I had a Motorola router before and it was terrible. It didn’t want to connect at times, because my internet connection was so strong. With this one, it’s absolutely amazing. It is so fast, I don’t have to worry about losing or dropping connection. Definitely worth every single cent… and there was a lot cents I had to spend lol

I’ve had this Modem Router for 2 years now and it continues to perform both wirelessly and hardwired. Do yourself a favor and tell your internet provider to keep their garbage modem / Router combos preferably the day they come to install the internet. They are the biggest scam ALL internet providers run. They will charge you 10 dollars a month FOREVER to use their terrible routers and if that’s isn’t comical enough I’ll tell you what is. You’ll never see the speeds you pay for using the provided routers from any company, most would think Xfinity has solid ones but I promise you they don’t and never did. I used to work as a Geek squad home install guy and every time I saw one of the internet provider boxes I knew my job was going to be harder that day lol.. The best investment you can make if you want a future proof modem that is sure to be relevant for years to come. Wifi speeds are impeccable with gig speed (Mediacom) cable internet. The Fastest speeds you’ll see come from the multi gig Ethernet port on the back using a high quality Cat 8 line. Do not use Cat 6, trust me I literally doubled my speeds to both my Xbox Series X and my laptop, switch to cat 8. I’d suggest the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 if you have gig speed and are more on a budget, it runs about 200 and will still outperform every cable company’s little crap box they give you and best yet your bill goes down 10 a month and you OWN it. I just installed one at my parents and they are getting very solid speeds for that price range, also fixed their security camera issues as the “new” modem Xfinity gave them wouldn’t communicate with the Blink cameras! This unit and the Nighthawk AC1900 both have 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz channels. Use the 2.4 ghz for longer range wifi (security cameras, smart switches / bulbs) and the 5 ghz signal for Tablets and Smartphones / computers (hardwire when possible with Cat 8 and a USBC to Ethernet adapter if your device doesn’t have an Ethernet port if you want max speeds and less traffic. Wired is still king, run it whenever possible. That includes your smart tv, you’ll never see anything buffer again on it.

I work from home 3 days a week. I have a 3000sq ft home with a basement a back deck, two ring cameras and two college kids. During summer holidays was the worst, with me working, my son playing games on the Xbox, my daughter on a video calls, my wife presenting to her team, and I am on calls at work which keep dropping and loosing connection (poor network signal error message) - so annoying. Solution was to shut down the ring camera (motion sensor was killing me everytime it uploaded a video). Buy (2) 100 ft Ethernet cables to patch into the modem directly which was not the best option because I had wires all over the house which was not ideal. Could not get a Wi-Fi signal in my basement when I worked out and had 1 bar on my device on the back deck - waste of time to browse outside in the evenings or weekends. I broke down and bought this modem, life changing experience. - 4 bars all around the house, including basement and back deck. - No issues with the ring cameras now - Download speeds of over 490-520mbps, upload speeds of 21-24mbps - when browsing the web, page loads like the flip of a page on a book. - Everyone at home working, streaming, browsing the web, all devices active and online - highly recommend BTW I am on Xfinity and am supposed to get up to 1000mbps - I used to get 150-200 on a good day on my old modem, when I am home alone

Lots of research to cut the cord

I cut the cord from xfinity - did lots of research . This unit is both a modem and router , very easy set up if you still pay for internet through xfinity . My X1 modem /router received 1100 Mbps and this netgear will only receive up to 690 Mbps ? Which , yes - everything that is hooked up to it works fine , but I pay for a GIG so I want download speeds of a GIG . Talked with netgear 3 times and the help me get up to the 690 Mbps and said that I could not get any faster unless I bought the new MESH system they have. Also said I could buy the the modem and a router as separate units. I have all my important equipment hard wired direct from the unit , for the best connections. All other wifi equipment I choose what gets 2.4ghz or the 5ghz signal . 2.4ghz is slower speeds but a bigger area of connection. 5ghz is the fastest speeds but the signal distance is smaller . All my research to cut the cord ended me up with this — my own modem/ router - the xfinity stream app , xfinity extreme 185 channel with 1 gig internet speed for $165 a month . I tried all the other apps and services — with the high end equipment that I have - I want the fastest speeds -no buffering - the highest quality pictures up to 8k and sound quality of 7.1 with atmos . I have a theatre with a 9.4.4 set up — high end equipment and tv — my house rocks and is just as good as going to the movie theatre, if not better . When I was using xfinity cable box and their X1 modem/router my bill was $225 a month for the popular plan (100 channels) and 1 gig download speeds. I only saved $50 a month but I learned a lot and have higher quality set up with no rental fees .

    Best modem/router you can buy

The great thing about this modem is that you dont need to call xfinity. I was able to activate this by myself by following the steps on the manual. It was very easy and took less than 10 minutes. I have the 1Gbps plan with xfinity and with my previous set up I could not achieve speeds beyond 940Mbps. Due to not having a motherboard with link aggregation, 2.5 Gigabit ethernet, or wifi 6. Neither my router had link aggregation to connect to my previous modem which did had this feature. Although I do not have any wifi 6 devices. You will notice a significant increase in speed. I did have to use a DFC channel in order to achieve speeds beyond 1Gbps. I got 1078Mbps on 802.11AC that is insane. I purchased an intel AX200 802.11AX Adapter but unfortunately is not compatible with Z390 motherboard due to them using a CNVI port rather than PCIe E key. The 201AX is not compatible either because its CNVIo2 which is not backwards compatible. I wish I would have performed a better testing. But I would need a feature pack motherboard such as a Z490 to test the speeds of this great modem/router.

I recently installed Internet at home with a company called breezeline in a plan of 1000mbps and 55mbps upload and I had bought the arris g36 very similar in price but with that arris g36 in wifi it did not exceed 700mbps download with this one it reaches more than 1000mbps and the wifi distance is much longer the app works great and in itself you can do a lot of things remotely you can change the names of wifi networks and reset the modem from anywhere in the world. I use that on the gibit 2.5 connection to an Xbox series x and it works fine I recommend it to gamers. The Nat will be open

After my internet provider was charging me monthly to use their modem/router, I looked at buying a 3rd party modem/router that was compatible. I landed on this model because I needed something that could support my higher speed plan and I wanted an all in one modem/router rather than having a modem with a separate router. Setting up the AX8 through my provider and through the netgear app was fast and easy, I now have more control over my home network. I have noticed I have faster speeds and more coverage with the netgear AX8 than the modem my provider gave me. I used to have drop outs and buffering when streaming, but I haven’t had that since switching. So far I am very pleased and definitely recommend this product

Great WiFi speed and range. Supports exellent streaming on multiple devices. For even better performance on our office desktops I threw in a couple of Powerline 2000's (PLP2000) for high speed ethernet over the house AC wiring.

I love Netgear. I’m not sure why, though my Wi-Fi does not seem to be working as outstanding on my phone. I will give it longer, but I don’t have to keep unplugging it like my old router. I also purchased the Protection Plan, which is fantastic because I got to use it, returning my old router since it kept failing me every day and purchasing a new one after a year with no out-of-pocket. Thank you, Best Buy, for allowing us this excellent insurance policy. One thing about the set up is I had to get in touch with Cox. They kept sending the signal, but they did not even know after they sent the signal that I also had to log onto Netgear and accept again on the app for the Wi-Fi to work so setting up was a little difficult. Cox was very nice they were gonna send someone out to see why it wasn’t working. But thank goodness that wasn’t the case. I went onto the app on my phone and I selected Wi-Fi and somehow connected to the Nighthawk.

    Beast !

I got this because my ISP increased my internet speed to 1200mbps. Comcast tends to give you 200 more mbps. I got this particular modem/router because it’s one of the only ones that have a direct 2.5Gbps LAN port that can go straight to my PC via Ethernet, making use of the full speed provided to me and will do so until the 2.5Gbps cap. I had a modem and router setup before but the router was bottlenecking the speed because of the 1000mbps rated LAN. So for my use case this modem/router helped. I’ve also noticed a difference on my laptop and phone over wifi with 400+ more mbps. This little hardware is a beast!

I recently purchased the Motorola MT8733 and had to return it. It has a very bad Wi-Fi radio and I would lose speed. The NETGEAR NightHawk CAX80 is the complete opposite. Since I’ve had this modem router combo I have had great a Wi-Fi signal and I don’t lose speed. It’s only about $90 more than the MT8733 and it’s worth every dollar. The Nighthawk app blows the Motorola Motosync app away. I love how everything is straight forward on the app and you can take care of more issues with the CAX80 using the app. This modem is compatible with Xfinity, Cox, and Spectrum but I’m using it for Xfinity. I get on average 960 mbps with a wired LAN connection, 279 mbps on the 2.5 GHz band, and 640 mbps on Wi-Fi the 5 GHz band. It does have an Ethernet LAN port that supports 1 gigabit and 2.5 gigabit speeds. It’s an expensive cable modem router yes; but you’re going to save money in the long run buying it. Buy this cable modem router. Do not buy the Motorola MT8733!

Doing tons and tons of research, I landed on this CAX80 Router as I got the most bang per dollar in this all in one unit. Setup was easy with comcast, just follow the provided instructions that came with the modem/router using Nighthawk and Xfinity apps. Once up and running I am now getting my full bandwith that I pay for! If I plug my XPS laptop in with CAT6 cable into the multi gig ports it will occasionally do over Gig speed, and i pay for around $800. The Wifi 6 is very fast. Although this unit isn't completely future proof (Witten Nov 2, 2022) with Wifi 6E on the Horizon, this fits the bill for me with my wife and 3 kids worth of devices. Highly recommend if looking for the all in one unit!

Bought to replace Cox's Docsis 3.1 modem but didnt want to buy an S33 plus router. Works great, and helped determine that I wasn't getting the speeds I was paying for because the lines were noisy! Cox replaces lines and now I'm getting the speed I'm supposed to, plus wifi range is huge and it's fast! Even on Wifi I'm getting 1100 down! Setup was easy, I used the hardwired method as the app is missing some features I'd like to see as more of a power user.

    Nighthawk AX6000 Router/Modem COMBO

I got this because my ISP increased my internet speed to GB speed. I got this model modem/router combo because of the direct connect to 2.5Gbps LAN port that can go straight into my previous router Which can handle handle GB speeds. I'm making use of the full speed provided to me along with having a separate network at high speeds (Speed test: 13 ms ping/47.36 MBs down/28.07 MBs up, via wi-fi not ether connection using a VPN and going through the second router on 2.4 connection). Since there a so many connected devices in the home, for my setup this modem/router combo handles the information speed transfer great. All of my connected devices are operating faster!!! Steaming service load times are shorter. HBOMAX used to freeze after watching a movie. Now not the case so much. This device may be a bit expensive, however you are getting a router and a modem together in one device. Setup through the APP is very easy and simple (Also follow you ISP guidelines for setup). Overall the Nighthawk AX6000 is a great buy.

Upgraded from the Nighthawk AC1900 which was a great router but needed a better range and after upgrading my internet speeds I needed one that can handle the speeds my provider was giving which was from 300mbps to 1200mbps and the CAX80 was what I needed. It had a better range and put out a more consistent connection due to the updated software even the Nighthawk app was better now since I've got this wifi/cable modem, so far very satisfied.
