Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 WiFi Router's impressive range, ease of use, and performance. Many appreciate its strong signal and the generally simple setup process, leading to positive experiences with streaming and overall WiFi quality. However, some users reported occasional connection issues and noted the router's relatively large size. While some experienced improvements in lag, others mentioned problems with the firmware.

Speeds are great but needs power cycled every few weeks or it won't allow wifi devices to connect. Different wifi devices in the home loose connectivity and won't reconnect until you do so.

My internet is fine but the nighthawk keeps losing connection. I’m not sure what the problem is. I wish I didn’t spend almost $200 on this item.

Netgear does not know how to make quality products

I used Netgear routers for more than 10 years. But this will be the last one. In April my aging WNDR3700 lost 2.4 GHz. First replacement R6000 (?) came from Costco for $129. Failed on 3rd day, returned. The second replacement R7000 came from Best Buy for $170. After 2 months the 5 GHZ band failed. My computers could see all routers in neighborhood except my very own one. Now, the second part of the story. I called Netgear waited 1 hour, meantime I registered the product on their web site, figured out how to file a ticket (not so obvious - no direct link). Then I called again, gave the case # was told to wait 16 minutes, disconnected the call after 1.5 hour (!!!), and the non-stop propaganda about "effective service that the customers deserve". It made me sick. The third part of the story. The free phone, email (no address given!!!) and chat (no such option!!!) support is only for 90 days!!!! The guarantee period is 1 year. How to contact Netgear for free after 90 days?- nobody knows. By calling the corporate office? - writing letters? sending faxes to corporate address or fax #? Yes, they offer phone support if you pay for it! Just to summarize: They have no idea how to make quality products, they have no idea how to treat customers with respect, they have no sense of shame, so they do not deserve to stay in this business any longer.

    waste of money!!

This router is useless!!!! What a waste of money ($175?!). We've had a Belkin for years that still works. During the pandemic, we felt we needed to upgrade. We have MAJOR connectivity issues with the NETGEAR; it does not work. Again, guess I should have forked over extra money for an already expensive product so that we could have at least returned or exchanged it for another one. I will never buy NETGEAR products again.

Paired it with a netgear modem but it didn’t work out. I wasn’t getting the speeds that I expected from a product like this. Might work out better for others but didn’t work well for my needs.

This is a nice router but... It like all of the routers we get flaked out in a couple years. Extended warranties are a must on routers. I have never NOT used the extended warranty on a router.

This was by far the most difficult router I've set up. They try to make it easier and it ends up complicating things. The dual band is a pain and not always available. So far can't tell any difference from the lesser item I'm replacing.

ZERO STARS worst piece of junk I ever purchased! First month everything was fine. I have 5g and needed to upgrade router. TWO MONTHS LATER I GET DISCONNECTED EVERY 15 minutes!!! I’ll be chicken to even finish this review without disconnect!! RUN FAR and Google netgear router disconnects TADAAA you will find thousands of REAL reviews!! I contact netgear support daily which is impossible to reach an agent! On the phone. Ow I went from 0 minutes to 188 minutes wait time?!?! OMG I HATE THIS ROUTER. Comcast resided my entire house, I updated firmware, adjusted settings, you name it yet nothing works!!! This company should be bankrupt for stealing customers money and selling falsified information of product!!!! FYI I have paired this with a Motorola modem which doesn’t have any issues. RUN FAR from netgear!!!

I couldn't get it to work when I first got. Was very busy due to issues related to Covid-19. Was going to try again just over 90 days later. Registered the device for the first time. Wanted to use support for the first time, but zero support available because it was 90 days after purchase. Very frustrating. Just trying to get it up and working. Right now its useless to me.

Don't be reassured by the warranty!

The 1 year warranty is misleading. The one year warranty is for "hardware". This means that even if your router isn't working well (e.g. craps out frequently) you are not covered as long as it turns on. You really only have a 3 months "warranty". If you have issues after that, Netgear requires you to pay for support. They will ask you to purchase a support plan in order to even get someone to take a look at it. I'm an IT guy and I tried several times to troubleshoot it but we keep having issues almost daily.

This was a pain to set up. I got this for my mother's home and had to do it for her. I have an Eero which was so simple to set up. It seems to work well so far though.
