I've always been a fan of NETGEAR products. This new Nighthawk AX5300 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 router is no exception. Note that this is not a MESH router - this is a single, stand-alone yet capable router that covers 2500 sq ft. If you have a small multi-level home, placing this on the center floor in the middle of the layout is your best bet. If you have a sprawling setup with lots of metal/concrete interference, you might want to consider a 2 or 3 node mesh router - like an Orbi. Overall - I am very please with the performance of this router. In addition, the 5 gigabit ethernet ports (1 WAN, 4 LAN) make it convenient to hardwire multiple devices if you need the truest and fastest speeds - like for gaming. This device has a triple-core process and 512MB or RAM to easily handle up to 25 devices. This router uses the AX wireless standard - to handle the newest and fastest generation of WiFi devices. Note that your existing desktops/laptops/devices may not yet use the AX standard - but since the router is backwards compatible, you won't have any trouble connecting. Again - this is a very capable device that is easy to setup and use! If you haven't upgraded your Wi-Fi for a couple years - this will make a significant difference in your experience. Always be sure to update the firmware as well - to be as safe and secure as you can!

The Netgear Nighthawk AX5300 and associated Nighthawk app work flawlessly both during the easy setup process and in everyday use. This is my third Netgear router and each of them has worked well. The only reason for upgrading was to take advantage of the increased speed coming from Xfinity. I occasionally have thought it might be better if Netgear provided router passwords that were a little more random and complicated, but after changing the network and password in 21 items, I was glad for the memorability of this one. I also appreciate the built-in protections it has and its easy connection to my new modem. We don't have a large house, but the signal is strong downstairs and up and in closed-in rooms. The price was also reasonable. In my opinion, it's a great purchase for high-speed Internet in any small to medium house.

It works. Had a few issues contacted netgear and they resolved most of them. The main issue that they couldnt resolve was the router stops working after 2-3 days and requires a reboot. Its very anoying since my old netgear router never did that. However the wifi connection is great and is very fast. Just wish the reliability was better. After a reset everything works as it should. I did find my own solution. I hooked up a smart plug to my router and scheduled a daily reset at 3 am when im sleeping. That reolved the issue. But i shouldnt have to do that it should just work out of the box without a third party solution. Mybe the memory gets bogged down after a few days i dont know.

I have no option but to use Cox cable in my home. They already charge too much for the service. I have no intention of paying even more for a router. I’ve been using a Cox Cable modem and connecting a router to it for years. I have a SamKnows device on my network so I always know what kind of speeds I have. (For information on SamKnows, just type that word followed by “.com” to get details.) My router was getting very old so this Netgear AX5300 is a nice step up. I’ve seen my upload and download speeds change with the download speed really going up. I was getting 240Mbps download and 8.5Mbps upload with my old router. Changing nothing else, I now get 578 Mbps Download and 9.69 Mbps upload. This is on a .5gb cable line. I love the increased speed. Now a little bit about the router itself. I’m very comfortable going into a router and changing it’s configuration. I can do it from a terminal session, a web interface and via Android app. With this router, everything was done from my phone. Don’t get me wrong, I have of course used the web interface, but the initial setup was all done on my phone. This is the 1st time that I have done that. It took me through all the necessary steps to allow me to duplicate the setup of my old router. (I had my old router turned off.) I switched the cables over to the Netgear AX5300, turned it on, and everything connected and started working. The router handles devices at 5 ghz protocols a, n, ac, and ax.and 2.4 ghz protocols b, g, n, and ax. The router can be configured to automatically detect the best way to connect any device. The router has QOS, the ability to block sites and services, and the ability to schedule times to block internet access. You can also configure the router to send e-mails when problems arise. While they state that it can handle up to 25 devices, I have over 50 and everything works flawlessly. I love the speed on the router as well as it’s simplistic setup. As long as you have a cable modem or DSL modem, this router would be a great addition to your network.
