Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 WiFi Router's impressive range, ease of use, and performance. Many appreciate its strong signal and the generally simple setup process, leading to positive experiences with streaming and overall WiFi quality. However, some users reported occasional connection issues and noted the router's relatively large size. While some experienced improvements in lag, others mentioned problems with the firmware.

If you are a gamer please do not purchase this Router. We have purchased and setup and at first it was fine, great even. Then the disconnects started to happen. The internet would just drop. We checked with the ISP and there were no issues. Checked and made sure the firmware was updated and still kept disconnecting. Netgear requires you to purchase their customer support to trouble shoot their products and when looking through the online support options, it is littered with hundreds of other people experiencing all the same issues. If you need a good router, pick a different one. Thank you,

Did not work to what I needed it for. It wasn’t an issue with the router but more of where my modem was located.

    Reliable wireless at last

This is my second purchase of a nighthawk router, this for a second location. Previous wireless routers didn't have the range I needed for a large property. Previously dead spots are now reliably accesible for streaming with the router placed downstairs and wireless now accessible in all upstairs location in an over 3500 sf. home. Streaming to PCs, phones, laptops, PS3/4, supporting Netflix and Amazon prime. When coupled with a high data rate Surfboard modem, I have had zero issues. easy setup and basic configuration, with lots of control for advance use. I have found no better for the price.

But it last just shy of 2 yrs. This is my third one. I stick with Netgear because of its features. I suggest you but the insurance because it doesn't last very long

Very nice unit! Unfortunately it was defective right out of the box. Best Buy did right by me, hence 3 out of 5.

Works well as long as smart connect is DISABLED. If enabled, unit needs to be rebooted daily.

I'm trying to be as constructive as possible here because I'm so irritated with this router. Straight out of the box it work great for a couple days. Set-up was a bit lengthy, you have to use your phone and download an app, then connect to the router to finish set-up, not the big of a deal. But after a couple days of dropping the signal I gave it the best chance and changed it's location so that it was in a spot with the least amount of interference, still no help. This router drops the signal at least twice a day forcing you to reboot it. And last night was the last straw, it wouldn't even broadcast a signal so every device in my house was pretty much a pretty boat anchor. I'll be searching for a new router today and throwing this thing in the trash. Thanks Netgear for wasting my hard earned money.

The functionality of this unit is great, but the range is less than that of cheaper models, which the range is the biggest reason I spent more money for this unit.

Product tries to lead you into unnecessary monthly subscription costs. Best setup from an additional computer if you have a wireless install gateway.

I have to say that I'm very disappointed in the performance of the router. Even after the great review the Best Buy team member gave it, I don't think it's stayed online longer than a week. I've have to re-boot it at least once or twice a week since I purchased it. I was thinking that I was improving my old router, but I should have just left things the way they were because I can't rely on this product. What good it when I'm away from home and I need to have it working. Now the web site is indicating that I can't return the product. So before you run out and buy this product, you might want to go with a different option and not waste your time and money.

Reviews for router were good, but I needed one that could be a repeater. After some research I found that this one has that capability, but I guess in what I found it didn't see that to do repeater the whole network has to be unsecure. Found, this out later after trying to configure it as a repeater (base also a 7000). If they would fix the software to allow security iwith repeaters it would be a 5. Going to try flashing with open source software, as it should be able to handle this.

This unit was represented to be the strongest router, good for multilevel larger homes. It works good if the devices are close to the router. The further away, the weaker the signal.

I am told Netgear makes great products, but my router has been nothing but problems for me. Tried multiple times to reset and try different firmware and settings but stays the same. Issue is router recieves ~400mbps but it limits what devices get, even if only one device on the router. Upload is constant but download is always limited regardless of what I do. Previous routers didn't do that. Maybe just this model or just this router, but not a fan.
