I recently acquired this router and I'm really liking it so far. i just upgraded from an older model and the technology is getting better every time. The nighthawk app is my favorite part and is really a great feature to have when needing to maneuver and manage things real quick on your phone.

I bought this router because of the Netgear name, to expand my home network capability. Setup was customarily simple; operation is solid and consistent. Wifi covers my whole whole house and yard. Effective security options. I would recommend this and all Netgear products to everyone.

The device is fantastic. Completely boosted my internet immediately on hooking it up. I keep 12 devices on the router at all times with NO service interruption or buffering. I was Skeptical in purchasing the nighthawk but DEFINITELY recommend it to all of my friends.

Too bad. NETGEAR was THE brand not long ago.

There are a LOT of things to like about this router when it works -- easy setup from web browser, good coverage, fast -- does what it says it does. However, it started dropping internet connection less than 6 months after purchase in Oct 2022. I bought 2 NETGEAR routers in 2022... (the other was NETGEAR - AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 Router Model: RAX10-100NAS -- which died the same way.... in a month or so). But this one (AX4200) I thought would be OK (because NETGEAR + paying a lot more this time). But No, it also stopped working much too soon. I've read opinions online that WIFI 6 technology just isn't ready yet -- and so I tried disabling the AX (WIFI 6 ) features in settings so that maybe the processor would have an easier time and work -- but no joy. Factory resets too. Nope. Too bad -- NETGEAR was THE brand not long ago. In fact, when these two new NETGEAR routers died on me, I would put my (ancient) NETGEAR Router N300 WNR200 back in temp service and it worked nicely, except it can only give 50 Mbps max Inet speed. But remarkable that after 10+ years it still works so well! Conclusion: NETGEAR used to do it right, for sure on that. I'm giving up on NETGEAR (and AX technology) for now. I've now got a newly purchased TPLINK AC4000 MU-MIMO router installed, and it certainly has good coverage and faster capability then my ISP can provide (I'm having 400 Mbps from my ISP rt now). Also Much cheaper router. AC technology handles up to 7 Gbps. (I will probably never have ISP that fast? But who knows).

    Stop Deciding. Just Get Netgear

We recently were experiencing some internet issues. We called Spectrum to check and they came out and said it was our router. We needed one fast so we had them hook up one of theirs. It was one of their best he said. Yeah, I know. We've been down this road before with bad decision-making. Still dealing with issues so I picked up the Nighthawk AX5 (and AX8 Extender) but still could not hook up my security cameras. That was more user error because I'm not tech savvy at all. Camera techs were useless so I contacted Netgear chat and it was magic! Everything is connected and working fine and dandy. Netgear products and their customer service are outstanding. I'm not kidding. It is.

A lightning strike took out my older R6300, so upgraded to this. Love the adjustable antennas and sleek profile. The web interface is easy to work with as usual for Netgear routers. The wifi range seems comparable to my R6300. I wish it was a bit more powerful. It also takes up a good chunk of desk area (8" x 14"). I would have liked to see a vertical stand design. Yeah, you can wall mount it, but then you have to deal with the wiring. It also runs a lot cooler than my R6300. Wired to a gaming PC, and wifi connects to laptop, Sony smart TV, PS4, laser printer, and cell phone.
