beyond amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had nighthawk X8 for 2.5 years and I thought mine was already good. However after trying out this router I know now that there was much room for improvement. The speed and loading of my 4k youtube videos are now super fast. Simply amazing! I tried to download multiple large files and the router handles it like a champ!!

GREAT router for a big house
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this router as a part of NETGEAR’s First Look Review Program. Forst, I have a BIG house and have always struggles with getting my routers to reach everywhere. I plugged this guy in an BAM I can reach everything now. Even outside by the pool. Great router. Not a bad price. Love mine and really like the app functionality.

Good and Bad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The AX6000 or RAX120 work okay. It drops wifi signals several time a day. When I am trying to watch Roku on my TV's I get the death spiral for seconds to several minutes at a time. Often I have to unplug my Roku devices and star over again. My closest TV is 15 feet away and it is the worst effected.

Router for daily use 4K Streaming and Gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far the best router I have ever owned combined with Verizon as my ISP I am getting wireless speeds of up to 968Mbps and download speeds of 890Mbps blazing fast router no lag whatsoever my kids are gamers I have no complaints all my streaming apps on my TV's load in about 2 to 3 seconds Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Tv etc. pretty expensive for a router but worth every Pennie I spent for it WIFI - 6 is the best thing ever please don't judge the speed of this router if your using ISP companies like Atlantic Broadband, Comcast, Cox, Hughes Net etc... these ISP companies do not have true fiber coming into your home like Verizon Fios does.

Wifi drops all the time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Insane how poorly this router peforms. It’s constantly dropping wifi or losing internet even though I live in a small house with a solid fiber internet connection. Im not sure what sets it off… a first I thought that maybe nearby appliances were messing with its wifi, but it seems to cut out even in the dead of night when nothing else is on. I ended up buying Netgear wifi extenders to see if that would solve the problem, but they actually made it worse! The router completely crashed and stopped working once the extenders were setup. Had to unplug the extenders to get the router to work again. Insainly frustrated, but i should have known considering I also own an Arlo security system (also made by Netgear) which is the absolute bane of my existence.

Works well, when it works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router as a replacement for my NG WGR61.4 because of the excellent luck I had with it. Unfortunately the RAX 120 hasn't been the same experience. As several people have noted this model suffers from random reboots. I opened a ticket with NG and followed all of their recommended troubleshooting and continue to have the issue. I have upgraded and downgraded firmware, factory reset the unit, changed the MTU!?!?, etc, all with no effect. In addition to the suggestions from their support team I have also followed some provided on various forums. These include extra cooling, forcing the fan to run full time, changing the 2.4GHz quality of service, and even putting a UPS in line for power conditioning. Same result. The most frustrating part of this seems to be Net Gear's unwillingness to recognize that the product has an issue and send a replacement or a refund. To make matters worse my support ticket was automatically closed after 3 days because of inactivity while I was on vacation with no way to reopen it. At this point I've thrown my hands up and I'm looking into non Net Gear alternatives. Having an issue with a product is one thing, refusing to support that product is entirely different.

$500.00 Dollar Headache!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.bought this router last night and at first glance it was great. i had upgraded from the Nighthawk X10 or R9000. we were off to a good start for 4 hours until started playing and streaming and realized something was wrong. checked the speeds and im getting 40mbps/15mbps granted i'm paying for 500mbps/25mbps from spectrum. i power cycled the devices to no change and then thought NETGEAR is notorious from crappy firmware so i downgraded the firmware to Original launch date firmware. and nothing no change. i've been on the phone with tech support and also at this for hours trying to fix. going to exchange it to see if that helps but for 500.00 dollars you would think this thing would be better then its predecessor. the wireless connectivity is great but what does that matter when the speed is crap!! come on netgear get your stuff together. and just to say i tested my internet speed without the router hooked up and i was getting 550mbps/25mbps so this router is at fault i would have given this 1/2 a star but this system won't let me.

Avoid. Slow slow slow.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is a nightmare, not a nighthawk. I have solid gigabit service, and this beast does nothing with it. Bandwidth in, snails pace service to all streams and users. It also loses connection about every 10 minutes - making pretty much everything non functional. It also does not cover anywhere near the sqft it's advertised at.

ABSOLUTELY JUNK!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As soon as I hooked up the AX12 my ADT system went down...later found out that the AX12 and the ADT router had to be separate by a greater distance. Did not have this issue with my X10. All of my Blu-ray players, all of which are within a year or two old, stopped connecting to the internet. Phones and ipads would just drop their connections. My printer would drop connection. The router would not retain the NTP time setting. I could go on forever with my issues with the router and no, a firmware update did not fix anything. After about two weeks of nothing but headaches I did find a fix that resolved all of my issues...returned in and got me another X10. The joy has not been returned to my household. Netgear lost a lot of points with me for poor performance of a $500 router! Looking at trying an ASUS next.

Rebooting
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After i got it up and running it was rebooting at least 7 times a day. Netgear wanted me to pay for shipping and return it to them. Instead I took it back and switched it at Best buy and within 30 minutes of setting up the new one it did the same thing.

degrades with more than 10 connections
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.with over 23 connections from computers, laptops, tablets, smart plugs, phones this router freezes, drops wireless connections and refuses connections. it's fixed dhcp lease of 12 hours tests everything and drops wireless, pretty much useless for smart home use. tech support from netgear is useless.

Buggy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so excited when I purchased this router. I currently have a Netgear CM1100 modem with the Netgear X8 router. I updated the firmware and it was working fine. But in less than a minute my modem keeps resetting for some reason. It is like the router is shorting the modem once all the Ethernet cables are connected. Can not get it to work. After 2hrs of trying of troubleshooting I gave up and returning it for a refund.

A failure on multiple levels
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only thing good about this device is the design. Hardware: wings feel cheap and do not fit perfectly into the body. The installation process: Smooth and self-explanatory. Software: It's nice to have features, but if the basic functionality does not work, I do not care about the bells and whistles. Have to restart the device every other day, drops connection at least once a day. After a week of use all of a sudden, it starts broadcasting the guest network (which was disabled) and does not give any IP's anymore. I tried to reset the device with the reset button without any success. This device is not what to expect from a $500 router. I returned it and switched to another manufacturer.

Can't do AC when doing AX
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.when you enable AX on this router, AC is not usuable. None of my AC devices would connect, I even bought a netgear AC network extender and it wouldn't connect either. i had to plug it in with a wire and make it an access point to give me a access point with AC connectivity. Huge downfall for this router as AC devices are very common.
