Purchased this to strengthen our wifi and although we did notice a difference it was not enough. We feel this product does not produce what is promised.

    Constant disconnects

The router worked fine for a month or so, but then the wifi would lose connection on all of our devices. Our internet connection was still good, but the router would cut the internet connection over wifi. We would have to reset the router, at first every week or so, then every day, then multiple times daily, then you couldn't connect to wifi at all. The LED's on top indicated that everything was connected and working. I did a factory reset and set up our connections again, and it started all over again after a couple of weeks. Apparently it's a fairly common problem, search for it on the internet and even on Netgear's website. To top it all off, I tried to contact Netgear but after 90 days you have to pay $89.99 for a 6 month support plan, even though the router has a 1 year warranty! No thanks, they aren't getting any more of my money. I replaced this with a Linksys router that we've had great luck with at work.

    NETGEAR AC1900 Smart WiFi Router

I don't normally write reviews , however i had to write this one. I purchased this to replace an old Linksys Cisco E3000 router that completely stopped working. So this time I did some research and wanted to find something that delivered a better signal range and speed than what I use to have and this one fit the bill by delivering extremely high results. It is installed in the same location as my dead Linksy E3000. I must tell you that the is this router to purchase , very easy to setup. I consistently have. 5 bars through out my whole house and I have a two story home and this NETGEAR AC 1900 R7000 Smart WiFi covers a broader area of the house and delivers nothing but 5 bar signal strength and speed for all of our online gaming, streaming of movies, iPads , MacBooks , iPhones , samsung smart TVs and webserver etc. I have a totals of 17 devices connected at one time without loosing a beat. Signal strength stays strong y I have nothing by high marks for this router and has for those bad reviews all I have to say about that is either they got a defective router and I suggest get a replacement or they are not tech savvy or just hard to please. Because you can't please everyone. Then again someone is always going to say something bad about any product. But trust me I have been in the information technology field for over 30 years and this Netgear AC 1900 router is very easy to set up just like plug-and-play, very robust and reliable. You do have to set the admin password and change it as soon as you set it up from the default password. Don't listen to the bad reviews and let it deter you from purchasing this router. It is expensive however if you can afford it I would highly recommend you get it , because you get what you pay for and that's quality and reliability. You will not regret this purchase!

I can't give zero starts. This product is a waste of money.I had an older model and it was excellent untill didn't work anymore. I tried to get the same brand and it was a complete garbage. Got disconnected several times throughout the day. I had to reset it every day. I had it for a week and finally returned it to the store. I'll never buy this again.

Old router died on me and I needed to pick up a new one. Read a few specs on a few other models and decided to give this one a try. It's compatible with my current set up and no complaints so far so good.

Excited when purchased this product. Worked fine for 6mos. Then suddenly it shut down and would not start back up. Called netgear went through a whole bunch of steps that did not work. They offered to replaced it but first had to send product back then when received they would send me the replacement. Which turned out to be a “refurbished” product. To top it off they wanted me to pay shipping if I wanted them to overnight me the “replacement”.

Best router I've used by far

    Posted .

I have used this router about a week to replace my old gaming WNDR3700. It was getting to where it needed to be reset daily to keep connections. The Nighthawk comes with the network already set up for you. It's so easy to set up a real tech noob can do it in about 10 mins. All you really have to do is go in and set new network names and change passwords via the settings app or webpage. First off, This thing looks cool like a spaceship. The LED's can be turned off or on via the app or web page which is cool for night time use. I am a heavy internet user. Between me and my son we use 2 xbox one's and 2 xbox 360's. Also an alienware x51, blueray player, 4 smart phones, ipad and and 2 laptops. I haven't had one hiccup yet. All my nats are open on every console after i did a firmware update and then a reset to defaults via the reset button on back of router. I use the 5ghz band for my wireless xboxs and alienware x51 for gaming and streaming. I use the 2.4 ghz band for smart phones etc. 5ghz is better for in house high media usage but has less range. my 2.4 ghz will easily reach a block and a half down the road. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I researched this thing for a bit before purchasing it comparing it to all the new linksys and asus routers of the same specs. I chose this one basically due to my longevity using netgear products and the fact that it has a dual core 1ghz processor inside. This is a bit pricey but i am a believer in you get what you pay for. If you want good performance you have to pay for it. It's well worth the price. Hope this helps and makes your choice easier when shopping for the best router.

I purchased this router in May 2019 and initially it worked great. After a couple months and subsequent firmware updates it continually drops either 5g or 2.4g signals to the point where I have to keep resetting it. It’s a known problem. If you do a simple google search you’ll find tons of frustrated owners like myself. Wasted money. I think I’m going to take it outside and take a sledgehammer to it.

continously disconnects. Worst router and return policy is too short to enable troubleshooting within appropriate time frame so you get stuck spending money on a router to support high bandwidth that doesnt actually connect and support . Do not recommend. cheaper brands work 100x better. dont waste your money.

I bought this item last year. It works fine. It has some small problems and it was not in the level of my expectation. Because my home is small and i spent this much of money to solve all of my problem i had had in the past. Any way i was happy with this router until yesterday that i didn’t get internet from my router and like everyone else i called the company to solve the problem. After calling them they explained me new level of customer service that it was first time i’ve heard something like this. The person on the phone told me that they are ready to help me on the phone if i pay 90 dollars to extend my warranty 6 more month. First i felt there is a misunderstanding but after asking again he explained me that yeah for solving your problem on the phone ( no hardware issue ) you need to extend your warranty. This was the first time i saw one company charge you for helping you on the phone and i believe it will be the last time. If you wanna buy product from netgear be aware that based on their policy, after one year you are not eligible to call the company for some software issue unless you pay 90 dollars to extend your warranty.

Purchased it to replace my Verizon FiOS router. It cannot maintain a connection for the life of it. I would have full service of WiFi, but unable to connect to anything. I read reviews on some other sites after I purchased it, and MANY people complained of these issues as well. Don't waste your money, its not worth it. I took it back today and bought a Linksys Velop system

Rampant connection issues, firmware update problems. Router has issues with multiple devices running , maybe four to five devices. Very disappointed in Netgear. Now I’ve hooked up the old Asus RTN 56 and the Pigeons are flying. Waiting for the TP Link AX 6000 to arrive. Because of the issues I’m done with NETGEAR.

I had purchased this to work with my Netgear Modem but the Ethernet would keep cutting out after using it for 1/2=hour and WiFi signal was too weak. Numerous calls to support could not solve problem returned it for a Linksys MR 9600 which solved my problem. I did have to purchase two velop WOHOH2 WiFi extenders to reach second floor and basement and they produced a strong WiFi signal that stopped all buffering. Works well with Optimum.
