem and separate wifi router. All in one boxes are a nice concept. But all in one boxes that do everything well are hard if not impossible to find. Worse they're terribly expensive. I bought an Arris cable modem and Netgear Nighthawk wifi router and still had over $100 in store credit. Bottom line; If you want one box that does it all think again. You're gonna spend 2-3x more and have mediocre performance. PLus if one item goes out (in my case) the whole thing is junk.

    Slow speeds and dropped devices

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have Spectrum 1gig service and with this modem, my speeds would drop to 200-300Mbps. A factory reset would usually bring the speeds back. It also randomly drops wireless devices and won't re-assign an IP address without performing a factory reset. My Spectrum service is new construction. The spectrum provided modem works fine with no issues. Poor 15-day return policy from Best Buy and Netgear being unwilling to refund this device means I'm stuck with this junk. Do some Google searching and you will find many other reports of this issue. I will not purchase from Best Buy or Netgear again.

    Wi-Fi tanked after firmware updates

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Until the latest firmware update tanked out the Wi-Fi it was fantastic! Great speed, no lag even with multiple game systems and phone all in Wi-Fi. The only thing I had plugged into a port was my computer. I bought this in October 2021 when it was the top of the line modem/router to replace a 6 year old Netgear unit. When it worked, this thing was a BEAST. After this last firmware update, 2 different hour long phone calls that they courtesy comped, their tech support is only free for 90 days, I have a useless unit that will only work if all my devices are plugged in the back. And the replacement cost is $379. Their warranty is only a year and of course I’m the problem, not the unit. Switching to Arris or Motorola, Netgear just lost me.

Wish I had never bought this one

I don't know how anyone could say this router is worth the money. And after talking to Netgear support I won't even buy another router from them. It is total junk. It may have worked for about a week. They sent me a replacement, still issues with connectivity. They even had me doing some crazy adjustments to it. I would steer away from this one. And to top it off, Best Buy would not let me return if for a refund and neither would Netgear so I was out $300+. Never again!! Also I probably won't go back to Best Buy because of their total disregard for my problem.

This belongs in a Dumpster Fire!

So the first one I got had 100 percent packet loss, Between xfinity tech support and NETGEAR’s joke of Tech support which was so called escalated and never called me back. I made the mistake of returning it and getting a new one. The new one didn’t have packet loss but list internet connection continuously. I also was only getting a tenth of my gig speed. So once again I returned it and this time got the Arris G36. Activated was easy and no more issues. NETGEAR is a Hot Mess that you will be sorry to buy if you got Xfinity!

Had it a little over a year and finally had enough

The router always required a reboot once a week or every other or it had frequent temporarily hiccups of getting stuck. After the last unsolicited firmware update things got much worse. It got completely stuck at least once a day. I spent quite some time troubleshooting Saturday and opened up a ticket where they sent me straight back to the support site I already went through. They didn’t even bother to read. It’s not a cheap device so the money might be better spent somewhere else.
