Junk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 1 Gig symmetrical connection and can only get it to max out at 300Mbps down and 90Mbps up. Firmware updates destroyed speeds and cant get them back even when going back to original firmware. I wont ever buy another Netgear anything

First one failed after 6 months
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Netgear warranty is horrid. They want you to pay $90 just to help you, even though it is under waranty. I bought anothe of the same model, and it did fix the problem, but Netgear would not replace the original unless I pay them 2/3 the cost of a new one. ABSOLUTELY NO MOE NETGEAR FOR ME ! Also DDWRT does not run well on it. Throughput drop to about 20 MB. Forums are full of complaints.

Wireless router
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did not work well in my setup, so I returned this item. Overkill for one-bed Apt, and setup was overly complicated. Built-in security got in the way of troubleshooting. Bought a more simple one, different brand, that still offered the USB port for my hard drive.

Is it really working as the box says it does...?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have charter cable that gives me 60 mps speed for WiFi , I bought this router for the sole purpose of using it for online gaming which requires a constant internet connection in order to have a enjoyable gaming experience , I really though buying this elite router would be my solution, as it turns out, I have internet connection problems, So as any logical man would do I called the tech guy from the company to take a look to see what the problem was on charter's end, he ran all the tests and his laptop, tablet, and phone where all saying the WiFi should be outstanding since the modem was in perfect working order, 2 other charter tech guys said the same, So if charter is not the problem then it has to be this "new elite" router that does not give me a strong solid internet connection that I need for online gaming, also my regular online experience is also unacceptable since I have 60 mps speed I should be flying through the internment which is really not the case, I have anywhere from a 5-15 second delay reaction time for page loads...! This is my 2nd router from NetGear I would recommend to not buy their products and really look to the other router company's like linksys router models, which I will be doing myself...

Don't bother. Constantly drops signal.
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me say this. I originally purchased this router about a year ago and at first it worked great. That is until Netgear's firmware update made this all but unusable. On average, I will have to reboot this thing at least twice an evening as it will randomly disconnect. Thinking that my older modem might have been an issue, we replaced it to no avail. Netgear account representative, I don't need to see "please consult our website yadda yadda yadda" as this has become a well document issue with this router.

Worked at first, but didn’t last long.
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this in August and initially it worked pretty good. Fast forward to now we can stay connected, it may be the newest software update. It sounded polite it was quite common. With working from home and two homeschool students we couldn’t live with the dropping and had to upgrade with another brand.

Pain
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the router a long time ago and still do not have it hooked up right. it is a pain in the butt. I spent a fair amount for a headache. I am still using my old router. Call service, netgear service and they were just interested in selling me protection.

Unit failed after 7 mos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.very unhappy with performance, as it drops signal on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands after 4-5 minutes, and continues to drop service and reconnect. I tried moving the unit but this did not help, and all devices are well within range, as prior and lessor quality Cisco Router managed very well. Advice: GET EXTENDED WARRANTY; I didn't think I'd need it with such a high-end router though this proved to be a mistake. Now I have an expensive pile of rubbish, headed for the dumpster, and I'm back to leasing from the local telephone company, which was the whole point of buying this unit: to avoid those stupid monthly lease charges. I got burned: Lesson learned.

Don't buy, firmware is bad
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like everything about this router except the firmware. Like many others WiFi is spotty at best. If you like not having WiFi and messing around with downgrading or using custom firmware go for it. I've been trying for two weeks to get it to work, still the same problem.
