One of the easiest network setup I’ve ever done in my life so far with this amazing router. Quality of build is quite good, and the quality of the wifi is even better. I have been having some connectivity issues with my previous router and I was hoping that this router would solve all my problems. I am extremely pleased with the coverage and speed. This router has made gaming life so much better. No more dropped games or lag!! Setting up the network details and guest network is very easy. You can check your connection strength/speed/status while away. You can even disable your wifi while away if you desire. It blasts signal through all my walls and floors to every corner of my house and even my yard. Went from test speeds of 300 to test speeds of over 900. And easy set up. The only hiccup was that the firmware update failed during installation but the next morning, the router went down for a minute then rebooted. I am guessing that was the firmware update. Since then, it has been a week and running great. I live in a 3400 sqft home and loving life now with fast, efficient downloads and uploads inside and outside the large home. Thank you so much for making this router with optimal performance!!

The Nighthawk AX5300 is a tremendous value, and overall a very capable router. We use it on our Gigabit cable internet service and it has made a very noticeable difference in the performance of all of our wireless devices in the home. The range is fantastic, which is something other devices have struggled with in the past. We can use our laptop and tablets in the garage and even the front and back yard which is many walls away from the router. Even with the distance and potential blockers and interference between the router and our devices the connection stays strong and our speeds are very solid. I also have my PS5 and PC plugged directly into the router and they work flawlessly. The setup was very easy as well. After decommissioning our old equipment, we had our new hardware up and running in no time at all! This box has great security and a ton of configurable options to keep you and your devices safe, and keeping you in control. Overall I would choose this router again, it has done a fantastic job and has proven to be a great value.

Has made the wifi connection around the house a lot faster. Because my walls are made of plaster, i had poor wifi strength in other rooms. Now, with this router, my wifi is fast in all my rooms

All features are locked down under subscription services and this router lacks many of the features you can get in other routers of much less cost. Its has constant ads , is slow and the radios are underpowered. The radios are not strong and the router is slow. Gone are the days you can spend for a mid/top range product and expect it to be the best. Avoid Netgear at all costs.

I ultimately returned this. It might work better if it was a modem/router. But not for me for just wifi. Ended up getting a mesh system.

I took a break from using Netgear networking products for a while since I had a couple of small unmanaged Netgear gigabit switches randomly drop connections even though the link light and activity LEDs were blinking happily as if network traffic was fine. Friends and relatives rave about their positive experience with Netgear routers, so I decided to give the Nighthawk AX5300 a try. I connected it to my Gigabit fiber Internet and once I had the Nighthawk App running on my phone, I set it up with the same SSID and passphrase I had on my old router so my 20+ Wi-Fi devices don’t have to be reconfigured. The setup went smoothly through the App but if you're like me and prefer manually tweaking the more advanced networking features, you can still access them via a web browser instead of just a smartphone App. Once the basic setup steps were done, upgrading the firmware was one of the very first steps that happened and completed pretty quickly. The ISP provided router the Nighthawk replaced was only WiFi 5, so upgrading to WiFi6 made a huge difference. For my main tests I used a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra running the latest patch level of Android 12. Here are my test results: Best results in the same room as the router cause WiFi6 @5GHz works best the closest you are: 5 GHz 468 Mbps down / 755 Mbps up One floor above and about 25 feet over from the router. 5 GHz 395 Mbps down / 685 Mbps up I also ran multiple speed tests from Ethernet wired win10 and win11 PCs and got ~ 970 Mbps down / 980 Mbps up! Those were the best results I’ve seen compared to all other routers I’ve tested over the last couple of years. This Netgear Nighthawk AX5300 Wi-Fi 6 router covers all 3 floors of the house quite well thanks to Beamforming technology and 4 antennas. The speed will go down quite a bit to around 200 Mpbs in the furthest corner away from the router, but that’s still plenty fast to stream 4K content smoothly. From a security perspective, it supports WPA 3, and comes with ARMOR Security service that you have to pay a subscription for. Also smart parental controls are free for only a 30-day trial, then you have to pay. Luckily, there are no children in our household, so we don’t have to worry about that. Another great feature is the USB 3.0 port that allows you to share files from an external USB hard drive or thumb drive to other devices on your home network and even over the Internet with the correct network security settings. In conclusion, this Netgear Nighthawk AX5300 Wi-Fi 6 router is a well performing and affordable model when on-sale. It is very easy to set up using the smartphone App and most importantly strong WiFi signal coverage and low latency suitable for gaming and streaming. Not Mesh compatible, so not quite upgradable/expandable if you have and move to a bigger house.
