This router setup fine, but ANY loss of internet, for ANY reason, be it a power outage, a disconnected cable, or anything else that causes the internet to be disrupted, even for a brief second, results in a condition where it will not connect to the internet modem ever again. I have spent countless hours troubleshooting the problem, and the only solution that ever works is a complete factory reset. As occasional internet outages are frequent in my area, I have had to factory reset (not a reboot) a complete factory reset a dozen times in the last 3 months. I cant take it anymore. I'm going to have to purchase another router. This one is only 5 months old, so im pretty disappointed.

This little router packs all of the features that cost hundreds of dollars more just a year ago. First of all, the looks of this unit are amazing. Having wings that fold like an x-wing fighter make a great first impression. It looks well placed anywhere in your house and the signal range is very good. It has all the features of a basic router using the 2.4 and 5 mhz channels, with the addition of the newest 6 mhz channel. Most people will not get to benefit from the new feature at this time since there are very few devices that worj on the 6 mhz channel currently. However, you will be future proofed as newer devices come onto the market. You have the ability to setup one SSID channel and it will automatically load balance your devices to the best suited channel. Netgear does a great job of providing the latest internet security with the option of using WPA3 and providing a year subscription to their Net Guard service. It runs security through Bitdefender and has an unlimited license to use on all of your devices. Parental controls is not super robust, but it has all of the basics to protect your kids online. For the mid-level price you will be taking advantage of top of the line features.

It was a good machine but I was don't happy to find out that customer service was an upgrade and if you wanted to setup family tracking that's another membership you have to pay for.

Netgear, I will NEVER do business with you again, since you feel it's totally acceptable to charge customers a month fee for wanting to enable a VPN or have basic port forwarding -- all features that have been available on your routers for over 20 years. Shame on you for the shameless money grab! Don't purchase this router!!

Once upon a time, I relied on Netgear for home networking equipment, as it was well-built, flexible, and offered options that made me, and IT professional, happy. Not so much anymore. This router turned out to have limitations that left me wanting, with the biggest show-stopper being the way it handled guest WiFi. Instead of doing the logical thing and having a separate subnet/VLAN for the "guest" network, it put them on the same network as the trusted devices. Yes, you can click an option to prevent guest devices from seeing other ones, but it's clumsy and caused issues on my long-established home network. It also grabbed DHCP addresses from the internal pool, which is just annoying. I ended up going back to the Linksys 6E router we were using, and I now appreciate it more. This comes on the heels of trying out one of the Orbi systems last year; we ended up giving that one to a friend who didn't care about the limitations of the interface. Netgear's iOS app is also lacking, it doesn't work well with VoiceOver, and is very inconsistent. I'm sure that it'll work fine for most, but if you're looking for flexibility and advanced features, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Overall the user experience isnt too bad. Would be nice to have a little more advanced features in the NightHawk app (like setting DNS servers or port forwarding), but still not a bad app.
