External drive attached to the usb 3 works as a backup drive and media server through Roku and even the directv boxes. I can now play my backup music, photos and videos through them. I recently discovered the ftp option and can listen to or access my files from my android phone or any pc on the web! (using a ddns server). With a dual core processor everything works smooth and fast. Now I don't even use my wifi extender anymore! If you have the money, you will be happy with this router. Period.
