Not a Plug and Play Device

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My Windows laptop has no problem connecting reliably to this extender (which connects to a Netgear router). However, my Android Phone (Galaxy S9+) connects and drops continuously, and the iPhone and iPad (both newer devices) can't connect at all. I see from the web that I am not alone in this problem. I have tried most of the easy online solutions and none have worked. Now I need to try to change settings in the extender and perhaps my router. This device is not a plug and play device.

Poor performance

I thought this was it. Set was easy but takes along time to complete compared to other routers that I have in the past like Linksys. All said and done. This router after set and using the Netgear app to place it in the most optimal place / range, which was clearly in the middle of green as the app, the signal I was getting out of was less then 50% of what my Gateway Verizon's router was giving. I turned it off and the did the test again using the ookla app and clearly I was doing better than not having it on. I did reconnect my old Linksys RE 6500 and the speed was btn 90 to 100% The reason I did consider this router extender, was we are 4 people working at home and 2 kids doing online school while the one is either streaming on the TV or his iPad, and sometimes one us would get slow speeds and connections. After realizing that my old Linksys was a performer I made some adjustments on the main Verizon router with the channels for 2.4G and 5G and tweeked its position, and am now back into business. Go Linksys ...

Good mesh extender
